10 Days of Thanksgiving: Day 1

Greetings from Dallas, Texas!!  Today kicks off the start of my "10 Days of Thanksgiving" post series.  Each year, I spend the 10 days leading up to Thanksgiving giving thanks for things, both big and small, that I am thankful for.  In years past, others have joined along, so feel free to join in the fun!  I know I have a tendency to overlook the things in my life that I have and focus on what I am working towards, so I love the holiday of Thanksgiving as it forces me to really think about what I am thankful for!

Today I am thankful for the nice ride bike sharing program as it significantly decreases my need to drive.

Oh how I love the bike share program.  You all know that, of course, as I have talked about it several times, but I figured it was a good place to start as it is something that I utilize every day from mid-April to early November.  I have put so many miles on those bikes, it's pretty amazing!  I definitely drive far less as a result as it's often quicker to bike places than drive when you factor in parking.

They put the bikes away last week, and I was so sad to see them go!  Now I will do far more walking to get places, which is still a better solution than driving!

Thanks to those bikes, I've saved gas money, reduced the wear and tear on my vehicle, and have burned lots of calories!

What is one thing you are thankful for today?

I'm still very impressed that you can bike around the city, I would be scared haha- I know i do triathlons but I'm pretty much a baby when it comes to biking :)

I love your bike-sharing program. It wouldn't be feasible where I live, but it just seems like a really great way to get around and save money!

That is a great program! I am trying to narrow down what I am most thankful for today, but there are so many things! I am thankful for my health as so many people are suffering and my heart reaches out to them!

I just LOVE that your city offers this!!!! And you know that I love the 10 Days of Thanksgiving :) I started mine already so I could have some leeway if I don't get to post every day. (Participating in NaNoWriMo this month is eating up a lot of my writing time!) I'm on Day 3 today :)

I love the idea of a biking program! Although I'm also a huge fan of walking. Basically I hate to drive :)

Yay for Minneapolis! I always loved seeing those bikes around when I was there. Today I'm thankful for friends and mentors.

Such a cool program! Just another reason your city is fabulous.

Today I'm thankful for the roof over my head; I have family in Brooklyn and Staten Island who are picking up the pieces from the storm last week (and weathering the new storm, this week) and it reminds me to really appreciate what I DO have, rather than what I don't.

Love the bike sharing program!

I'm finally getting around to blogging (and catching up on commenting)and right now I'm writing a post that is one giant thank you to everyone who's helping us with hurricane relief. I think I may participate in the 10 Days of Thanksgiving and the first thing I'm grateful for is the AMAZING people all over the country who have opened their hearts and wallets and donated their time and goods to help us here in NY/NJ. Sometimes people suck, but more often they rock!

I am thankful for the long weekend coming up and that tomorrow is a PD day. I need some time to catch up on things without students.

Yay! I'm starting my 10 days of thankful next week!

Today I'm thankful for a sense of humor in the face of all this dentist work. And so jealous of the bike sharing program!

Yesterday, I was thankful I made chili a few weeks ago and froze a bunch for future servings. It made getting dinner together super easy!

PS - Every time Chicago talks about bike sharing programs, I always think of you!

I love your bike sharing program. I am not sure why San Francisco does not have one yet, but I did check and one is currently about to start! It will be a great way to get around! I also love ALL the transportation options in my area. Its easy to use the public transit when they make it that way!

I seriously need a bike again. I miss being able to hop on my bike and go places without the need of a car.
