TGIF

The first full week of 2016 has gone by in the blink of an eye. Here's a TGIF-style recap of my week.

The high of my week was getting the new tenant in the condo I own all settled in with no issues. I didn't talk about this in December, but the tenant I had for 4.5 years moved out at the end of December. I ended up hiring the property manager that manages the unit that I currently rent as I don't feel I have the time and energy to be a landlord these days. She was able to find someone to move in within days of my tenant departing. I am relieved that she found someone that is likely to be a great tenant based on her application/credit score/etc. Fingers crossed that a year from now the value will have increased enough so that I can sell it and close the chapter on owning this condo!

The low of my week was coming down with a bad head cold. I felt crummy for the majority of the week.

A book I am reading is A Pig in Provence. It's a food memoir so it counts towards the read harder challenge and it's a book I own on my nook so it's helping me reach my goal of reading all the books on my nook!

A recipe I made was a corn and jalapeno frittata that I made for Phil and I. I thought I had shared the recipe on my blog at some point but I can't find the post. It's a weight watcher's recipe so it's low calorie but very tasty! I added turkey kielbasa to it to bump up the protein. Sorry, I have no picture to share.

For my workouts, I ran and went to a power yoga class on Monday, rested Tuesday and Wednesday thanks to my cold, ran on Thursday, and went to a power yoga class this morning. I usually like to go to yoga sculpt on Friday mornings but I think a 98 degree room + high intensity workout would not be good since I'm still recovering from my cold. Tomorrow I will run with my club and on Sunday I'm hoping to feel well enough to go to yoga sculpt.

The best money I spent was on cold medicine.  Thrilling, I know. I'm mostly excited that I really did not spend much money this week as I am trying to do a bit of a spending fast since November and December were such expensive months with holiday shopping and travel expenses and such.

My plans this weekend include getting together with another couple tonight to play cards, running with my club tomorrow, a date night with Phil tomorrow night (we are going to a new-to-us place we've been wanting to check out), and and then yoga and video chats with Nora and Alli on Sunday.  I feel like I have the *right* amount of plans for the weekend and am really striving to keep making the right amount of plans going forward so I can avoid feeling overwhelmed like I did in the fall!

What was the high of your week?  Have you made any new recipes recently?

I am sure you are very relieved about finding a tenant so fast for your condo. Just wait, you will see that with a property manager, even if they are taking a cut, it is so much easier and it's almost like not being a landlord! I remember having to manage my rental property on my own and I was a mess. I am just not really cut out for it. Once I got a property manager, it's just so nice to get a check each month and not have to worry about anything! I don't even mind if that means he would pay someone to fix some things that I may have fixed myself, which incurs more cost - it's totally worth it for the peace of mind. Who knows, you may keep the condo longer than you think, now that it's going to be more hassle free!

I have not made any new recipes this week, but one of my yearly goals is to try to make at least one new thing a week, or 52 new things this year. I need to get cracking!

Sorry you're sick! Hope you fight it off quickly! I was sick all of December and yesterday I woke up feeling like I was fighting something again, ugh :/ So that was the low of my week haha the high was babysitting Max yesterday and seeing my friend I haven't seen in over a month! I haven't made any new recipes lately but I've been reading up a lot on energy balls and considering making some today.

I'm so glad you found a tenant so quickly! I'm praying my property manager gets my place occupied this month!
I'm so sorry you have been sick, I know how miserable that is!
I think you are doing a great job so far with the scheduling! I hope you have a fantastic weekend!

I wish we had a property manager for our 4-plex, but that service is not prevalent in the rural area! It sounds like you have the perfect fit!

My goal for this week is to un-decorate at the lake! It will take some time so have no other plans for the weekend.

I hope you are totally healthy by the beginning of the new week! So many have colds, and stomach flu around here that I am thankful we have skipped the bugs!

Oh, such good news about finding the tenant for your condo; I know that was a bit of a concern, so hooray for having it off your plate for a year.

Can't wait to see your face on Sunday :) Hope you continue to feel better and TGIF!

I am so glad that you found a new tenant!

The high of my week was dinner with my friend Kate. It's always great to spend time with Kate plus we went to Kefi (the Greek place that Chris and I took you to when you were in for my birthday).

I just tried Two Ingredient Pizza Dough/Flatbread. It was actually 4 ingredients for me since I would never waste my money on self rising flour, but it worked out great.

Yay on the condo! You are such a grown up Lisa :) My role model.

Highs of the week would be finally getting some blogging done. It took me 3 hours to get my food blog post up!

I didn't try new recipes this week but I made this which is Sugarface's favorite.

I remember how stressful it was trying to find a tenant for my condo, and the moment I decided to hire a property manager was the moment all that stress came off my shoulders. So definitely know how you feel. It's been a handful of years now, and it's gone smoothly. Every month, rent comes in, and the property management fee is a little percentage of it. Worth not having to deal with a headache of any sort!

I'm sorry you came down with a head cold this week!! Yuck! I hope you feel better ASAP.

Sound like you have a perfect weekend planned! Enjoy!!

High of my week - cooking a gourmet dinner with Ryan last night
Low of my week - vacuuming the ceiling (I can't wait for our house to sell...) lol

Hope you are feeling better soon! Being sick is not fun at all. That's awesome that you were able to get a new renter for your condo so quickly! Must be a bit of a relief

So glad to hear about the ease of acquiring a new renter and I hope you can sell in a year or so too--what a relief that will be :) So sorry to hear about the cold though and hope it passes quickly!

The high of this week...well there's three. We had a snow/ice day which turned into two extra full days off for me and in a sense almost felt like an extra week of vacation which I truthfully had really been desiring. I now feel excited and ready to dive straight into the rest of the weeks of this term. I DID have a full work day in the office on Thursday...and it was one of the best days. Everyone was happy, new programming was discussed, my students stopped by and were excited, and I'm oh so hopeful that some additional pieces are going to fall into place in the next week or so. And finally yesterday (Friday) I took my favorite aunt up to the mountain--the dogs had an hour or so in the snow, we drank cocktails in the lodge, & met my cousin and her husband for lunch AND it was an absolutely gloriously beautiful day on the mountain. Tonight I'm headed to family dinner...so truly, it's been a pretty amazing week of highs all around :)

And YES, you should check out the Shrimp & Chicken Gumbo I pinned and pinterest and mentioned in one of my posts last week---it's amazing!! It fed me all week and I just froze the remainder for future meals also.

I loved Pig in Provence -- I want to go to her cooking classes. Try On Rue Tatin, too, if you haven't read it. Similar but different!

Didn't realize you still had the renter and condo and all. Glad you have someone new and hope it all goes well with them.

Your recipe sounds GREAT!

What lately? Well, yesterday was my baking class at Zingerman's and I made three cakes -- two two die for, one that I think I can do a little better with if I modify the recipe. And had TONS of fun!

PS -- get well!

I'm glad you found a tenant for a condo without any issues! That must have been a headache to deal with last month. And I hope you feel better soon!!

The high of my week was probably going to the circus with two friends on Thursday! It was a really, really fun night and the performances/animals were awesome. (Though, at a certain point, I had a moral dilemma for being there and being entertained by these animals. Does it help if all proceeds for the night went to a children's cancer charity? Eep.)

I'm sorry you had a cold- being sick is the worst! I'm glad you found a tenant though! :)
I was thinking of you today as this weekend has been literally CRAZY. I am sitting down right now for the first time the entire weekend I think- other than earlier today when Max was sleeping on me. I really didn't mean for this weekend to get so out of control but somehow it did. I'm glad I didn't even attempt to make my New Years Resolution have to do with less plans because that would've been a first weekend fail!

Ugh having a cold put a huge damper on my week as well. Combine that with a couple of long days at work and just trying to get back into the swing of the things it wasn't a great week. But I've spent a lot of time resting and also prepping this weekend so I'm hoping week 2 will be a lot smoother. I definitely love the feeling of being able to go without excess in January, I really don't even feel tempted to eat bad, spend money, not workout etc because I did that soooo much in the fall, but really especially in December, it's easy to get back on track in January because I'm so craving it. Now if only that could stick throughout the whole year!

That's great that you got a new tenant so quickly but it sucks that you have a cold - I hope you're feeling better. Please post the frittata recipe for your Tuesday recipe post, I'm doing a calorie controlled diet and this sounds great :D I made a new recipe yesterday which was slow cooker mushroom stroganoff and it was so easy and tasty that I'll make it again, the only criticism is that it was a bit soupy so next time I'll add some corn flour/starch at the end to thicken it up.

Glad to hear that everything went well with the tenant.

The fritatta sounds good! I love my egg recipes with a bit of heat.

Hope you're feeling better :-)

The first week of the new year went by sooo fast! I can imagine that it must be stressful to rent out your condo.... but hopefully, you can sell it soon.

Hope you're filling better. Colds suck!
