Giving Thanks: Day 9

I am thankful for the amazing friends in my life.

Heidi summed it up well when she described my friendship with her & Brooke over on her blog.

Besides those 2 lovely ladies, I am blessed to have so many other wonderful girlfriends. My girlfriends are indispensable. I honestly do not know what I would do without them. Most of us were single for most of our 20s and I really think this only served to strengthen our bonds. I've laughed more and cried more around these fabulous ladies and have so many great memories to reflect upon! One of my favorite memories was when I went out for wine & aps for my 27th birthday and two older ladies next to us asked us to tone it down because we were laughing too much & too loudly. I considered that a compliment - even though it felt weird getting shushed as an adult!!

In the last year, my circle of friends has grown to include the people I've met through blogging. I was going to do a separate post about my blog friends, but I decided that it didn't make sense to address them separately because I don't think of them differently than my real world friends. Granted, I have not met any of them, face-to-face, but I plan on meeting up with some of them in 2010! I am thankful for all the emails, text messages, comments, and blackberry messages that I receive from them! It makes my day and it interesting how well I've gotten to know them!

I am so blessed to be surrounded by so many wonderful, talented, compassionate women. I do not know what I would do without them!!

  1. Awww :) I'm thankful for friends too; especially in the last year or two I've had a couple of people step into my life who now I absolutely couldn't do without! And it's so lovely to have met bloggy friends too, it always fascinates me when I'm talking to people elsewhere in the world, about the connections we form and friendships we make despite being somewhere else on the planet. :) I'm thankful for finding you!

  2. Yet another lovely post Lisa. My friendships are so important to me -- all of them! I can no long distinguish between my real life friends and my blog friends, they are one in the same. My life has been so enriched by my friends.

  5. we are all your friends, just b/c we've never shaken hands. we're all real people that communicate in real time just like the other people i see face to face.

in fact, i like (and trust) people i've met through the blog more than some people i've met in person b/c blog people can live elsewhere and not become a personal threat like some in person friends have become. i really hate south carolina. have a great thanksgiving!

  6. You are very lucky to have such a great supportive group of friends, Lisa!! After living in Tucson for about 1.5 years now, and I am now just finally starting to form a group of friends -- you learn to appreciate friendship!!!

You should definitely be proud that you guys got "shushed" for laughing *too loud*.:)

It's amazing to step back and look at my friendships that have indeed endured time and space and I'm so thankful for that.

I'm just as thankful for the many relationships I have as a result of blogging, and yes, they are my real life friends too! It's amazing how I can feel so connected to people I haven't ever met but boy am I thankful for it!

I love that you were "shushed," but adults. Pretty funny.

  10. Aww, I love this post and feel the EXACT same way about my girlfriends. I LOVE having girls and spending time with my girlfriends, those are definitely some of my best memories. Since I've been moving around so much for school the last few years it's taken time to nail down a really solid group of girlfriends, but I still have about 3 girlfriends from high school that I'm really close with and AN awesome group of friends in Kamloops right now - I hope we all stay close after schools done this year!

  11. Aren't girlfriends awesome?! I, too, agree that blogfriendships or internet friendships can be as strong as face-to-face friendships.
I'm thankful for the friendship we've developed (mostly online), Lisa.

    :)
