Ten on Tuesday

1. What two cities should be moved closer together?

It's hard to pick just one. There are so many people I love scattered across the world! If I had to choose just one, I'd say Tucson & Minneapolis. My sister Abby lives in Tucson so I don't get to see her very often. If you could smoosh our two cities together, we could get together weekly to grill, run, and window shop (we are both on budgets)

2. What was the first plane ride you took?

I was 19 and flew to Chicago for my brother & sister-in-law's engagement party. I got a late start on flying but made up for that in my 20s!!

3. What continent would you most like to visit?

I'd have to say Europe. Then I could visit my favorite city, Paris, and check out other countries such as Portugal, Spain, Greece, and Turkey.

4. What’s your favorite place to window-shop?
J. Crew. I adore their clothes but wowzers, they are kind of expensive. So I wander through and imagine myself all dolled up in their fabulous dresses, skirts, and blouses. Then I return to reality and realize a $178 blouse is not in the budget... It sure is pretty, though, isn't it?

5. What’s the least fun you’ve ever had at a place specifically tailored for fun?
Probably a bowling alley. I freaking hate bowling. Here's the thing. I don't enjoy doing things that I am terrible at. And I am terrible at bowling.

6. You’re stuck on an island with plenty of food, a companion, and a relatively stress-free lifestyle. What do you say when the rescue ship comes?
Go back where you came from, I am quite content here.

7. Which day of the week do you look forward to most?
Friday. I love Fridays! I always have a bit more of a spring in my step on Friday.
8. What’s your favorite place to enjoy the great outdoors?
It's a toss up between:
- The running path around Lake Harriet
- At the end of the dock at my parents' lake cabin

9. What’s on your “to do” list this summer?
Read a Hemingway book with my aunt Barb! We haven't decided on one yet, but so far I'm leaning towards "The Sun Also Rises" or "A Moveable Feast". Maybe both!
10. Which natural disaster freaks you out the most?
I'm honestly not that afraid of natural disasters. I live in a part of the country where we don't really have natural disasters, besides the occasional tornado. So if I had to choose one, I guess I'd say tornadoes?

You're very luck on the natural disaster bit!!

I am a terrible bowler too! I wish I was better b/c Mark loves going, but I hate doing things I'm not good at too.

I love Jcrew also but most of the stuff I buy there is from the outlet store haha.

We don't really get natural disasters too often near us either- but then again, things seem to be getting a bit more crazy with the weather lately haha

I LOVED the Sun Also Rises, so hopefully you do as well :)

I had to laugh at the part where you say you don't enjoy doing things you aren't good at because I'm the same way. So bowling? Unless it's on the Wii, I'm good without it :)

Ugh, I feel the same way about J. Crew! Pretty but not practical!

I'm in the same boat about natural disasters- isn't that one of the very good things about where we live? =)

My favourite window shopping place is Anthropologie. It's scary pretty, and shockingly expensive.

Nice answer to the desert island question. And, I totally agree with you...sounds like a pretty good time to me, as long as there's plenty of food and people I like!

Love this!! Sitting on the dock at your parents cabin sounds so incredibly relaxing.

I am not a fan of natural disasters and thankfully live in an area that is basically unaffected by them. Thanks goodness!

I wish they had J.Crew in Canada so I could browse through a store and day dreaming about buying everything!

On my to- do list this summer is move into our first house and get married! haha

I can't believe you were 19 the first time you flew. I was so young, I don't even remember. We used to fly to Florida a lot to visit my grandparents. Actually we still do.

I love J.Crew, but I don't think I'll ever be able to afford anything. The frugal side of me will probably keep me from ever spending that much on clothing when something cheaper will do.

The fear of naturla disasters in other areas of the country freaks me out. I'd love to move to San Diego, but I'm terrified of earthquakes, mudslides, and forest fires. Here in Indiana, it's just tornados which I can handle.

I was on my first plane ride when I was just a few months old :P I'm pretty sure I didn't enjoy it ;)

And I'm totally afraid of natural disasters :S

$178 for that blouse? YIKES!!!!! Who's budget IS that in??

I'm not really scared of natural disasters either because we don't really have them here. But they sure are annoying when they happen OTHER places and try to ruin travel plans! ahemstupidvolcanoahem!

Have a good day! Friday will be here SOON!

Here in our place, we eat natural disasters for breakfast! Kidding! (Knock on wood 1M times)

But really, we have so many typhoons it's hard to tell simple rain from storm anymore haha! And yes, we just laugh at it.

Quakes freak me out. Definitely.

Yeah, JCrew is my weakness. Luckily, I rarely cave for it so my wallet is not as empty as it could be. :)

And the sound of your parents beach house dock sounds fabulous. I just love the idea of vacation homes.

I agree with you that number 1 is really hard to answer. I mean, there are so many places that I'd love to have right next to me it's ridiculous.

Continent-wise, I'd really like to visit Asia because it's huge, has really diverse countries and same awesome cuisines (Indian, Chinese, etc). :D

As for the rescue ship - I'd ask them to give me a laptop and free internet connection for life and THEN to leave me. ;)

My book club read The Sun Also Rises a few years back. A great choice.

And, oh, if they would just move NYC closer to Chicago, i would no longer need to blog!

We don't get many tornadoes here but if I had to experience one, I would be totally freaked out! I also agree that we should move Tucson closer to the midwest - my choice would be Fargo!

Ooo... J. Crew is another good one for window shopping. I just can't afford their prices! So when I do buy from them, it's generally after it was marked down, and then 50% off that price.

*Love that you have Portugal as one of your stops in Europe!

It always amazes me when people my age didn't start flying until they were an adult. I guess when you are surrounded by your family and can drive interesting places, there isn't necessarily a need for a plane.

That said, I grew up in the Midwest while most of my family was on the East Coast. I started flying before I could walk.

I like your answer to #1. Mine is quite similar ;).

I love J. Crew also, and agree with the expense of their clothes - it stinks! I'm so cheap about clothing too...

Ahhh - I am SO with you on bowling! Hate - hate - hate it!

Ally said...

Whoa J. Crew. I'm pretty sure I could never bring myself to buy a shirt for $178, even if I had the money to spend!

Im with you on the bowling! People always say how much fun it is and I hate it!! Im also pretty terrible though, so I guess that explains it.
I love how you say there are no real natural disasters in the upper midwest. As I was reading that, I thought to myself, "huh, I guess tornadoes really are it!" but then if we were to ask anyone outside of that area about it, I have a feeling that they would think we were crazy for not including blizzards. I guess you just get used to 40 below temperatures and house high piles of snow!!

Love these questions and answers. Pretty cool little survey.
