Summer, Here I Come!

As I said earlier this week, we have had absolutely gorgeous weather lately! Springs like this make it a whole lot easier to live in the Midwest. We put up with some not-so-great weather during the winter months, which can stretch into the spring, so it's always a pleasant surprise when the spring weather is warm and sunny!

All this warm and sunny weather has me in 'summer mode'. Here is what I am looking forward to this summer:

  • Weekends at my parents' cabin where I will sip fruity blender drinks that my mom concocts, play cribbage with my dad, and hang out in the water with my nephews.
  • Wearing fun summer dresses and skirts! I wear dresses year round, but I am happy that I can now pack away the tights.
  • Training for the Portland marathon. Training will kick off on June 7th! I am excited but a little nervous since I know how tough some of the training runs will be.
  • Sipping cocktails on outdoor patios of local restaurants.
  • Helping my nephews cast their fishing rods off the end of the dock. Every time I cast for my nephew James he says, "Did you get it in the honey hole, Lisa?" It's something he picked up from his dad! It always makes me laugh when he asked. The answer is no. I cast about as well as the 4 & 5 year olds do! Fishing has never been my forte...
  • A late summer meet-up with some of my favorite bloggers!

What are you looking forward to this summer?

I'm looking forward to my wedding (even if everything goes wrong, the planning will still be over, whoa hoo!) and my honeymoon. I'm also looking forward to taking about 3 weeks off for the first time since college to have the wedding and honeymoon, yay.

I'm definitely looking forward to warm weather, eating outside etc.

I'm not looking forward to saying goodbye to my kiddos from this year. They are by far the best group I've had and I'm scared for what is in store for me next year!

I love the fishing store, your nephews are so cute!

Your time at your parents' cabin sounds divine!

This summer I'm looking forward to a wedding in Chicago (I've never been!), and going to the Midwest for a week in July to visit family!

That sounds amazing! I'm looking forward to working really hard at becoming a stronger designer- it's going to be nose to the grindstone, but in a fun way =)

I'm really looking forward to planting my garden and working on the house a little- I want to paint my craft room in a bright & beautiful colour, and we need to take another run at the front yard. Last year it was so shady and we started so late that we couldn't get much grass growing, this year we're going to Get Very Serious about the whole thing so we don't have a barren dirt desert in front of the house lol

I hope I feel all that excitement right now. (It is summer here, but it's really hot, not fun anymore)

You do make a perfect picture of a well-deserved summer! Cheers on that!

I am so excited for your summer! Quite truthfully, I'm right on the cusp of officially declaring another summer of me. Its the time of year when I truly come alive and live each day to the fullest.

I hope that this summer is incredibly restorative for you. Hanging out on the dock with your family sounds divine. Its going to be a great one for you, I just know it.

Here's to celebrating all summer has to offer!

Your summer sounds so peaceful. I'm looking forward to a peaceful summer, too. After several years of insane wedding and graduation seasons I'd like to just relax for a few weekends!
I'd love to walk on the levee in a sundress, eating a snowball. Ahhh!

I'm looking forward to enjoying some last days on the front porch of my childhood home, and a visit to NYC in the next month or two.

We've had such a beautiful week of weather that I wish I was on the dock right now! With no wind the lake would be like glass! So peaceful and serene! God speed the days until we can get there!

I can't wait to have the windows open in the house without being cold and being able to BBQ

Yes, one of my fav things about summer...dresses and skirts w/ the legs bare! And drinks on any patio will do me just fine year round!
