December Re-cap

Current Book(s):
Finished - Outlander by Diana Gabaldon (really liked this one), The Awakening by Kate Chopin (did not like this one AT ALL), Downtown Owl by Chuck Klosterman (liked this one, will review after my book club meeting later this month)

* super slow month of reading for me! In my defense, Outlander is 750 pages long! So it's kind of the equivalent of 2-3 books!

Current Music:
The new Parachute CD, Losing Sleep. Great CD.

Current Shame-Inducing Guilty Pleasure:
For the month of December, it was probably Peanut Butter Balls and the kiss & suger cookies my aunt bought for me!!

Current Colors:
I wore a lot of red this month!

Current Obsessions:
It's still knitting - it's such a relaxing hobby for me, so I have been trying to make time for it at least one evening each week.

Current Drink:
December was all about Lattes!

Current Song:
"End Where I Begin" by The Script

Current Movie:
The month of December was all about cheesy Hallmark and ABCFamily Christmas movies! I'm a sucker for any sappy holiday movie!

Current TV Shows:
Nothing stands out. I barely watched TV this month since I was not home very much!

Current Wish-List:
A new coffee pot. The one I own is just terrible. Now that I am cutting back on lattes, I make coffee almost every day so I need to upgrade!

Current Needs:
- Sleep
- More hours in the day
- A 'Christmas fairy' to come & take down my tree & all the holiday decorations in my condo!

Current Triumph:
Making it to my 90 day mark at work - my first 90 days are technically "probationary" which means they can fire you without cause. I kind of stressed about this whole probationary period for the first month or so - especially when a person in our program was let go within his first 90... it's nice to have this milestone behind me!

Current Bane of my Existence:
My alarm clock. Why does 5:15 have to come so fast each morning?

Current Goal:
Get back on track in terms of eating and working out. The last 2 weeks of December were pretty bad!

Current Indulgence:
Those peanut butter balls! They were so good!

Current Blessings:
My heated house. It dipped into the -10 to -20 degree range at the end of December. That is freaking cold.

Current Slang or Saying:
"I deserve this" - I pretty much use this to convince myself to eat things I shouldn't. Like candy from my co-worker's candy drawer. Or those GF holiday treats. When I tell myself I deserve to indulge, I feel way less guilty about it!

Current (Fav) Outfit:
I wore my gray/black plaid Ann Taylor Loft dress quite a bit this month! Even though it's ridiculously cold out, my favorite outfits are still dresses. Thank God for tights. :)

Current Excitement:
I'm pretty excited about the GPS I got for Christmas. I have been playing around with the accents on it - it's lovely to listen to someone speak with an Australian or British accent. It totally makes me grin ear to ear!

Current Mood:
Content and ready for 2010 and all it has to bring.

  2. Have you tried the Keurig coffee makers? They make the best coffee, and it's the perfect amount for just one cup in the morning. I think I might surprise Mark with that for his bday!!

  3. I like that listening to the different accents on the GPS makes you grin from ear to ear - that's the kind of thing that would definitely give me a good giggle. :D
And congrats on making it past those first 90 days!

  5. I *still* haven't finished Outlander and I started it on my birthday (last JUNE)!! I think maybe I'm just not used to such tiny print lol. But if it's as wonderful as you say, I'll pick it up again as soon as I finish Her Fearful Symmetry :)

  6. I got the Keurig for Christmas and I love it. I have it programed to wake up when I do, so it literally takes 30 seconds to make a cup of coffee. Awesome. (Also, if you buy the filter you can use your own grounds, you don't have to use their K-Cups every day.)

  7. I have had Outlander on my shelf for a very long time now!
I love dresses too... I really need more of them! :)

  8. I love that 3 books is not a lot for you in December. I am trying to read 3 this month (or was it 4? I should probably check my goal) and it is going to be a serious struggle! I need more hours in the day too!

  9. What will we do without Chri-cheesy movies now that the holidays are over!? I'm kind of going into withdrawal. We celebrate the 12 days of Christmas/Epiphany at our house so it's time for us to take down our Christmas stuff too. Except it's always so sad & bare in the house when we do =(

  10. the last 2 weeks of december are always bad for everybody from a workout point of view. that's why january is filled with new year's resolutioners clogging up our gyms.

pick a goal (like a race) and start training for it. focus now is the key to gains later.

  11. For some reason, this month I read a TON!! Which I'm obviously happy about :)

If I had to wake up at 5:15 every morning, I think I'd probably be in bed by 9 :S

  14. Just reading about the negative temps you all are experiencing made me shiver. I'm cold at 18 degrees. The fact that you wear dresses makes you hard core.

Congrats on getting passing your milestone at work!

I received a GPS for Christmas too, his name is Simon and he talks to me in a British accent. Love!
