10 Days of Thanksgiving: Day 8

Today I am thankful for the library.

It's no secret that one of my most favorite hobbies is reading.  I spend a ridiculous amount of time reading about books and researching what books I want to read next.  But, I'm also really frugal and totally out of shelf space/room for book cases so as much as I'd love to go on a book buying spree, it's just not happening.  Which is why I am oh so thankful for my county's public library system.  It's a very well-utilized library system so there can be long waits for books, but something I want to read is always available - either in the physical book form or eBook.

I love reading so much so I am very thankful to have access to a library as it makes this by far my cheapest hobby!

Totally agree with this post. I can't imagine what I would do without the library. The 40+ books read in a year would definitely add up for me!

I love the library, I just wish ours was a little bit better. I think it has A LOT of outdated books so getting newer ones can be hard, and the digital loan program is not well thought out at all!

I love this post! And I love the library too. :) My library is only a block and a half from our house, which is an extra perk! Your goodreads activity is always such good inspiration for me to read more!

A good library is a great perk! Not having one in our town has made me into a "non-library" person! I've only been in the Wahpeton library once to find some tax documents I needed to fill out, so I don't even know if it is a good one or not! I am not proud of the fact that I am not a library person!

I love our library system, too! The eBook system is great, and they are pretty responsive on the wait list (usually). Definitely is a money saver! The only books I buy these days are by my most favorite authors or $1.99 or $2.99 sales on my Nook!

I am grateful for my library too! Not only the free books but the every 3 month book sales where I can fill a bag for 6.00!

I would go broke if not for the library! It's very rare for me to buy books anymore. My library system is GREAT and now I only buy books if my library doesn't have the book or I know it's one I'll want to keep.

I can't seem to figure out Charlotte's digital loan system. I love my kindle and it plus my iPhone this year have forced me forward when it comes to technology :)

I'm with you! I am so glad that I rediscovered it while traveling... It has helped me to not have to cart books all around the world!

I used to want to be like Frances in A Tree Grows in Brooklyn; she tries to read ALL the books in the library, one by one!

That's an interest we share! And yes, I, too, am grateful that I can read and enjoy so many different worlds, places and stories!

I used to visit the library a lot as a kid. Once I got older I started buying books, but I spent a LOT of money on them. I really should get back into going to the library (other than just for university stuff).
