The Longest Short Week

Hello, friends and happy Friday!  I hope this was a great week for you!  I don't know about you, but this week felt like the longest "short" week for me.  Many of my co-workers felt the same way.  It didn't help that there was a water main break yesterday in downtown Minneapolis.  Water was restored to my building really quickly, but it is totally discolored and actually really dirty.  Like my tub was covered in a layer of dirt.  Gross.  I ran my water for hours (as prescribed by our building management - they said to run it until it runs clear).  Well hours later, it was still discolored.  I had ran after work so needed a shower, but luckily the boyfriend came to the rescue and I was able to go over there and shower.  It sure is nice having someone to call when you are in a pinch - I haven't had that kind of person in my life for quite awhile!  Hopefully my water will be back to normal by tonight.  I guess it is a reminder to be thankful for clean water, which is something many of us take for granted (myself included).

Despite the sort of blah feeling I have about this week, I am really looking forward to the weekend.  Tonight we are doing a movie date night.  I won a football bet a month ago and am finally collecting on my night at the movies.  I think we are going to see Promised Land (I love me some Matt Damon!).  Then tomorrow we will watch the mighty Vikings take on the Green Bay Packers.  I am not a huge sports fan as you all know, but it is fun to see the Vikings in the play off (although full disclosure, I think they are such a heart break team so I think they will lose tomorrow).  I am making taco chili to share with my boyfriend and his roommates so it should be a fun, festive night!  Besides that, I've got plenty of CFA studying to do (boo).

What do you have planned for this weekend?  Are you cheering for any teams in the play offs?  Did this shorter week feel long to you as well?

Ah, don't be so hard on the Vikings. I think they have it in them to pull out a win! Adrian Peterson is on fire. I'll be rooting for them!

This week has been quiet and slow for me at work, so it hasn't felt all that long. I am thrilled Friday is here, though! Why is it short weeks tend to do that - feel longer than actual five-day weeks? So weird!

Aww sounds like you have a fun weekend ahead of you, even with all the studying!

Hope your water is back to normal soon!! This weekend will be a bit busy for us. We are having Christmas with my family and I am running as usual!

Sometimes the shortest weeks feel like the longest- why not just give the whole week off for heaven's sake?!

But seriously, enjoy your weekend despite the CFA studying! :)

I'm an Aaron Rodgers fan myself, so I'll be rooting for GB, but please don't hate me and definitely don't tell any of my Chicago friends (they might kick me out of the city - hahaha). This weekend is all about Sweets' birthday, so he might go out for drinks with a friend tonight, we're going to Zoo Lights tomorrow night (at his request) and we'll spend Sunday afternoon with his family. In addition, I'm making butternut squash mac n cheese for friends with a new baby and I would like to make a big batch of chili for ourselves - we'll see if I have time! Hope your water issue is cleared up by today - hooray for using it as an excuse to go see your man one more time this week. =)

Yea this week has seen it's fair share of disasters from this end too. Glad it's about over! Don't spend all your weekend studying.

That's terrible about the water main break! I hope your water is back to normal soon.

I am cheering for the Broncos, but I don't care nearly as much about pro football as I do about college. My Sooners are playing in the Cotton Bowl later today. I can't wait to watch!

I've been on holidays, but the week has felt pretty long actually (which is good for me!). This weekend the BF and I are doing some cooking, and we might start watching Roots.

I'm not sure who I even are about now that fantasy football is over and my team didn't make it again. I will probably still be cheering on my individual fantasy players who did so well for me this year haha. ;) Not too much on the agenda for this weekend, I go back to work on Monday after my 2 weeks off. Woot woot. Might go to some open houses to look at homes with my bff, relax, and perhaps tackle some organizing that needs to be done in my closets.

Ugh, sounds terrible about the water but I'm glad you were able to find a shower :) That was necessary for me during the hurricane earlier this year and obviously Eric was not too helpful given that he lives here haha so my parents and the gym were necessary. I definitely know what you mean though! Eric bails me out of many pinches :)

I also felt like it was a super long week even though it was only 3 days. I think it was because i got home so late from Florida on Tuesday night. I'm looking forward to organizing my life this weekend and just resting and being very low key. We have a busy January coming up so this is a nice little calm before the storm.

Such a good point to be thankful for clean water on demand!!!! I never even thought of that until you wrote it in your post. So many people live with that daily. Craziness!

Hope you had a great weekend. I felt really really off this week. I think it was a combo of coming home Tuesday night before starting work on Wednesday and then work being much busier than I expected. Hoping to recharge and organize myself a bit this weekend!

In retrospect, I feel like my week took longer to get through. Maybe that's because my day off for New Year's was right at the beginning of the week, so by Wednesday, I felt like I had to start all over again.

I don't have any big plans for the weekend. I think my cousin's niece and nephew are coming to our house tonight, and Sunday I plan on (and hopefully will actually get to carry through this) writing and scheduling my blog posts for the week and getting my room cleaned up and organized. It is a right mess at the moment. :-/

For now, though, I'm just having a glass of wine and catching up on some blogs. :) Hope you have a good weekend and good luck with any upcoming tests!

I felt the same way as you about this week. Even though it was short, every day seemed to drag on and on. We are in a slower time at work, which is nice, but in some ways just makes the day drag on longer.

Boyfriend to the rescue! He's a keeper :). I think the first week of the year is always quite slow - the weather is rubbish, everyone is tired from the festivities, and you are just waiting for it to be the weekend. Next week will be better!

This week has been odd for me - I've been on for 9 days solid, but some of them have been overnights, where I go home early, and some have been half shifts because of being on holidays. I feel a bit like a headless chicken. Also Dave has been at home the whole time (he started his new job on Thursday), so I was all out of sync.

I now have nine days off though, to give the flat a good clean and have some quiet time. :)

Did not get to see any of the play off games. I realized I hadn't watched an entire NFL football game this year, so figured I'd keep it running strong ;)

Okay, really I was working. And Ryan DVR'd the game to enjoy it with me. And then I ruined the excitement when I told him right before going to bed, "Damnit! The Vikings lost!" Fail.

I hope by now you have the water back! That is awful!!! Hope your chili turned out great! I'm sure it did :)

My long short week was shorter than yours -- I was sick and stayed home Friday. Though it may have been sick at heart or malaise. Just exhausted -- an exhaustion that didn't stop on Saturday, either.

Well, onward. Can't use sick time forever!

The short week was weird! I thought it would be great to have a day off in the middle of the week (I had to work on Monday) but really it seemed longer. Strange. I saw your water problem in the news...that's crazy. I am glad that it got fixed but it sucks that you had to deal with the weird water (and running your water for HOURS?) issues.
