Looking Forward

Greetings from LA!  I flew in on Sunday night abut today is my last full day here as I will spend the bulk of tomorrow traveling!  I haven't done a "Looking Forward" post for awhile so figured I was due for one.  I always like doing these posts because it is a good reminder of all the fun things I have to look forward to which help me "keep my chin up" as my Grandpa Neil would say.

Today I am looking forward to having dinner with my cousin who lives in the LA area!  I missed his trip home this spring for my Grandma's 90th birthday party as it fell the weekend before the CFA exam.  Since we live so far apart, it's a treat to get to see him in person.  I'm so glad I had a night free as last time I was in LA I didn't have any free time so didn't get to see him!

This week I am looking forward to going home for the 5th annual Julia Child Night!!  I am so so excited to spend some quality time with family and eat lots of delicious home-cooked food.  This is our 5th annual event - I think it is SO cool that we have kept it going for this many years - and I see no end in sight!  There aren't words to explain how cool and fun this event is.  I feel really really lucky to have such a close-knit family that comes together for this every year.  Of course I've got my striped outfit all planned out!  :)

This month I am looking forward to going to Paris!!  I leave 3 weeks from today!  It seems so far off when I booked the apartment and bought my plane ticket in July and now it's almost here!  I have not planned much for this trip as I just want to wake up each day and do whatever I feel like doing.  More than anything, I really just want to walk and walk and walk and take in all the beauty of the city.

This year I am looking forward to going home for Christmas!  I will be home for 5 full days and I am not working any of those days.  I'll be at my parents' lake home the whole time and can't wait for 5 days of family time.  Christmas is one of my favorite times of year and I am so glad I will (most likely) have a white one as it just wouldn't be Christmas without snow for me.  Since I am flying in and out of Fargo, ND for this trip, I won't get a chance to see friends but in a way it will be kind of nice as I won't stress myself out trying to fit it all in and can instead focus on savoring the time with family.

This is my last post of the week since I will be traveling and preparing for Julia Child Night, but I will be back next week with an event recap!

What are some things you are looking forward to?

I love your list -- every word of it! I can't wait to hear more about Julia Child night and I know you must be insane thinking about Paris! What a list!

I am looking forward to my art show this week! I've sold some cards already from my blog post (mail order) and I hope that's a good sign. And I'm looking forward to taking a printmaking class and one making angel plaques -- that's over the weekend! So, there's much to anticipate for us both.

You just take care and have a blast with Julia!

You have some great stuff to look forward to! I'm going to live vicariously through your Paris trip! Right now I'm really looking forward to going to the lower 48, seeing family, and meeting my brand new niece over the winter break.

I agree with Kelly, I swear I remember the first Julia Child night. Or maybe it was the second one? But I definitely remember reading about you doing them for a long long time and it's SO cool you guys have kept it going for so long and it's become such a big family event!

Hope you have a great dinner with your cousin tonight and have safe travels home. Right now I am just really really looking forward to Friday. I have the day off and I'm planning on running, going to yoga and cleaning our house top to bottom so I can truly "relax" the other three days I have off this weekend!

Julia Child night - YAY!!!!

Seriously, Paris and then the lake house for Christmas? Looking forward indeed!

Today I am looking forward to stopping at Starbucks for a drink - even if it makes me later to work than I should be. I'm tired and I think that will make a difference!

This week I am looking forward to a friend's wedding on Saturday. We're very close so I'm excited for her and I'm also excited it's only 10 minutes from our house!

This month I'm looking forward to some closure.

This year I'm looking forward to doing a handmade holiday again!

Have a safe flight!

The rest of the year is going to fly by for you ... so many good things to look forward to! I'm looking forward to a sort of spontaneous November. Our calendar usually books up quickly. But, with our Italy trip the last half of October, I just didn't make plans in November. We've already got one trip to a forest preserve and lunch at a brewery planned with friends this weekend. Can't wait to see what else is in store...

I am so happy you have a great rest of the year to look forward to since most of 2013 was so crappy for you. Between Julia Child night, Paris, and Christmas at the lake, it should be a good two months for you!

I am looking forward to Dutch running in his dachshund race this weekend, my girl's cruise, and Thanksgiving weekend! Oh, and Christmas of COURSE! :) I love this time of the year!

Ya :) Have a great trip for Julia Child and I can't believe that your Paris trip is SO close. Time sure flies!! Wonderful things to be looking forward to :)

I'm looking forward to December. Dec 1st, housemate M returns. Dec 12th my teaching term ends. Dec 20th my school term ends. And I'm so very hopeful for time to deep clean my carpets, paint my bedroom, snowshoe, and just spend time catching up with M who seriously is just a good person to be around. :)

You have A LOT to look forward to! I am so glad!

Is your grandpa by any change either British or European by origin? 'Keep your chin up' is a very British phrase!

I hope you are having a great time at Julia Child night!! I know you really love that tradition and you had said that you were working on some new recipes, so I am sure it was very exciting! We just had girls night at my house and it reminded me how much I love to cook for people, especially since when I am alone, I often eat repeat soups and easy dishes like chili or baked potatoes. Its really fun to have a bunch of people over for some good food!
