Christmas Highlights!

I hope that everyone has a wonderful holiday weekend!  Ours couldn't have been better as Phil and I got to spend Christmas together and got to see both of our families. Here are some of the highlights!

- First and foremost, spending the holiday with this guy!

- Meeting some of Phil's extended family on Christmas Eve.  I had met all of his immediate family but it was fun to meet his aunt and cousins.  Everyone was so welcoming.

-  Eating lots of delicious food!  From tacos on Christmas Eve to a traditional Christmas meal of turkey and mashed potatoes on Christmas Day to soups made with leftover turkey and ham, and lots of food and treats in between. We definitely ate well throughout the holiday weekend!

- Hearing Phil's mom say how nice it was to have another woman in the house for Christmas.  She only has sons so she really enjoyed shopping for me and also appreciated having some extra help in the kitchen.

- Watching Oscar enjoy her first Christmas. There was a lot of excitement for her between a banana filled with catnip, the laser pointer Phil's brother got her, and all the bows and wrapping paper and such.

She loved the catnip-filled banana!

After she came down from her catnip high, she snuggled up in front of the fireplace and watched us open gifts.
- Getting to see my parents, my grandma, 3 of my siblings and their spouses, and one niece and four nephews.  I barely took any pictures but I did capture a selfie with my nephew Charlie on Christmas night.

- Going for a run with my sister, Abby.  It was snowy and pretty slippery out there but it was fun to fit a run in!

- Being spoiled with lots of great gifts from our parents.  They were so very (overly) generous!

My parents know Phil well!

What were some of the highlights of your holiday weekend?

It's nice when you can fit it all in! Unfortunately this year, my brother's girlfriend's family won out the Christmas coin toss and so we were without him for the holidays. I had a great time with my parents and aunt, uncle and cousins. We had a nice small Christmas day with green tree shaped pancakes (made by me) and then opened presents and watched the snow fall. Then I went for a nice run with my dad and we had a great dinner and more presents with the rest of the family. The day after, I had a nice breakfast with the girls. This weekend we will meet up with the rest of my Dad's side of the family for more food and presents and joy! It's kind of nice to extend it out a bit actually!

I'm so happy you were so happy this Christmas Lisa! Highlights for me included seeing Leo give big smiles to his grandparents and cousins, playing games with family, and enjoying a little extra relaxation time as my family fought over Leo duty! :)

So glad you had a nice Christmas! You fit so much in! Highlights for me were just getting to spend so much time with Max, and seeing some friends who are home for the holidays

Sounds perfect, Lisa! Filled with all the things that matter. And Oscar is adorable! We're getting snow and ice today they say. Well, they're right -- it has started. Snuggle in if you can; you're probably getting it too!

Oscar by the fireplace! So cute! Looks like you had a wonderful Christmas.

I made the Brussels sprout salad yesterday, by the way. Loved it. So glad you posted the recipe.

I had a wonderfully spoiled weekend. Lots of family time and lots of down time. A little cleaning and a little friend time. It was glorious. What is not so glorious is sitting in my office seeing the snow fall and the wind blow this afternoon. I just texted my husband to go pick up our daughter from my parents because I do NOT want to drive 45 minutes in this weather to do it tonight. I'll go get the toilet paper cuz we are literally on the last roll and the weather is getting bad ha.

Yup, it was a great Christmas! The only thing missing was Chad & family, but pretty near perfect otherwise. Last year the flu bug invaded us and this year no one was sick so that really made it great!
I pray that Abby & Ryan make it back safely after a 27 plus hour drive on some icy roads some of the way! Once they are home safely I will breathe a sigh of relief!

I am looking forward to a great 2016!!

What a fun holiday! My highlight was getting oysters the day after Christmas. We're so busy over the holiday that it was nice to just sit and relax with David over some fresh oysters.

Sounds like a wonderful Christmas weekend! :)

My highlights: candlelight service at a new-to-me church, sleeping over at my mom's, and hosting dinner for my family.

I had so much fun spending time with you and Phil this weekend. As always, it went way too fast.

That picture of Charlie -- he looks so much like James! Crazy how fast they grow up!

Oscar is adorable. Makes me want a cat. Bummer Ryan is allergic!!

That sounds like a wonderful Christmas!! The banana - too fun! I think that would have been entertaining to watch.

It sounds like you and Phil's mom have developed a really good relationship. That's so nice :-) Glad to hear his extended family was very welcoming as well.

You guys were busy busy but you did have a wonderful Christmas!!! Oscar looks so cute snuggled up in her bed in front of the fire. I enjoyed our Christmas a lot this year too. It was nice that we had Eric's family here staying with us but also could spend time with my mom and brother and we had a good balance of both as we had dinner at my mom's on Christmas Eve and then opened gifts with Eric's family back at our house Christmas Eve then on Christmas Day we went to my mom's to open gifts with her and my brother. So it was a good balance of seeing both families for us this year without it being too stressful with a bunch of travel!
