Currently: The December Version

Aside from feeling a bit worn out my schedule, here's what currently happening in my world!

Reading:  The Boys in the Boat.  Phil's mom said it was one of her favorite books of the year so I had to check it out as she is a former English teacher with great taste! I'm about half way through and am really enjoying it!

Loving: the glow of my tree. The mild winter weather we've had. Knowing that I'll get to see all of my siblings and their kids between now and Christmas.

Thinking:  about my goals for 2016.

Frustrated: by the fact that Donald Trump is still in the running for the Republican candidate and that he continues to do so well in the polls. I normally would try to watch some of the debates so I could get a feel for the candidates and their views on things but I can't handle listening to him so I have watched zero debates. I wish he would go away. Forever.

Feeling:  excited for the Christmas season and way more prepared than I usually am at this point as my Christmas cards have been mailed, all of my presents have been bought (mostly online) and most are wrapped and under the tree!

Anticipating:  spending time with my brother, sister-in-law, niece and nephew this weekend.  I don't get them to myself very often so am looking forward to seeing them, even though it will be for less than 24 hours!  We'll be doing an early Christmas and I really hope that my niece and nephew like the books I picked out for them (I have a policy of only buying books for my nieces and nephews; I feel they get more than enough toys).

Watching: the Gilmore Girls on Netflix. I have been working through the seasons for about a year now but am only on season 3 but I really want to get through them now that I know that they will be releasing a new season on Netflix!

Sad:  about the state of our world. Terrorist attacks, gun violence, poverty in other nations, you name it. There's a lot to be sad about and sometimes I feel quite hopeless about the things that are happening in our world.

Working: out 6 days a week and doing a variety of things such as running, yoga, and strength training!

Grateful: for so much.  Phil, my family, my friends, my health, a warm home,  financial security, and the list goes on and on.

Listening: to Adele's new album.  It's amazing.

Wishing: that time would slow down a bit. It scares me how fast this past year went!

What are you anticipating, watching, and grateful for these days?

I was just asking my husband yesterday, "So - Trump IS going to back out of this race, right?" I really thought it would have already happened.
I am waiting on one more item to come in , then I'm done with my Christmas shopping, too! I just have to plan our Christmas breakfast - the last thing I will have to buy fancy ingredients for.

Wow you are on top of your Christmas shopping! I haven't done any shopping haha.. whoops. I love Gilmore Girls and Adele's new album :) Right now, I'm anticipating a lot of travel the next couple months! And the holidays :)

Great job on your Christmas shopping! I have not even started mine; I am so behind.... I need to get a move on! I do not have a tree this year but did string some lights around the front window and the porch and it's so cheerful to come home to! The funny thing is that there is nobody on my block with decorations, or at least not ones I can see. It's a bit sad, really. I like the look of a Christmas light lit street!

I loved boys in the boat! I also really like "all the light we cannot see". and killing hitler.

My sad and frustrated are the same as yours. But overall, sounds like December is a good thing!

I'm anticipating a couple of fun parties -- one where we wrap gifts for 400 Community Mental Health Clients, another with old friends; watching not a lot! and grateful for good friends and good times at a busy time of year!

I wish I was more ready for Christmas as I haven't done much shopping yet, no baking, some decorating, and no wrapping! The next few weeks will be busy ones! I am usually in this same situation every year but seem to have most things done by the 24th!
I, too, wish Trump would go away and I don't trust the polls so ignore them completely. He will drop off but can't be soon enough for me!

I, too, am excited to spend time with most of the family over the holidays! And I do hope we get some snow cover and ice on the lake, especially so we can keep the men folks busy and out of our way when we are busy in the kitchen! LOL! Well, some of the men are actually great help, so shouldn't say that, I guess.

I'm with you on the year going to fast and all the tragedy and sadness in the world. It makes me feel hopeless, too. I'm thankful for a Church that lifts us up and encourages us to spread light and love in the world, even when it seems impossible. Not saying my sad feelings have gone away but it helps.

Wishing? That this 70 degree weather would stick around for awhile. It's LOVELY.
Anticipating: MARCH! I know it's early to be excited, but heck, I am.

I recently finished watching Jessica Jones, I enjoyed it but it's a bit violent and made me feel uneasy at times so now I'm planning on some lighthearted and fun Christmas movies, I didn't get to see Miracle on 34th Street last year so I want to start with that :) I'm anticipating putting up the decorations this weekend (I'm sooo behind!), will be dancing to Christmas music and sipping mulled wine. I'm grateful for all the good things this season has to offer.

How scary would it be if Trump became the next president?! I'm done Christmas shopping as well, but hate that feeling like I should be buying something else

I will have to check out that Boys in a Boat book! This is a fun survey and I think I will do it on my blog next week. I feel sad about the current state of our world often and also about the incredibly ignorant and close-minded views of some people (Trump included). I just try to look for the good and the helpers as much as possible. Luckily in my job I get to see a lot of good on a regular basis!

I am giving pretty much all of my family books this year too. Since gift giving is sooooo not my love language holidays like Christmas tend to seriously stress me out!! Books are a good and easy thing to give :)

Hope you have an awesome early Christmas with your family!

I heard about Boys in the Boat from another blogger, and I want to read it! Glad you are enjoying it.

I'm currently anticipating my Christmas party with my book club girls, watching The Blacklist, and grateful for this time of year.

Season 4 is my favorite Gilmore Girls season. I've been watching so much of it lately especially when I was sick. This year did seem to go by quickly, I can't believe it's only 2 weeks until my birthday! (/Christmas)

UGH... Donald Trump. I mean seriously. When he first announced his candidacy I thought it was a joke, but the joke seems to be continuing. We just got our tree on Friday and it is so nice to have it lit up. One of my favorite things around this time of year is an early morning with tea and a book next to the lit tree. We'll see if I get that this year (it's all about maximizing sleep time, so I rarely wake up much before Henry does).

I agree, this year flew by so quickly. And the state of the world truly is sad. It's hard to believe really.

I'm currently anticipating Christmas holidays. Three more days of work, and then I get two weeks off.

I'm currently watching Scandal. We've really gotten into it.

I'm currently grateful for the smell of the butter tarts that I just pulled out of the oven.

Yes! So glad you have so much to be grateful for and to anticipate! I'm really looking forward to seeing my family, especially three of my little nieces, in the next week or so. We also booked a trip to Costa Rica in the spring, and I'm so excited about those travel plans!

I'm also currently loving time spent in front of the lit-up tree with a good book. I just started _Head Full of Ghosts_ on the recommendation of a friend who teaches English lit at another college and specializes in horror and ghost stories.

I am with you on Trump. I want him to go away. I don't understand how he is possibly leading the polls. Who are the people getting polled? Ahh!

I'm so excited to spend time with you over Christmas!!

It's December 19, and I'm still in need of a LOT of Christmas shopping....

I am anticipating our trip home (but nervous about the 27 hour drive there...)
I am watching nothing these days as I've sort of boycotted television. But Ryan bought one of those "smart tv" things - where you can stream shows? So that may change... ;)
I am grateful for my running friends, who joined me on my 18 miler this morning. I am really going to miss them when we move!
