TGIF!

This week was my "less busy" week but it somehow ended up feeling very busy!  'Tis the season, I suppose. Here are some of the highlights from my week.

The high of my week was spending time with Phil. I didn't see him much last week due to my schedule so it was nice to get some extra time with him!

The low of my week was Nothing stands out as a low which is great!

A book I am reading is Inside the O'Briens by Lisa Genova for my January book club meeting. Genova wrote Still Alice, which I loved, so hopefully this book is good as well!

A recipe I made was this recipe from Iowa Girl Eats. If you like artichokes, I highly recommend it.  It only took 30 minutes to make, so is great for a week night meal.

For my workouts, I did strength training workouts on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday, a power yoga class on Monday, and yoga sculpt Wednesday. I went to sculpt this morning (even though I was soooo tempted to sleep in), I will run with my club tomorrow, and I'll go to a power yoga class on Sunday.

The best money I spent was on a long weekend getaway to Mexico over my birthday weekend in February! We had so much fun in Jamaica last December so decided to do a warm weather getaway again. Our last couple of vacations have been more busy/go go go, so we are both looking forward to relaxing on the beach!

My plans this weekend include celebrating Christmas with Phil tonight. We'll make dinner, bake cookies together to share with our families (if they are edible - you never know with GF baking) and open presents. Tomorrow I am running with my club and then going to brunch with everyone after the run, then video chatting with some of my favorite people. That evening we will go to Phil's work holiday party. Sunday will be spent "adulting" and going to yoga in the evening.

What was the best money you spent this week?  What are your weekend plans?

Yay for Christmas baking and time with Phil! And AWESOME about Mexico!!!

This week has been kind of blah but I'm excited to put it behind me because next week my brother and niece are out here and it's Parks' first Christmas!

I just finished Inside the OBriens! I enjoyed it, although I do not think it was as good as Still Alice. She does a good job of explaining some of the details and issues surrounding Huntington's disease.

My best money spent was on a flight to New Orleans. I have not been back there since I left in 2010 and it will be nice to go back and visit some of the old hangouts. My weekend plans include a run with a friend, a work holiday party and a lot of present wrapping, cleaning and prepping for Christmas!

Have a wonderful Christmas with Phil! Sounds hugely fun! Best money this week? Not sure -- it feels like I've spent so much I can't remember what I bought! I will say it'll probably be whatever I pay for the chair I plan to buy at IKEA tomorrow. And for weekend plans? Christmas with the kids! Leaving shortly!

Ooh, I love spending money on future travel! It's nice to have something like that to look forward to.

The best money I spent this week was on a rental car to go out to my home town. We were in town for a funeral, but that meant seeing a lot of extended family and old friends that I hadn't seen in a long, long time. Small town funerals always seem to be like a big community reunion to me, and I was so glad I went.

I've got a good mix of cleaning/getting ready for the week, going out, and doing some reading planned for this weekend. Can't wait!

Sounds like a perfect evening tomorrow! I know your cookies will turn out!
And the Mexico escape sounds good, too! I am ready for warm weather even though it has been a mild winter so far! I like the cold less and less as I age!

I haven't had anytime to read a novel this month so look forward to January!

I am hoping for ice on the lake so the men and kids can ice fish over Christmas!

The best money I spent? New tires for my car? Eh. Not really fun money being spent lately!

My weekend plans are my book club Christmas dinner tonight, a day of adulting Saturday (cleaning, decluttering, running errands), and then seeing someone for dinner that night... and then Sunday I will spend the day with my mom/nephew/brother to watch football! :)

I had today off! So I went to social media breakfast in the morning, did some last minute shopping, and a friend and I were going to go to a happy hour this afternoon, but instead just hung out at my place and talked. It was a perfect relaxing afternoon! Tomorrow night I'll go to a friends house for appetizers and love actually watching.

Ah Mexico, that sounds delightful! Haha. We are having a super warm December, for us, but I could use some sun and 80... and sitting around, let's be honest that's what I really want.

I hope you like INside the O'Brien's! I really liked it. Maybe not as much as Still Alice, but close.

I'm jealous of your Mexico trip! Where are you going in Mexico? Iowa Girl Eats has some really good recipes...I think we've only had one not so good one from her so far. Looking forward to 'seeing' you!

Sounds like you had a great weekend! I want to make that artichoke recipe! We love artichokes!! Mmmm

Glad you got some extra time with Phil this week!! What kind of cookies did you bake?

I wish there was a yoga sculpt class near me! I have been doing "yoga sculpt" workouts at home with my weights to substitute regular weight training!

Hooray for extra time with Phil and for celebrating the holiday together! Your Mexico trip sounds like it will be awesome. I really only spent money this past week on groceries and Christmas presents for my nieces, but this past month we booked a spring vacation to Costa Rica. I'm so looking forward to it!

Sounds like a lovely week! :) Glad you got to spend more time with Phil. I have all forgotten about the time when I didn't live with J, so not spending time with him is rare. ;)

The best money I spent this week was on gifts for family and friends :) My weekend plans involve cleaning, organizing and cookie-baking :)

That sounds like a nice week!

Just wanted to share that I've had a lot of luck with Bob's Mill GF flour and also using the Betty Crocker GF mixes as a starting point. I've done apple cider cookies with the sugar cookie mix that were amazing! (And these have been a huge hit! http://bakinginmybathingsuit.com/2015/02/25/youll-want-more-of-these-gluten-free-iced-molasses-cookies/)

Good luck!

I like that you baked together - that's so sweet :-) Quality time spent in the kitchen is one my favourite things.

See if I was caught up on blogs I probably would have known about the Mexico trip ;)

I cannot remember what I spent money on the week of this TGIF post but the best money I spent this week was ordering new glasses on Boxing Day - I got them for 40% off so they were an awesome deal!!
