Wine and Love v9

Woo hoo - almost the weekend!  You know the drill.  Nora hosts.  We talk about what drives us to grab for a glass of wine and what we are loving.

Wine:
- The heat.  I know some people think we are babies to complain about 110+ heat indexes, but raise your hand if you have experiences both 110+ heat indexes and a -30 wind chill this year....  I feel that since we have had both extremes, I can complain about this heat.  It's ridiculous and does not make it very enjoyable to do anything.

Love:
- The new iPhone ap/website "My Fitness Pal".  It's genius, really.  I've been tracking my food intake/exercise for the last 10 days or so and it's been very eye opening.  Like it turns out that I rarely eat enough carbs.  Which isn't surprising since I am gluten free.  But as a runner, that is something I need to work on as carbs are very important.  I will probably do a post on this at some point!
- The rec center where my run club meets gave us popsicles after our workout on Wednesday!  And I got one of my fave flavors - rootbeer!!  Mmm!  You are never too old to enjoy a popsicle.  :)
- Searching for recipes for the dinner I will host when some bloggers come to town next month!
- The fact that I will be home this weekend.  I was going to say it was going to be an unplanned weekend, but I have run club Sat am, a skype chat on Sat afternoon, a bbq Sat night, a potential brunch on Sunday, and then I will attend a musical on Sunday afternoon.  And maybe meet a friend's baby if she is up for visitors.  :)  So sort of a decent amount of stuff, but I have Friday night free and most of Saturday afternoon free.
- My run club.  I did not enjoy this week's workout because this heat and humidity sucks my will to live, but it's really fun to run with others!
- Making plans for my half marathon trip to Victoria, BC.  Super duper excited for this!

What are you wine & love of the week?  I love that I only have one wine for the week.  Life is pretty darn fantastic these days.  I don't have much to complain about, and for that, I feel very blessed.

Yay and your one wine is the weather, which is something we unfortunately cannot do anything about! You have obviously made a big change that has made you a lot happier- yay for that :)

My wine this week is that if I hear another kid say to me, "I'm hot" I may cry... I FEEL IT TOO CHILDREN. I also will be unimpressed if another one of them asks me to turn on the AC either at the summer school where we do not have AC or at their own house haha, definitely mom and dad's job (and some of them don't have AC either so I don't think we can do that haha)

Now I want a popsicle and it's not even 7:30 in the morning.

Wine this week: Not getting enough sleep. Between packing our apartment, packing for our weekend trip, working, and trying to spend time with the hubz, sleep has definitely fallen by the wayside.

Love this week: Today is my Friday, and I'm working four (or even three) day weeks for the next three weeks.

Woo hip!

Wine: like you, I think this heat is complete bs, especially after the winter we had. My hubs has had trouble sleeping this week and is cranky as a result.

Love: A planned outing today with a friend to do some shopping to replace some worn-out/stained work clothes. Blueberries in my oatmeal, in my salads, with my sherbet.

Wine: -30 degree windchills? Lisa, that was our actual temperature and windchills went to -50 or lower! If I have to compare the extreme heat to the extreme cold, I pick the heat. My body is not made for bitter cold! Well, that is mainly because I live in air conditioned comfort, work in it, and drive in it, so I have no real reason to complain about the heat, but my heart goes out to those who have to work outside or live with out air conditioning! :(!

I couldn't tell you the last time I had a popsicle and I don't think I've ever had a root beer one. Sounds pretty yummy to me! Your weekend sounds like a lovely combination of fun + relaxing; what musical are you going to see?

Oh, and holding new babies? Always a plus! I think you get the award for the longest list of loves this week :)

I completely agree on the weather thing! If I'm going to endure a Snowmageddon and crazy cold wind chills, I don't *also* want to endure 110+ degree heat index. Craziness! I left Texas (where there is NO snow) so that I could enjoy mild summers. Come on, weather!

LOL, I love your comment about never being too old to have a popsicle. I haven't had one this summer yet. Must get on that!

I'm glad your love list is so long and that life is going so well for you! Told you the latter half of 2011 would be way better!! :)

This is a great list. I will have to check out My Fitness Pal...except right now I am using Lose It...I wonder if they are that much different?

Also, THE HEAT. Yes. Lots of wine. White please.

For carbs, you should have more beans! Yummy, full of protein AND carbs and good for you!

Sounds like you have a busy weekend planned! I love musicals; which one are you going to see?

I love that your run club gives out popsicles! Such a cute/delicious idea. And, I've never had a rootbeer flavoured popsicle before. I feel like I'm missing out!

I'd say I'd be inclined to whine about work..as always. Nothing new really, just the same old bs.

And, loving that I got to skype with my brother this morning after not being able to since March! It had been too long since we saw each other!

It hasn't been that hot here lately, but I can understand how you are feeling. Growing up in Southern Ontario, it was always hot, hot, hot in the summer! I don't miss those really hot days.

So excited about our trip!

Popsicles are ALWAYS best on hot days. I remember having them after every water day when I was in preschool. (Don't ask me how I remember this.) I haven't had a popsicle, though, in a long time. I need to remedy that!

I haven't tried My Fitness Pal yet, but it seems like the same thing I used at TrainingPeaks.com, which was incredible. I got used to a 60% carbs, 30% protein, 30% fat diet, kept my workouts in the right calorie burn space, and started dropping weight like you wouldn't believe. Just logging is incredibly effective.

Our heat has been INSANE too, but I love it. It felt like I was somewhere tropical, and after the winter we had - I needed it!

I'm always a fan of root beer flavor dessert. Of course I'm a fan of root beer too, so it really shouldn't be too much of a surprise

I love that they give you popsicles! Roob beer is a great flavor, I always enjoyed a good banana one too.

After events of the week, I have no whines. I love that I was able to talk to you tonight! Our talks always make me happy.

Hey! I love MyFitnessPal! I use it too! I also found out I wasnt drinking enough water, so I downloaded Drink-O-Matic and I LOVE it. It literally sounds an alarm like every hour and reminds me to drink water. Especially in this heat (Florida girl here) it is a good reminder. I not only feel better now that I am drinking so much more water, but I have lost weight too. Talk about a win-win! :)
