TGIF

TGIF. Times 1,000. This was kind of a long and brutal week for me so I am happy to see it come to a close! Here's how my week shaped up.

The high of my week was getting my hair cut and colored on Tuesday. I hadn't seen my hair girl since my wedding day so we had a lot to catch up on between the wedding, honeymoon, and talking about my pregnancy! As usual, she did an awesome job. She darkened the color a bit and took quite a bit length off - maybe 5-6"?

The low of my week was having a crappy week at work. A couple of different things happened that upset or frustrated me. This is the first 'bad' week I've had at work since I started over 2 years ago, so I know I am pretty darn lucky. This was just a really, really not great week. So bad that when I was talking to Phil about it last night, he suggested that I get a massage since I was so upset/stressed. And he HATES spending money so it's a big deal that he suggested that (luckily I have a prenatal massage scheduled for next week).

A book I am reading is Bear Town by Fredrick Bachman. This came highly recommended by several people and had an average rating of over 4 stars on Goodreads so I knew I was in for a good book. I actually finished it last night. It was SO good. It's set in a small town in Sweden that is obsessed with Hockey. A terrible thing happens; will the Bear Town citizens' view of the crime, which involved a hockey player, be colored by their obsession with and support for the hockey program? Read the book to find out.

A recipe I made was fish tacos with mango salsa and beans and rice. The beans and rice recipe was 'just ok' but the tacos were so good and are pretty easy to make!

The best money I spent was on a new Chi straightener. I've had my Chi straightener for over 10 years, I think, but it died on Thursday morning. Thank goodness for Amazon Prime free same-day delivery!

My plans this weekend include staying in tonight. I'm going to make this gnocchi dish (our local grocery store sells GF gnocchi) for dinner and then we are going to go organize our basement and figure out what needs to go to Goodwill. Talk about an adult Friday night! But we are on a mission to de-clutter and get rid of stuff as we'll have listing photos taken in November. Phil's golfing on Saturday so I will lay low and relax - hopefully in the hammock as it's supposed to be a beautiful fall day. Then that night we are getting together to play cards with another couple. Sunday is another plan-free day. I'm sure I'll go to the Farmer's Market in the morning and I have a google hangout in the afternoon but besides that I have no plans!

What was the high of your week? What are you reading these days?

Love love love your hair!!! It looks fabulous!!! I need a better straightner as mine is around 12 years old. I'm glad that you have a massage scheduled and I'm sorry it's been such a terrible week :( Hopefully this weekend allows you to feel recharged and refreshed. I know sorting through the basement is a very adulting way to have to spend a Friday but I always feel better after a project like that is completed! I've managed to find a space for all of my things in the new house and I've managed to stay way tidier than the previous 3 years living at my parents.

I hope your problem at work has resolved itself and that things are back on keel! It is not fun to feel stressed and not good for your pregnancy! A massage sounds like the perfect thing, and also an open weekend.
Your hair looks great!

I'm anxious to get Beartown from the library, sounds like such a good read. Your hair looks sooo great!

I have also had my Chi straightener for almost 10 years now!!! It is still doing OK, doesn't get as hot as it used to but it works for the main purpose I use it for (my bangs). You know something is a good investment if it lasts for that long and you use it almost daily!

Hope you feel better after a restful weekend and can't wait to "see" you on Sunday!

Yeah, we all have bad work weeks but it doesn't make it one bit better that everyone has it when it's ours! I hope next week is better -- the massage sounds great (and so does Phil, by the way!).

I'm not sure I have a high point of my week, I'll have to think about it. But I am looking forward to the weekend!

Highlight of my week has been being on vacation in Montana. :) We leave Sunday, and while I'm not dreading heading home - I usually want to be back home after a week - I will miss the natural beauty here.

My week sucked, too. We're just SO short-staffed, and I am still training someone, so it's rough. Sorry your week was tough, too Your haircut looks great, though!

A night of playing cards with friends sounds fun - have a great time! I love getting together with another couple, and much prefer that to larger group gatherings.

Sorry to hear about your rough couple weeks at work. A massage is definitely in order :-) Hopefully things are better for you at work soon.

Your hair looks great! I don't usually colour my hair, but am thinking I might try that balayage that is so "in" these days.

I love that haircut! It looks really great on you. I have one on Wednesday and I am debating between just touching it up vs chopping it off again.

Sorry that work was a pain last week, but I have a feeling that this week is going to be better! Hopefully you are rested after the weekend and you can shake off last week and start afresh!

Last week was a busy one for me, with after work activities on 4 of the 5 days! Yikes. I guess it's good to get it out of my system now, as Jan - June will be pretty lacking in that front!

Last week was a crazy one for me, too! Work has been NUTS, mostly because we all lost a week of work due to the storm, so now we're paying for it! It's all good, though. Makes the days go by fast at least!

The high of my weekend (since I'm commenting on a Monday, haha) was book club on Friday night, which was filled with lots of laughs and a surprising amount of discussion about the book! (We... really don't discuss our books a whole lot, ha.) I'm currently reading The Way to London to review on my blog... gotta finish it by Friday, eeks!

Yay for fresh haircuts & color. It's such an indulgence, but also worth it.

That gnochi dish sounds delicious! Bookmarked!
