Ten on Tuesday

1. If you could travel back in time, would you? What decade would you visit?
Hell yes, I would! I would travel back to the 60s and go to a Beatles concert!

2. What was your best Halloween costume? (fun to make? most creative?)
Um, I hate Halloween. I mean, I enjoy watching my nephews get dressed up, and if I lived somewhere that I got trick or treaters, I would enjoy it. But I live in a condo association with a bunch of senior citizens (seriously, not joking), so I get no trick or treaters. So I hate Halloween.
So I can't even really come up with a costume that is memorable. Maybe a clown costume that my mom hand sewed when I was pretty young? That was pretty impressive. She is quite the sewer.

3. Do you like your name? If you weren't called by your name, what would you want to be called?
Sorry Dad, but I don't like my name. I mean, I am obviously not going to change it. Although I reallly tried to convince my parents to let me change it to Stephanie when I was in 3rd grade. They were not on board so Lisa it is.
If I could change my name now, I would probably change it to Lydia. It's sort of similar but way more unique/interesting than Lisa!

4. In the past year, what is the BEST recipe you made. Please share it!
Tough question. I have made some dynamite recipes this year, to be quite honest! My favorite is the Paella I made with my aunt Barb, but I don't have the recipe for that typed out... and I can't take credit for it since my aunt did most of the work! So my runner up is this chicken w/ mushrooms that I made the night before the Twin Cities 10 mile race. I served it on top of some gluten free pasta. It was fantastic and it was actually a weight watchers recipe!!

5. Look around - what is the nearest object or picture hanging on the wall?
A picture of the Charles Bridge & Prague Castles which is hanging on my wall. It's an 8x10 photo that my friend Brooke actually took. None of my pics from that trip turned out because I was so hyped up on cold medicine, I was shaky hands McGee so all of my pics are blurry!

6. What was the last movie you saw in the theater? Would you recommend it?
I went to "She Out of Your League" with a girlfriend and it was awful. So no, I would not recommend it. We thought it was going to be a chick flick but it was a total guys movie. The humor was so crash and disgusting - so not my kind of movie! I am a bit of a prude!

7. Did you go to summer camp? Will you/do you send your kids to camp?
I went to Band Camp three summers in a row. Yes, I was a total nerd. My sister went, too, and loved it as much as I did. And no, I do not start stories by saying, "...and this one time, in band camp..." I bet most of my friends don't even know I ever went!!
If I have kids, I would probably send them to camp - if they were interested in going.

8. What kind of ringtone do you have?
The ringtone that sounds most like a typical phone. I despise songs for ringtones. They drive me bananas.

9. Where is the farthest away from home you have ever been?
I spent 4 months in Australia studying abroad. Deciding to study abroad was the best decision I ever made in college!

10. Has anyone ever written a song or a poem for or about you?
Heck no. I haven't even received a love letter. Or even a love email! Or even a love fax. (Hope someone gets that reference to the SATC movie)
Someday, maybe! A girl can dream!

I agree about studying abroad in Australia being one of the best decisions I made in college.

Just to reiterate- I'm so happy you are back :)

I never went to summer camp, and I kind of want an adult one that I can go to! Crafty summer camp? Bloggers summer camp? I would make an awesome counsellor, I know it!

I would love to know where in Australia you went! My sister did her grade 12 on the gold coast and we went to visit her while she was there =)

I would love to go to a Beatles concert. And I had no idea that you lived in Australia for a time. I didn't go to band camp, but I did do summer camp for a week or two a few years.

I didn't get around to commenting yesterday but I think you made a wise career move. Best of luck as you transition!

I still think it's hilarious that you wanted to change your name to Stephanie in the 3rd grade. I've always been a fan of the name Lisa, though I do get what you mean about having a common name!

Ahhh I can't believe you hate Halloween! I LOVE dressing up :)

I often wish I could time travel. It's the nerd in me, I know, and probably the result of too much Star Trek and Doctor Who growing up, but I have LOTS of places I'd travel to. The 80s... the 30s... 50s... /swoon

I'm glad Mom & Dad didn't let you change your name to Stephanie. (No offense to any possible stephanie's out there reading this)..... ;)

You surprised me with your "60's Beatles Concert" response!

And on the Halloween costumes.....this is going to sound weird but: When I was really young (early elementary school), for some reason I have this vivid memory of you answering the door for trick-or-treaters with some type of Beethoven-ish wig. Is that totally skewed or mixed with a memory of something else? Or is this memory accurate........?

Totally off-topic, but can I just say how upbeat and happy your answers are this week? I can TOTALLY tell that you are feeling better/doing better just by reading your blog, how weird is that.

Also, I totally LOLed to the first answer and the last one! Hahaha

We just moved into a house, I hope it has lots of trick or treaters, I know there's lots of kids in the neighborhood, but seems more people are taking their kids to like malls and safer places like that. Though trick or treaters are one thing I'm looking forward to as a homeowner

I wanted to change my name to Emily Michelle when I was little. My parents wouldn't let me so I named ALL my dolls that =)

I find that certain names go to certain types of personalities. For example, I've liked all the Lisas I know! So because of that I consider Lisa to be quite a pretty name ;)

I'm happy with my name but I just wish it was easier to pronounce in English!
