Chopped!

Yesterday I chopped my hair!!  I have been growing out my hair for quite a while, and it has been long enough to donate for awhile now.  I originally had planned to chop it off after my marathon, but the length is driving me CRAZY!!  When I ran, I felt like a horse with a mane because my hair is always on my back!  I  tried putting it up in a bun during runs and it just didn't work.  And besides that, I just feel like my hair had surpassed the phase of looking very "presentable."  It just looked long and bleh.  It did look nice if I blow dried, straightened, and then put it in hot rollers (yes, I have to straighten it before putting it in rollers thanks to my natural curl that becomes frizz).  So I decided a couple of weeks ago that it was time to cut it!

My hair-spiration for the cut was this...

Yesterday my hair went from looking like this...

To looking like this!

I am really, really happy with how it turned out.  That is much more of a Lisa look versus the long, long locks of hair.  It feels healthy - and it moves when I turn my head!  It's a fun change for me, and looks more professional and polished.  Also, I think that I look more mature with this shorter 'do.  I will be doing a bunch of presentations next month to a (mostly) male audience, so looking a bit more mature works to my advantage!

Have you ever drastically changed your look?  I am not at all attached to my hair so it wasn't scary to cut off all that length - it was exciting!

It looks SO good, I love it! I agree with everything you said - more polished, more you, and I'm sure it's literally like a weight has been lifted!!!

It looks great! I really need to chop mine off, it's getting way too long. I've done some drastic changes a few times but mostly just with length which isn't too much!

I love it! I definitely agree that it's more "lisa" (or what I imagine lisa to be haha). My hair is super long right now, and I go back and forth between keeping it like this or cutting it really short. I'd love to cut it short but my hair is curly and idk if I want to be blowdrying it every day

It looks so cute Lisa! Sometimes you just need to switch things up! I love my long hair but I also love how easy short hair is!

Absolutely LOVE the new hair cut! I am very scared to cut my hair short because the length gives it some weight so it doesn't get AS frizzy haha.

I love the new cut! Looks so great on you :)

I've chopped all of my hair off once.....I loved it, but missed my long hair at times. But isn't that always the way?

I love the length on you, it looks great and very polished!

I've done some drastic things to my hair before... in college and several years after I used to switch b/w brown and blonde a lot. These days I'm much happier just blonde (although it's hard to keep up with) and I have cut my hair into a bob before. Didn't care for the bob.

I love it. I cut my super long hair into a shoulder length cut for medical school interviews, to look more professional. I didn't do that for residency, but the pressure was totally there. Long blond hair makes it harder to be taken seriously. Maybe someday we will equalize the workplace, unfortunately we are not quite there.

I love your new hair! It looks very chic! Right now my hair is the longest it's been in over two years, and I've been postponing getting it cut because I'd like to keep growing it out, but it's in an in-between stage that I don't like and if I go to a stylist I know that I will tell them to cut off several inches. I change my hair style relatively frequently and have made some pretty drastic changes in the past.

I told you this yesterday but it looks so so great! And you can really tell the colour difference now when you post both those pics.

I am seeing Nicole next Friday for a cut and I'm SO EXCITED! My hair isn't nearly as long as yours was but it's just reached that "bleh" point as I haven't even had a trim since Christmas. I'm looking forward to getting bangs and layers and a bit of a new look without losing too much length!

I love this cut on you so much. My mom and I have this joke about being a good person vs. having material things, "If I had to choose I'd rather be able to look at myself in the mirror and know that I'm a good person than look at myself in the mirror and think 'damn I look good in the Chanel dress,' but ideally it's be great to look in the mirror and say, 'wow I'm a really good person and I look great in this Chanel dress." So even though donating your hair was a special thing and doing the right thing is reward in itself, I give you permission to look in the mirror and say, "I'm a good person and damn my hair looks good!" :)

Oh my gosh! I love it so, so much!! It looks so healthy and vibrant and gives you a completely different look.

Back in June of 2010, I went from a long-hair brunette to a short-haired blonde! It was such a drastic and crazy change for me but it turned out great.

Just found your blog yesterday and have been enjoying it. The cut looks great--agree that it looks healthier, professional, and stylish! Biggest change I ever did was from mid back length to shoulders to donate and then later that year I kept chopping til I had a pixie--loved it! Now it's on the grow-out and I've FINALLY two years later made it back to my shoulders.

I just cut off 10 inches of my hair a few months ago!! It felt wonderful! So much healthier and easier to care for! It's a lot different washing so little hair in the shower tho! It took me a few times to remember not to use so much shampoo. It looks great on you!

I love it!!! So cute! Shapes your face great!! Bet it feels amazing.

I can relate to the annoying feeling of too long of hair. Lately, whenever I jump in my classes-- my big pony tail whips me in the face. It is painful...

Worst hair drama ever is my bangs I did a month ago. It lasted me about 1.5 weeks. HATED IT! NEver again!!

It looks great! It must have been so long to be able to keep that much of it and still donate the required amount!

I think my hair is about the same length as yours, maybe a little shorter! But it needs some style; mine is very blah.

I love love love your hair! I may use it as inspiration for my new cut. I am so over my over-grown look.

I love your new look, but you already knew that. =)

Every few years I seriously chop my hair. I love it for a short while and then begin growing it out again. I feel like I've been growing out my hair for months with no results - it's still SO SHORT! hahaha.
