January Re-cap

Current Book(s):
Finished - Knit Two and Knit the Season - both by Kate Jacobs (lovely books for a knitting-lover like me!), In a Sunburned Country by Bill Bryson

Currently reading - The Thirteenth Tale by Diane Setterfield

* Another slow month of reading for me...

Current Music:
The Last Kiss Soundtrack. Such a fantastic Soundtrack. You know that pop sound with the "What You Say" chorus? Well, that is ripped from Hide & Seek by Imogen Heap, which is one of my favorite songs on The Last Kiss Soundtrack. Has a very different sound, but I love it. I want an Imogen Heap CD so badly but I am not letting myself buy anything unnecessary these days!

Current Shame-Inducing Guilty Pleasure:
Mini-peanut butter cups. My co-worker always has them in his candy drawer and I cannot resist... I kept asking him to stop buying them!

Current Colors:
Mustard Yellow

Current Obsessions:
My half-marathon and full marathon training plans that are hanging in my cube. I love looking at them and calculating how far I'll run each week/month/etc. Yes, I am a running dork.

Current Drink:
Home brewed coffee! Totally successful on my only drinking lattes on Fridays!!

Current Song:
"Sort Of" by Ingrid Michaelson. Or her whole album.

Current Movie:
Sliding Doors - fantastic movie. Check it out if you haven't.

Current TV Shows:
The new season of Project Runway! I am SO glad it's back in NYC. It just wasn't the same when it was in LA!

Current Wish-List:
- Imogen Heap CD
- New Coffee Pot
- This knitting pattern book that they had on display at the little yarn shop I frequent!!

Current Needs:
- a cleaner condo
- a less cluttered coffee table. It basically functions as my desk!

Current Triumph:
- I have resisted the temptation to buy new CDs during my weekly trip to Target. I have been trying to cut down on unnecessary purchases and have done so well so far!
- I haven't bought a book for myself in well over a month. My goal is to not buy another book until I have read all the ones I own. So I should be good until June or July I am guessing!

Current Bane of my Existence:
- My complexion. I have been a bit stressed lately (see Bane of my Existence #2), and my face is not handling it well. I basically want to wear a paper bag over my head. I have an appt with a new Dermatologist this morning. I am crossing my fingers that he has a solution. Besides birth control. That was the only solution my previous derm would recommend...

- A contract negotiation I am working on at work. It's a great opportunity with lots of exposure to super high finance management, but it stresses me out. Big time. Like I wake up in the middle of the night sometimes and stress about it.

Current Goal:
- Stop eating those dang peanut butter cups!!

Current Indulgence:
- Peanut butter on apples. The apples are basically a vessel for the peanut butter. Can you tell that PB is a total weakness for me?

Current Blessings:
- Getting 9 hours of sleep/night the last 2 weekends!

Current Slang or Saying:
- Describing things as craptastic.

Current (Fav) Outfit:
- Work dresses with tights! It was pretty mild earlier this month so I wore dresses quite frequently!!

Current Excitement:
- My college friend get-together this weekend!
- Meeting my parents for Mass & an early birthday lunch on Sunday!
- My weekend in Phoenix at the end of Feb!

Current Mood:
- Pensive

* Have a fantastic weekend everyone! I will be heading north to Grand Forks, ND for the weekend. What do you have planned?

I read The Thirteenth Tale and I think I liked it (it was a few years ago). Hope you enjoy it! I need to hang things up in my cube but I keep forgetting to bring things in!

I completely agree that Project Runway is so much better set in NYC!

i hear you on the face thing..i've always hated my complexion. in reality, it's probably not THAT bad but it's not good enough for me. i use medicated face wash clothes called plexion clothes that my dermatologists prescribed and they work miracles! i still get a small break out every now and then if i'm stressed or depending on what time of the month it is but overall, they have helped a ton. i hope your appt goes well. have a fun weekend!

The Last Kiss soundtrack is so good, I was disappointed that the movie wasn't quite as good. And, I know what you mean about Imogen Heap..she's got such a beautiful voice.

Sounds like you had a great month!! Can't believe January is almost over...

Can't wait to hear all about your weekend. Family time sounds great too =)

The Last Kiss... I really liked that moive. I realize I was in the minority but something about it really gets to me (in a good way, I guess).

This weekend I'll be relaxing, hitting up the gym, writing cards to friends, seeing a writer that I really like (Ridley Pearson, he wrote the Peter & The Starcatcher series) and more relaxing. I travel to FL next Wed and traveling makes me nervous/tired so I'm trying to save up some energy :)

Have a great time this weekend!!!!! You deserve it!

I have a horrible weekend this weekend.... Working, working, working. Not that that is unusual but Sunday morning we have our annual physical inventory and I have to be there at 5:30 AM! YIKES! So that means this girl will be in bed EARLY Saturday night. :(
I also looooove The Last Kiss soundtrack and I also really liked that movie. My reading lately has been really slow as well. Like, I'm barely getting through a book a month. I think it's just because Cy and I are trying to figure out where we we're comfortable together and it will just take time for me to fall back into my natural groove that meshes with him. :)
Have a great weekend and a great trip!

Mini Peanut Butter Cups + Imogen Heap are my kryptonite.

And I'm with you on the complexion!! I'm so fair and my skin is a mess these days. I'm waiting for a new moisturizer to come in the mail and in the mean time I'm living on water and cutting out all refined sugar and bad oil (ie-salt and vinegar chips lol) from my diet. So lame!!

Hope your dermatologist helps!

I have zero plans and I am excited about it! I have also been rocking the work dress with tights this week...it's super comfortable and still looks great!

Hope you have a great weekend away!

I am also VERY excited for your trip to Phoenix in Feb!!! :) I can't wait to see you!!!

I love that you have ready more books this month than I have in the past year, and you consider this a month where you have been "slacking". You are incredible.

I hope your appointment goes well and they can find a better solution for you!! And I also hope the stress fizzles out some!!--or this weekend serves as a great get-away for you!!!

I used to also be obsessed with peanut butter! But think I ate it so much that I odn't like it anymore!! ...I hope that doesn't happen with mustard.

Don't worry, in my January re-cap--you wll get to hear about my latest condiment-obsession ;)

Girl, your job sounds STRESSful. Just be sure to get a good balance of down time when you can! I've been thinking about getting a facial lately. Seems like it would help when my face gets bad. Have a fun weekend with the college friends!

Oh my goodness, I love peanut butter. I just have to get that out there.

NOTHING!!!!!!!!!!!! I am so excited. Already in my pj's waiting for my husband to get home. Though Frankenmuth is having Snowfest and it looks fun, maybe I can convince my husband to go tomorrow. But it is flippin cold so I will probably not really want to go. :)

Lisa, I've been craving peanut butter, too, and on apples! I've also been thinking about PB on celery - love that, too! Wish I could say I've been reading as many books as you, but I just read snippets of several books and magazine articles and that's about it! See you Sunday!

I hope you have a ton of fun with your college friends this weekend! When are you going to be in Phoenix? I am going to be there February 18-21st.

Hi Lisa. I *love* Sliding Doors! SUCH a wonderful movie!! I even watched Monty Python because of James, though didn't find it as funny as he did.

Also, while it's already been covered in your comments: peanut butter + chocolate = love. Frankly, it's really the PB that has captured my heart. I've been known to eat it plain and I'm comfortable admitting that.

Anyhow, I hope you have a great weekend!

Hahaha, Craptastic!! Well things will get better I'm sure :) And if not, you've got those peanut butter cups ;)

I loved your answer to "current drink" :P
