Monday Miscellany

Happy Monday everyone! I hope you all had a great weekend. Here's where my head is at today, bullet point style!

  • I'm super excited for my short 3-day week of work. I'll be jetting off to Tucson on Wednesday night to visit my sister & her husband. They are having a Mexican Fiesta on Saturday to celebrate their graduations from college. My parents will also be there so it will be a mini family reunion!!
  • I totally felt like my mom last night when I made dinner because I had all these random things in my fridge that I threw into the spaghetti sauce. I usually have to shop for every ingredient but this time around I had a bunch of things in my fridge that needed to be used up before my trip. My mom is the master of creating delicious second meals with ingredients. For instance, she'd made chow mein with left over roasts. Or she'd make my dad's favorite dish, hash, with leftover steak.
  • I was nearly taken out by a kid on a bike on the running path yesterday. Dear God, people need to learn how to share a running path.
  • I watched (500) Day of Summer again this weekend. I think I have seen it 5-6 times now. I think every person who has been through a tough break up in their life should watch this movie. But not right away - wait like 5-6 months maybe when it's not so fresh in your mind.
  • On that note, if I could have Zooey Deschanel's wardrobe in the movie, that'd be awesome.
  • The Portland Marathon is 5 months from today! So excited!
  • I have an exciting giveaway this Friday so be sure to stop back. It's a kitchen gadget that should be on every wedding registry in my opinion.

What's on your mind today?

I am super impressed that you were able to use the stuff in your fridge to add to your spaghetti!! My mom used to do that too! In my fridge there are condiments and a gallon of milk... Oh and I think some eggs.

"wait like 5-6 months maybe when it's not so fresh in your mind." I definitely agree with this, but suuuuch a good movie!

Have a great time on your short week, it sounds like you're going to have a great time with your sister.

On my mind today? That next week I'm going on a road trip!! *dances* =)

Good job on the Mum moment :) And your week sounds like such fun!! On my mind today... if I made the right decision this week... and how I'm going to politely decline a job offer in T-30 minutes. I've never had to do it before! :S

Your trip sounds like so much fun - who doesn't love a good fiesta! We're headed to New Orleans Saturday for a wedding, and I cannot wait! Lots to look forward to all the way around!

So jealous of your three-day week! And ohhhh Zooey Deschanel. I love that movie, and I love her style in general - she's one of those classic beauties that always looks good!

I'm so excited for your trip at the end of the week. It will be fabulous for you.

Today I'm a bit melancholy and out of sorts. Work, family, friends...I'm just letting it get to me today.

I can't believe the marathon is 5 months away! I need to pick out a training plan! Sounds like a fun short week you have ahead. I love those. Wednesday, I'm planning to hang out with a friend who is graduating from law school and leaving town. I'm sad to see her go, but it will be fun to hang out for the afternoon.

I also wish I had Zooey Deschanel's wardrobe from the summer. It's so cute. That movie really is awesome..and I so agree with you that not watching it immediately after a break-up. It really is pretty true to life. My favourite part is the dancing scene..too cute!!

Have a great (short) week!

a kitchen gadget!? I'm intrigued. Can't wait to see what it is.

I'm still up in the air over 500 Days of Summer. I waited a the allotted time period before seeing it and for some reason it still kind of bugs me. I'm not sure why.

I love (500) Days of Summer! It's one of my all-time faves. And Zooey's wardrobe? Swoon. I love her style.

Today? Today I'm actually going to go to the law library and get work done. Time has run out to "pretend" I'm working at home.

On my mind this morning? - how we are going to get all the mowing done before we leave for Tucson with all the rain predicted for the next two days! AUGHHHH!!! It will be so good to feel heat and sun - can't wait and I promise not to complain even if I feel extremely overheated!

Being able to come up with a recipe from the stuff in my fridge is my life's goal. Seriously. I want nothign more than to figure out a way to take the onion slices, garlic, pickled ginger and other randomness in my fridge and make somethign yummy. Ugh. I think I just need to be more brave!

Oh good- can't wait to see what the giveaway is because I really need to add things to my registry. Our cupboards are full already so I'm terrible at the wedding registry thing haha.

So jealous of your trip to AZ!

I know it's sort of lame, but I have become obsessed with making meals out of whatever is lying around and making sure NOTHING goes to waste. I get a perverse satisfaction out of it.

Sounds like you are going to have a fun weekend coming up with your family!

Can't wait to see what this kitchen gadget is!

I really want to see 500 Days of Summer. Now that I trust your judgement so much (based on the Paris recommendations) I will definitely check it out.

Speaking of Paris---we leave in 5 days. Looking forward to bike riding, wine sipping, museum perusing, and 4 glorious days in The City of Light! We've had a little family tragedy that has made it difficult to leave...but we are going ahead with plans and are set to fly out of Pittsburgh at 3pm on Saturday!

Awwwww 500 Days of Summer. You have no idea what you started introducing me to that movie at Christmas. I have watched it many times since. My FAVORITE part of the movie (among many) - is when he flips out in the staff meeting about greeting cards. Ahhh so funny. And I heart Zoe.

Also, you can officially be dubbed a natural cook. Once you start doing the whole "I WILL find a recipe out of this" -- you know you're good ;)

I love it when I am able to use the odds and ends in the fridge!

I always want celebrities wardrobes...I really would love Alison's on the Biggest Loser! She always dresses amazing!

I have been thinking A LOT about the marathon the last few days - as I eat loads of tzatiki and pita bread and approach the FOUR week mark of no running. Eeei!

CAN'T WAIT THOUGH!

I've heard a lot about 500 Days of Summer, but I've yet to actually see it... I think I'm gonna have to get it sometime soon. I love Zoey Deschanel in anything, although I'm not so keen on her sister in Bones.
