Comfort Foods

Last night I felt, in a word, pukey. No idea what my deal is. I have kind of felt like this for the past day or so. It's getting old. I am hoping today is a better health day for me. It's draining to feel nauseated all day!

Now that I am gluten free, my good old stand by comfort foods aren't an option anymore.

If I wasn't gluten free, I'd eat:

Some Chicken Noodle Soup

Or some saltines

or maybe a bowl of boiled macoroni

I am pretty sure there are GF options for 2 of these 3 items. I just don't feel like going to a grocery store and shopping for them.

So instead I ate a baked potato last night since I figured it would probably be easy on my tummy.

I don't have time to be sick so am hoping this little bug goes away very quickly!!

What are your go to comfort foods?

Sorry you aren't feeling well. My comfort foods when I feel icky are chicken noodle soup, apple sauce, and Sprite. The Sprite especially! Feel better soon!

When I'm feeling sick my go to comfort food is definitely chicken noodle soup. When I'm not sick my comfort food is stuffed pepper soup, mac and cheese, or turkey dressing roll ups (which sound really good right now).

Hope you feel better soon!

"I don't have time to be sick" - story of my life!! I'm so afraid of getting sick because then I'll get so behind...

My comfort foods are mac and cheese! And pizza! and... wine? lol! And stuffed peppers, those are good too!

Feel better!!

The sick to the stomach feeling is NOT fun.

If I don't feel well I love the fruit punch gatorade + an English muffin, lightly buttered (assuming I'm not feeling uber pukey).

If I do feel well then pretty much anything can be a comfort food! I'm Italian so many pasta dishes are my comfort food but I try to avoid them since they aren't healthy for me.

Get well soon!

When we were little and not feeling well, my mom and dad would make us cheese grits and lemon rice soup. Cheese grits is the best warm, stick to your bones, meal ever. Lemon rice soup is my dad's adaptation of a Greek recipe, and no matter how old I am, I always feel special when he makes it!

Like every good Jewish girl, my ultimate comfort food is my Mom's chicken soup. If you've never had Jewish chicken soup it's a whole different ball game then anything you've ever had. It's very intensely flavored and basically like drinking comfort.

I will also take any carb when I need comforting. Bagels, pasta- if it's a carb I'm a happy girl!

You need to come to NYC so that I can take you to one of my fave restaurants here that will make any of their pastas and pizzas GF. Luckily, I'm not GF, but they are also really good about all of my food allergies. They even have me in their computer system so that when I call and make a reservation they say to me, "OK and we have down here that you are allergic to..."

Feel better!

:( You poor thing! It's probably from how little sleep you have been getting. I hope you feel better! Yucky!

My comfort food is definitely macoroni and ketchup. It was my favorite food as a 5 year old. And so many years later..it's still what I turn to for comfort!

Or mustard with celery.

I hope you're feeling better- nausea is the worst feeling in the world.

Maybe it's because of the over abundance of nurses in my personal life, but my comfort foods when I'm ill are items in the "BRAT" diet- bananas and toast, especially. And hot herbal tea.
