Wine & Love

Good Morning & Happy Thursday.  It's been pretty quiet around these parts lately, and it will likely be like this for awhile...  but in an effort to not go a week without blogging, here is my Wine & Love for the week, hosted by the lovely Nora!

Wine:
Work stuff continues to stress me out.  I will have to be vague because you never know who is going to stumble upon your blog.  But it hasn't been pleasant lately.  My boss is equally frustrated and isn't sleeping well either.  Misery loves company, I guess, so at least we can vent to each other.
- I feel like I have no free time right now.  I am trying to put in 20 hours of studying a week which means 2 hours 4 nights a week and 6 hours on Sat and Sun.  Which doesn't sound like much, but feels like a lot.  But I keep reminding myself it's temporary...  June will come fast, I'm sure.
- I might have to go back to Chicago for another work trip.  Usually this would make me happy as I love Chicago but I simply do not have time for a business trip as the CFA studying has taken over my life and I can't afford to lose a couple of days.  I am hoping I can just do a day trip and fly out super early & come back late that day.

Love:
- I got some awesome birthday gifts in the mail this week!  My parents sent me a webber grill!  I can't wait to figure out how to use this (ahem, have my brother show me).  And Nora sent me 2 Paris books!  I'm a total Francophile, so receiving anything related to France makes me grin ear to ear!
- The tilapia lime tacos I made last week turned out great and have been great as leftovers - which I eat in the evening and not at work.  I think we can all agree that regardless of whether you like fish/seafood, reheated seafood is the WORST SMELL EVER.  Unfortunately some of my co-workers do not realize this and continue to heat up things w/ fish/seafood...  I guess that is another wine of mine that creeped into my love for the week!
- I have a quiet weekend ahead of me, which is what I need as March is starting off busy with a wedding in North Dakota and then 2 babies showers the following weekend.  So I am going to savor this quiet, plan-free weekend!

What's your wine/love of the week?

20 hours of studying a week is a lot! I don't do anything for 20 hours a week other than work and sleep. But like you said, June will come soon! You can do it!

Boo for bad work stuff, never fun. I agree the cooking/reheating of fish and seafood is just awful...but now you can use that grill for it too...yum!

I am going to be in baby/bridal shower mode in March too- 3 weekends in a row! I wish 2 could be in one day so I could just bust them out quickly!

I'm sorry work things are not going well- I hope it's a temporary thing! Also 20 hours of studying is a LOT. LOT, LOT. It's not like you have quit work to do this!

A grill! How fun is that. Now if only spring would get here =) (Rumor has it we are getting six inches of snow tonight/tomorrow and a chance of thunder snow, which I'm unusually excited about since I've never heard/seen thunder snow!)

20 hours of studying a week sounds like a lot to me; you're a trooper!

Thank goodness tomorrow is Friday!

I hope things at work work themselves out soon for you. Being stressed about something you can't control is no fun :(

Surprise birthday gifts are fun though! :)

ugh, I hate studying. Make sure you fuel your mind with nerds and sour patch kids!

Ha - that fish comment hits close to home. Sweets wanted to buy a tuna sandwich to bring on the plane. I used my executive veto on that one. I can't help if people hate us because of our loud/active kid - I don't want them also to hate on us because we smell! =)

PARIS BOOKS---awesome gift!!! :) And just READING about people reheating seafood/fish made me gag. SERIOUSLY!

You go with the studying, girl! But make sure you always take some time out for youself to just relax, too :) I know--easier said than done--as this studying is a MUST---but as long as you're giving yourself a break here and there you'll probably accomplish more in the long run!

I am going to make those fish taco's tomorrow night I think. Cant' wait to try them!

My wine/love for the week is the same thing - being done at my current job. I am REALLY excited for my new job but also very sad to leave a great boss and coworkers who have become great friends!

What Paris books did Nora send? I'm curious! On the lookout of course! And I'm whining on work, too.

OK, was this JUST your birthday. I'm so out of it. Many greetings if I didn't send before! (Love the grill idea -- that's four-star!)

Sorry about the work stuff, and reheated seafood is NARSTY!

Wine: My holidays went by too fast.

Love: Still have another couple days and am going to pour a glass of wine and put on a movie :-)

Um, my math skills are not as great as yours, but I think that 4 x 2 hours plus 2 x 6 hours is a lot of hours to be studying!!! What do you mean it doesn't sound like much!? It sounds like too much! You are so dedicated. I am so bad at studying!

I love fish, but even first time heated fish smells pretty bad.

I am sorry you are having work issues! I hope that it's something temporary or easy to fix!

20 hours of studying on top of working full time is a lot! plus all your weekend plans and trips, I dont know how you do it all! I'm trying to study for the GMAT right now with work - it's overwhelming and I'm not even putting in anywhere close to 20 hours!

20 hours of studying makes my stomach churn. That's awful! :(

When is your test? Is this in June again?

I am sorry to see that work has been so stressful for you lately. I pray it gets better for you. It is not good when work is a negative environment -- since we spend so many hours there!!

Glad to hear that tilapia lime tacos turned out!

My wine and my love are the same. I started back at work after 13 weeks of maternity leave. I was soooo sad to start back, but I am realizing that working is the best thing for me.

Oh I'm like three days late to the game! I hope you enjoy your quiet weekend and even though it sounds like that super fast trip to Chicago would be exhausting I hope you can do it so it doesn't throw you off your studying schedule!

Work pressure when you are studying so hard must be so difficult! and honestly, that is A LOT of studying.

I am glad you have some ace things to balance it out!

I hate the feeling of not having enough "me" time, hopefully you're able to find a way to have a bit more of it soon! 20 hours is a LOT of studying, so don't feel like you're not doing a lot (or that it doesn't sound like it) because it does, that is a really big commitment and I know that personally I'd have a lot of trouble being so strict on myself and keeping to a schedule the way you have. You're doing a great job! Hope you had a lovely weekend :)
