Friday Confessions

Nora did a Confessions post last Friday. They say that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, so here is my version!

  • I learned how to make scrambled eggs at the age of 27... Embarrassing, I know. I think a 5 year old could master that. I was having a friend over for brunch and decided to make breakfast burritos. Then I panicked and realized that I had never made scrambled eggs. So I called my mom (who couldn't believe I had never made them) because I had no idea how much milk to put in, or if I needed to add milk at all.
  • I have never seen a single episode of American Idol or So You Think You Can Dance.
  • I have also never seen a single Star Wars movie - and probably never will.
  • I have a life-size crush on a fictional character, Adam Braverman. He's a character on Parenthood, a new favorite show of mine. I think he is downright dreamy - and get this, he's a Minnesotan! He grew up in Alexandria which is 30 minutes from my parents' lake cabin! I should totally start a fan club if one doesn't exist!
  • When I walk on sidewalks or tiles, I try not to step on the cracks. It has nothing to do with the "don't step on the crack or you'll break your mother's back" mantra. It's one of many OCD things I do.
  • I have done solo karaoke once in my life. My brother sang a Johnny Cash song at a townie bar in Maple Grove, MN (total suburbia). He dared me to sing a song... I'm not one to turn down a dare. I sang a song by Eminem (I won't admit which one. The lyrics are TERRIBLE). It wasn't one of my finer moments. My brother's song selection was much more appropriate. What can I say, I was a stupid 22 year old who had consumed a few too many vodka crans. It was a really fun night, though.
  • You know how I told you yesterday that I work 6 cubes from my ex-boyfriend? I also work 2 floors below my ex-boyfriend. Yes, I dated 2 co-workers. I dated the one who works 6 cubes away in 2005/06, and dated the one who works 2 floors above in 2007/2008. * hangs head * I didn't technically work with either of them while we dated, but we were employed by the same company. However, in my defense, The Chariot has 300k+ employees and there are plenty of successful Chariot marriages - so it works for some. Just probably not for me.

Anything you'd like to confess on this wonderful Friday?

  2. Lol this post cracked me up a LOT. I really just can't see you doing karaoke to an Eminem song haha.

I'm still laughing about your multiple ex boyfriends at work. I guess I can see why you left- but I think it's great you are back and happy :)

  3. Hey, at least you knew (or thought you knew) that milk went into the eggs. It would've been much funnier if you asked your mom how much orange juice goes in your eggs.

  4. Out of all these things, I am most amazed that you have never seen American Idol. Now that is an accomplishment!

  5. I have never watched American Idol either! I feel so out of the loop when I'm with a group of people who talk non-stop about the show and I haven't the faintest idea of who they are talking about! I could watch one but just have no desire to do so!

  6. I want to know which Eminem song it was!!! =) (I like Eminem, there's a Friday confession.)

    I love Vodka Cranberries.

And I didn't like eggs until after I graduated from college. Now? A good scrambled egg goes a long way with me!

  9. Yes!! You totally need to tell us which Eminem song it was..that's too hilarious!!

I'm ashamed to admit, I still don't know how to make scrambled eggs. I'm not much of an egg person, so I never make them for myself. Maybe I should learn...I'm 27 now, so maybe that's the right age for such a thing??!

    Happy weekend :)

  10. I am trying REALLY HARD to picture you singing the eminem song. That is too funny! Probably the best of all your confessions! BAHA!

Once, when I was 13ish, I put my hand UNDERNEATH the strainer when I strained the kraft dinner. Not so smart and resulted in a hospital visit. Oy!

  11. My confession is that I haven't watched a full episode of a reality TV show for years. You couldn't pay me to care about them! lol

  12. You didn't scramble an egg until you were 27?!?! I laughed out loud when I read that! That is so funny! I guess if it's something you don't eat much though!

You're not missing much about the American Idol/So you think you can dance thing. Not much talent these days! I feel that way about Grey's Anatomy or any of those medical shows. It's almost like some sort of "sin" to be a nursing student and not be interested in that show - apparently.....

    My confession is.........(hmmmm):

I didn't realize until 2 weeks into my L & D rotation that the "fetus" was actually the baby. I thought the fetus was the what the baby lived inside (the placenta). Goes to show how NOT baby-crazy I am! Those 1st weeks were very confusing of that class! ;) hahaha

  14. I'm not such a Star Wars fan either. Don't worry about the scrambled egg thing...I'm still trying to figure out the omlette.

  15. I can't tell you how many times I called Mom (Grandma to you) to ask her how she made certain foods. I would be in the middle of cooking something and decide I needed to give her a call. I think she actually enjoyed it, quite frankly. And, I continued to make those calls until she was too ill to talk. I still think about those conversations while I am cooking. Now, I should probably be calling your Mom to help me out in the kitchen!!!

  16. Oh my gosh, this is great!!

I too have never watched an episode of So You Think You Can Dance or a single Star Wars film. (I kind of pride myself on the Star Wars bit.) I've also never watched any of the Indiana Jones movies.

Regarding Peter Krause (Adam Braverman), did you know that he grew up in Roseville? He attended Alexander Ramsey High School, which has now been incorporated into Roseville Area High School. I found that out when he was a guest on the Martha Stewart show and I've been itching to tell someone ever since!

  17. Ooooh I haven't seen Parenthood yet but really want to get into it. Looks great. I have two TV crushes: 1) Fictional character Matt Saracen of Friday Night Lights. I just love him (my brother-in-law says he looks like my husband.. coincidence?) He's so vulnerable and cute

    2) SO EMBARASSING BUT I'M PROUD OF IT. Jeff Probst. Yup, the host of Survivor. I saw him in person my freshman year of college and he was HOT

  18. I love the Parenthood show. Its one of our new favorite shows as well. Had no idea that actor was from MN! How awesome is that! Gotta love midwestern men.

  19. I will definitely add you to my blackberry messager- once I see my brother or sister, because I have no idea how to do it myself and they always have to add people for me haha. Or maybe I could learn...I really should learn and not make them do it for me.

Btw- after getting your address for the chia seeds, I did a little mapquesting and realized you live 22 minutes away from one of my friends! She worked with me for my first two years of teaching while her husband was in grad school in Boston, then she moved back to MN for his full time job and to have a baby. The world is so small sometimes. Might I have too much time while on vacation? I think so!

  20. This was fantastic! I'm just now reading because I took a mental health day off from the full time job to get stuff done. I still had to work at the restaurant tonight. I now have to plan my mental health days from work because more than 3 unplanned days and we're written up which is weird because we have plenty of PTO but whatever. I can plan them and I know when I'm starting towards a meltdown, like this week.
Hope you have a wonderful wonderful weekend!!
