10 Days of Thanksgiving: Day 9 - Family

Today I am thankful for my family.

As I've gotten older, I've realized that it's not a given that family relationships will stay intact. I've heard stories of families that have drifted apart or have been divided by arguments. This realization makes me even more thankful that my family has remained close. Granted, I don't see my family as often as I'd like as we are spread out across the U.S. and have such busy schedule. But that just makes me appreciate the time we spend together even more.

Playing rummy at the lake!

My younger sister and me (some people think we look like twins!)

At the lake with Evie and Charlie

My adorable parents, who will celebrate 47 years of marriage next month!

My handsome nephew, Matthew, and me.
I am also thankful that I have a large extended family that has remained quite close. Things like Facebook and Instagram have allowed me to stay in touch with family members that live far away. But I'm glad that our annual Julia Child event brings some of my mom's side of the family together!  We had about 30 people in attendance this year!

What are you thankful for today?

Family is so important and I, too, am so happy that there is not a division in ours like I see in others. It is truly a blessing!

I love how you often post about your family -- they sound like wonderful people and I love that you have such a great relationship with them, including the little ones. Yes, family IS the best and we are both lucky to have good ones!

I adore my family! It's definitely challenging as everyone gets older to see everyone but I'm fortunate that my brother and SIL live close!

You and your sister definitely look alike! Hooray for such an awesome family. Not everybody is blessed with a strong bond.

How nice that your extended family is so close. I am always a little jealous of those types of families! Holidays and get togethers look so fun!

I'm very close with my nuclear family, but not so much with my extended family. Holidays always feel very awkward and weird, sigh.

It's great that your family has remained so close over the years, especially being spread out! That feels uncommon, nowadays!

Love this post - and it very close to mine and Ryan's heart. I love our time with family so much. I've been away for almost 10 years now, and the holidays never get easier!

So grateful for everyone - and grateful for our sister friendship that was grown over the years :)

You and your sister do look a lot alike!

It's so nice that you and your family members are so close. It's so sad to hear about families that spend the holidays yelling and bickering.

Family is always a good one!! As much as my family does drive me crazy from time to time, I am very very thankful for them and definitely wouldn't be where I am right now without their support.
