Wine and Love v10

You all know the drill.  It's wine and love time - post theme brought to you by the lovely Nora

Wine:
- My gradma has not been doing very well lately.  She has been in the ER multiple times as her BP keeps spiking and they can't seem to figure out what is causing it.  Luckily I will see her this weekend and will get some alone time with her, which I am very thankful for.
- This whole debt ceiling debacle.  It frustrates me on so many levels.  Regardless of your political affiliation, I think all Americans can agree that a compromise of some sort has to be reach asap.  It's really a shame that we might lose our AAA credit rating, which means that interest rates will likely rise - which is bad for EVERYONE, especially considering the fact that our economy is still in the midst of a recovery that has sort of stalled out.  ** steps off soap box **
- The 3 things I ordered during the Ann Taylor Loft online sale arrived and they do not fit me.  They are so big on me, and no I am most definitely not losing weight.  They must have changed their sizing.  Super bummed as I was very excited about the jean skirt.  Here's hoping the local store carries it!

Love:
- Passing Level I of the CFA.  No need to expound on that, you all know how much that meant to me.  And one of closest friends brought me beautiful congratulatory flowers.  Actually, they were from her 7 month old son.  He's a charmer.  Little does he know he is the first guy to give me flowers in * pauses to calculate * 4 years.  Ufda.  Perhaps that is something for the wine list instead.  Ha.
- Living across a bridge from one of my closest friends from college.  It's awesome to just walk across the bridge if I want to meet up for a drink or something.  Sadly, she is moving soon, but I will enjoy her and her husband's company while I can!
- Pickle juice.  I know this disgusting to many, but it's a great way for me to replenish my sodium level after these intense run club workouts!
- The weekend I have ahead of me!  I'll celebrate my youngest nephew's baptism and my oldest nephew's 7th birthday.  Can I just tell you how much fun I had picking out the books for his birthday present??  He reads a grade level ahead so I was able to pick out some fun chapter books.  :)

Your turn!  What's your wine(s) and love(s) of the week?

Oooo, what books did you get? I'm really into boys chapter books right now since all but one of my tutoring kids this summer are boys :)

Agree about the debt ceiling thing- what annoys me the most is how little it seems to progress from day to day. Teachers get so much crap for everything but can you imagine if we EVER wasted this much time? ah!

Lisa, I am so with you on this whole debt ceiling debacle. I probably spend way more time and energy than I should freaking out about it on a daily basis. Other than contacting congressmen there's not much I can do.

Wine: the semester starts soon and I'm not where I wanted to be with research projects or class prep, and I'm starting to feel a little anxious about that. I woke up at 4:30 this morning to meet my group for a run at 5:15, but I had such a bad headache that I decided to go back to bed instead.

Love: I am done writing an article! Today is hair cut day!

This credit thing scares the shit out of me. When you have rental properties or interest only loans it can have a huge impact on my family income and support. I have to have faith that we're not going to get totally screwed here, but I hope the compromise is reached quickly.

We're hoping that we are getting to the bottom of Grandma's blood pressure problems, so hopefully she is on the road to better health soon!
We are looking forward to a fun celebration on Sunday with Charlie's Baptism and James's 7th Birthday! It will be good to have a family gathering again!

When Obama gave his speech on Monday, the twitter world was going crazy because so many people were upset that he would dare interrupt the Bachelorette to talk about the debt issues. I don't twitter, but I almost wanted to start just so I could tell people they needed to get their priorities straight! (Off my soapbox now too!)

Hope your Grandma is feeling better soon!

Oh I hope your grandma gets better soon! I think the scariest thing about the debt ceiling is that it will affect a lot of people, not just Americans.

I am loving that it's one more day of work and then I am off for two weeks. And I get to see my mom tomorrow!

I absolutely HATE it when something I buy doesn't fit, even though I've bought the 'correct' size! Drives me insane!

I really hope your grandma gets better soon and you all have a great time with both of your nephews.

Ah, pickle juice. That reminds me of my old roommate from a few years back. He used to drink it ALL the time. It cracked me up AND grossed me out at the same time.

I really hope your Gram is going to get better soon. Thinking of her and the family!

Oh, and the debt thing. I'm so with you on that. It's really not ok and a bit of an embarassment overall quite frankly. At least to me.

That was so sweet of B and Mr. O to give you flowers! Enjoy seeing your family on this special occasion and I hope your grandma will be okay and will have strength to get her through everything!

That LOFT sale seemed amazing, but I had to restrain myself bc I know that often things don't fit me in the store like I imagine they will. They do have some super cute stuff though right now.

I love picking up out books for the boy's niece & nephew. It's so much fun. Her 4th birthday party is next weekend, and I haven't bought anything yet, but I'm definitely looking forward to search the bookstore for the perfect book!
