Looking Ahead

First off - thank you so much for all the sweet, kind, encouraging comments. One good part about going through something difficult is that I am reminded how many amazing people I have in my life!

Yesterday's post was a heavy one... Yes, I am sad and I miss the Barrister, but luckily, I have so much to look forward to. 2010 was a tough year for me - both professionally and personally. I was not sad to ring in the new year. But I am hopeful and believe that 2011 holds great things for me.

So I will take my eyes off the rear view mirror of life. I will work on letting go of all that happened in 2010. Luckily, I've got lots of exciting things to look forward to:

  • Sister time. I'm flying down to Tucson over MLK weekend to visit my sister Abby and and her husband. I can't wait to thaw out and see the sun! While I'm there, we'll drive up to Phoenix and visit one of my best friends who had a baby in December. I can't wait to meet my faux niece, Elle!

  • Meet Me in St Louis. Days after the break-up, I bought an inexpensive plane ticket to visit Nora! I'll head there the last weekend of January. I can't wait to discover her city, meet her mom and dad, enjoy some Mexican food, and maybe take in the penguin exhibit at the zoo!

  • 30. On February 6th, I'll exit my 20s, and enter my 30s. I'm still struggling to wrap my mind around this as I don't feel like I should be turning 30. Ready or not, though, here it comes. I'm having a French-themed 30th birthday party (of course, what else would you expect from a Francophile like me) and am looking forward to celebrating with family and friends!

  • An American Girl in Paris. The week after my birthday, I'll fly to Paris where I'll spend 8 fabulous days! I'm renting an apartment in the Marais and will chronicle my journey on my France blog. Hopefully you'll hop over there and follow along (I'll remind you of the address when we are closer to my departure).

  • Cherry Blossoms. In April, I'll head to DC to run the Cherry Blossom run with Charbelle! I'll be staying with Becky! Mandy is meeting up with us as well, and Charbelle is staying with Jess, so it will be quite the blogger meet-up!!

The first 4 months of the year will fly by with all the trips! I heart traveling so am so excited!

What are you looking forward to in 2011?

Yay! I'm so excited for your trip to StL. Just can't wait =) I'm looking forward to your visit, my trip to Florida in February, hitting up the opening day Cardinals game in March with my dad, May which will be a whirlwind of graduations and weddings, and then a big life change in June ;-) Oh! And the State Fair in August where I hope to ingest an insane amount of fried food on a stick. Like a lot of it. And more of Sweet Martha Cookies (I hope I got the name right...)

I'm glad you have so much to look forward to this year! "So I will take my eyes off the rear view mirror of life" - perfect, perfect attitude. 2011 is going to be a brilliant year for you, and Paris will be perfect! I need to start working on my list of things to look forward to this year :)

You have quite the start of 2011 planned with all of your trips! But it will be so much fun! :)

I will definitely follow your Paris trip along on your blog :)

Okay, so I'm commenting on both your blogs from the past 2 days.

First off ... Im going to make a postive response in that you are such an amazing writer, Lisa! Seriously! You have a way of expressing yourself that is just incredible.

I am so sorry you had to go through this. But don't feel ike any of this was your fault, or something you did wrong. You did the right thing - you followed your gut and knew that this wasn't a relationship that was making you happy.

So thank God you have so many amazing opportunities coming up! Wow - 2011 IS going to be an amazing year. Just all the great trips you have planned alone! I am SO excited to see you next weekend. We are going to have a great time!

Oh my gosh you are going on some fun trips! And you aren't the only one to be happy to say goodbye to 2010. I was SO ready for that year to be over.

Here's to 2011 being amazing.

*I* stayed at an apartment in the Marais in Paris!!! Too cool!! Oh it's so much fun there. It's so close to Notre Dame and it's so fun to walk around and be so close to it. It's very central so it was a great place.

Please do me a favor and go the Pere Lachaise - it's a cemetery but it is SO COOL. Go google it and look at pictures. Jim Morrison, Collete, Oscar Wilde and Isadora Duncan are buried there (among a few other famous people). It's a very unique cemetery.

Ooooooh la la - I'd love to hear more about what you are doing for your French themed 30th birthday!! I have a bunch of friends turning 30 this year, and then myself and a bunch more next year, and we all want to do something new and fun for our parties.

This year I am looking forward to my sister's wedding. I am the wedding planner, and it is super fun!!!

Hello :) I saw your comment on Emily Jane's latest post, and was just thinking how I could have written it myself! You wrote exactly how I felt. I also saw that we shared names and I was curious to see if maybe you were an aquarius (I don't know if you believe in any of that hokey stuff! :P But I was just curious because the things you said hit so close to home) so I headed over to your blog. And what I found out is that we share birthdays! Haha. My birthday is February 6th as well. I just thought it was funny, and I wanted to say hi, and good luck in this new year! <3

Oh, and I'm sorry if I sound really weird in my comment. I promise I'm not (too) weird in person! Hehe. I hit publish and realized that I could come off sounding really odd. Lol.

Channel your inner teenager and SLAM the door closed on everything bad that happened in 2010, one of those good hard slams that rattles the walls. You have so, so many amazing things to look forward to this year. I cannot wait to hear about them and see you in April. Its going to be so much fun.

So many exciting things going on. I know you are looking forward to marriage and kids, but don't forget to be grateful for the amazing exciting life you're leading now! While I love where I'm at, I admit that somedays I'd love your life of travel and freedom! Hope your run in DC works out so the cherry blossoms are in all their glory. It's breath taking if you are there during their peak. I'm excited for you for all the fun things you've got going on. Looking forward to hearing about them.
