Looking Forward

Today is my first day back at my former-but-now-current employer, who I will now refer to as The Chariot. It's too wordy/confusing to continue to refer to them as 'former-but-now-current employer'.

I've spent the last couple of weeks looking through the rear view mirror of my life.

I've been looking back to how excited I was when I got my offer from The Psych Experiment, aka TPE (new nickname for my former employer) back in the fall of 2008. I've looked back to my first week with TPE and am remembering how something just didn't 'feel right'. I've re-played not-so-fun interactions with my former manager and director at TPE.

It's time to stop looking back and start looking forward.

So today I am going to focus on what I am looking forward to this week, this month, and this year!

This week I will get together with my Minneapolis book club and discuss Brooklyn by Colm Toibin at a local Irish Pub. Part of the story is set in Ireland so we thought an Irish Pub would be the perfect location!

This month I will travel to Tucson to visit my sister and her husband and celebrate their college graduations. They have both worked so so so hard, so I am thrilled that I get to be there to help celebrate. They are having a Mexican Fiesta. Mexican food is so Gluten Free friendly so I am really looking forward to partaking in the feast (and being a helpful sous chef)! I fly out exactly one month from today & can't wait!

This year I will travel to Portland and run my 2nd marathon with Amber and Lauren. I know I have a PR in me! I was such a newbie when I ran my first marathon; I am a much smarter runner now than I was 4 years ago when I ran my first marathon. I can't wait to see how it all shakes out!

What are you looking forward to this week, month, and year?

This week I'm looking forward to conquering Wuthering Heights. I've been reading it for awhile and it's time to finish that sucker and be done with it!

This month I'm looking forward to hopefully ordering another wedding band (more to follow on this, kind of a weird story).

This year I'm looking forward to going to Charleston, SC with the mister for our anniversary. Neither of us have been to this city and I just keep hearing good things about it. Can't wait!

Oh, and I'm still super jealous you get to meet Amber!

Rip off the rearview mirror and truely focus on the road in front of you, putting as much distance between you and the great psych experiement as you can. You have many great things headed your way just over the horizon.

This week I'm looking forward to being off on Friday, seeing my best friend from Columbus for some much needed hang out time and a road trip to West Chest, PA for the Beauty Bash with my mom.

This month I'm looking forward to kicking my job search into overdrive and for new possibilities that may bring. I'm also officially kicking off another summer of me.

This year I'm looking forward to meeting up with some great friends, having a wonderful time, and really just seeing how life will continue to unfold right before my eyes.

It sounds like you have a lot to look forward to!! And, what a great lesson. I know I'm often looking back at the past..thinking about when certain things were going my way, etc. etc.

So, for now...I'm looking forward to finishing my thesis!! What a process, but my advisor seems confident I will be done this summer!! Can't wait. Then, looking forward to getting out of this city and starting life beyond my Masters degree!

Lisa, I can't wait for our blogger meet up marathon! This is such a positive post. I love looking forward to the exciting things in life and you definitely have a few coming up. And, they'll be so much more exciting because you won't be dreading your work life!

I'll have you know that I ran my marathon PR on my 2nd marathon. Just as you suspect ... you learn a ton from your first experience of training and running the race. Now, you know where you need to improve. I will warn you, though ... those long runs will still be a mental test for you - they don't magically get easier just because you've run that distance before. =)

And also? Watch out for those themed book clubs (and I mean this in a good way). My parents are in a book club that likes create the meeting to reflect the book. Now, they've started traveling around the world together to have book club meetings. Insane, no?!?

This week I'm looking forward to buying a new car tomorrow...yikes!

This month I'm looking forward to vacation next week. I'm so ready to get away from the demanding kiddos for a week and relax...well probably more like wedding plan but at least kids will not be involved (haha yeah right next week I'm going to be like yeah I'll take the kids).

This year I'm looking forward to my wedding and honeymoon! I wish I could run the marathon with you guys though (except that I can't run...or travel anywhere that time of the year boo), you are going to have so much fun!

I'm so glad that your perspective is starting to shift- and I LOVE "the chariot" what an amazing nickname! =)

It sounds like things are back to a wonderful normal for you- book club, running, celebrating with friends... This is just so good to hear! I wish I could hug you, lady!

This week I'm looking forward to working on projects that lift me up. This month I'm looking forward to planning our road trip around my blog friend's suggestions for places to go, and this year I'm looking forward to embracing positivity and all the possibility around me.

Oooh love this! I love questions like this, the ones that get me out of my head (which is currently buried in papers and resarch, blech) and into my actual life.

I too am meeting with my book club this week and am SO excited. Is it so nerdy to admit book club is my favorite night of the month? Maybe. We are discussing Then We Came to The End by Joshua Ferris.

This month, I am looking forward to... my birthday! I'm totally one of those semi-adults who is still a kid about bdays.

As for this year, my long-delayed honeymoon is top of the list! Croatia here I come!

PS the fact that you have run multiple marathons is astounding and amazing. Congrats!
