April Recap

Holy Smokes, people, it's May. This year is flying by so darn fast. I feel like I will blink my eyes and the leaves will be dropping and fall will be here.

Here is how my April played out!

Current Book(s):
Finished:

- Little Bee by Chris Cleave - Fabulous book although difficult, but important to read due to the heavy subject matter (treatment of asylum seekers)

- Rooftops of Tehrn by Mahbod Seraji - Beautifully written book about a part of the world that I know very little about. I plan on reading "Reading Lolita in Tehran" as a follow up to this book.

- 360 Degrees Longitude: One Family's Journey Around the World - Made me ache for my very own around the world trip. Will that ever happen? Time will tell...

- Grace by Richard Paul Evans - Not my favorite book by this author.

- Peter and the Starcatchers by Dave Barry & Ridley Pearson - Have you ever wondered how Peter Pan ended up in Neverland and how Tinkerbell came out? Then this is the book for you!

Currently Reading

- The Piano Shop on the Left Bank by Thaddeus Carhart - A book about pianos and Paris? Be still my heart.

Current Music:
- Stephen Kellogg & the Sixers - I saw them in concert in March & they were fantastic. I might have a bit of a crush of the lead singer. My favorite songs are In Front of the World (clip of them performing this live below), Hearts in Pain and 4th of July (2nd video - and how cool that he is playing to a small classroom at Boston College. So jealous)

Current Shame-Inducing Guilty Pleasure:
- Chocolate chips. I may or may not have finished off a bag that was in my fridge...

Current Colors:
- I'm loving anything springy - so aqua blues, pinks, yellow, you name it!

Current Obsessions:
- Adam Braverman. I am head-over-heels in love with him. Last week's show was one of the funniest episodes EVER. His dancing scene was epic. I hope my future husband dances as awkwardly as he does!!

Current Drink:
- Lots and lots of water!

Current Song:
- I'm loving the song "Vagabond" by Wolfmother. It's got a great beat & is the perfect song for summer!

Current Movie:
- (500) Days of Summer. I have a partially written post in my head based on this movie.

Current TV Shows:
- Parenthood (surprise, surprise) and Top Chef Masters!

Current Wish-List:
- Lots of summery dresses
- A reason to wear a fun summer dress - like a date, perhaps!!

Current Needs:
- For my knee to be completely healthy. It's still not 100%

Current Triumph:
- I've been making home made meals every week so am not longer living on Amy's Organic Mac n' Cheese.

Current Bane of my Existence:
- Dare I say nothing? Life is pretty darn good these days!

Current Goal:
- Join a running club! Post about this to come later this week!

Current Indulgence:
- My trip to Tucson to visit my sister & brother-in-law will be an indulgence. I can't wait to lay by the pool, go for a hike with my sister, and celebrate their graduations!

Current Blessings:
- My job. I am so, so, so, so happy to be back at The Chariot.

Current Slang or Saying:
- "It was a character building experience." This is the short answer I give when people ask about my time at The Psych Experiment.

Current (Fav) Outfit:
- I haven't worn them yet, but I am excited that White Pants season is upon us! I can't wait to wear the pair I just bought with a fun tank/cardigan.

Current Excitement:
- My AZ Trip
- Marathon training which kicks off on 6/7!

Current Mood:
- Calm, relaxed, and ready for the month of May! It has some good/interesting things in store!

I have to say Lisa D, there is a marked change in how you view your life since last month, and it shows even in the tone of your writing!

It seems you have a had a good, productive and balance month!More of the same is in order I think!

Ooooh which one is Vagabond? I heard a Wolfmother song with Slash a couple of weeks ago and thought it was just awesome :)

I love how this post just oozed happiness and excitement!

I can't believe that's is May already too! This year has gone crazy fast already...not sure if that's a good thing or not!

I loved 500 Days of Summer! I can't wait to wear sandals and not have my feet freeze :)

I really want to read Little Bee. I've been hearing great things.

Also, I am LOVING Top Chef Masters! I tried to get a res at Graham Elliott for my bday due to his appearance, but apparently others had the same idea. No openings. Drats.

It's like we blink and the month is gone, craziness! I agree with above comments that your writing tone reflects how happy you are! I'm so glad you were able to make the job change!! It makes a world of difference when you don't dread work!!

You were busy with all that reading. I'm lucky if I ever finish one book in a month. Gah. Need to make it a priority. 500 Days of Summer was a good movie.

Happy May!! Seriously, where did April go?

Summery dresses are on my wish list as well. I can't wait to start wearing those...we've had wintery weather here the last few days, so I'm hoping for that sooner rather than later.

Hi Lisa -
I also am loving the spring colors. And I watched part of Parenthood over the weekend and thought of you.

What running club are you thinking about (or have already) joining?

This weekend I did my first organized training run for the June marathon. Generally I run by myself, but it was nice to run with a group for a change.

Wow, Lisa! It is so overjoying to read your blog and see a COMPLETE 180 turn around from how things were pre-chariot! It makes me feel sooo much better to see you happy! It really bothered me to see things not going well for you earlier on. You truly deserve the best, Lisa!

That is exciting about the running club. Let's hope this time you can find a "No Men in Kilts" club?! ;)

I am so excited to see you in less than 2 weeks! Have a wonderful week!

I love these recaps and agree with the others, there is definitely a change in the way you're currently viewing the world and it makes me happy.

I am sort of in awe of anyone who can wear white pants because I can't -- I am honestly incapable of keeping anything white clean. And they make my ass look big.

I'm currently reading Donald Miller's A Thousand Miles in a Million Years, its amazing and you should definitely read it. =)

I love love LOVE Peter and the Starcatchers! I actually have the second one but haven't read it yet. It was one of the most fun books I've ever read. :)
