Crayons, as long as they are nice & sharp!
2. As a child, how did your parents celebrate your birthday? (Parties, cake, you pick the dinner, etc.)
My dad would go to work a little later so he could come down in the morning with my mom to wake me up. We always got to pick our dinner (I usually picked spaghetti or spaghetti casserole if I remember correctly) and then we'd have cake after dinner & open presents. My mom would either make a made-from-scratch chocolate cake or we'd get an ice cream cake from Dairy Queen. My parents always made it a very special day for us! I had a really hard time when I had my first birthday without my parents when I went to college. It just wasn't the same to not be woken up my parents serenading me!
3. How do you feel about leggings?
The 80s called and they want their leggings back!
The 80s called and they want their leggings back!
I kid, I kid. I think they look great on most people; it's just not a look I could ever pull off!!
4. How do you prefer to follow directions? With a map? Words?
I like it when my New Zealand accented GPS tells me what to do. I am not the best drivers, so it's in everyone's best interest that I not look down at a map or to read directions!
5. What do you eat for snacks?
Vanilla yogurts w/ fresh strawberries, popcorn, grapes, or a hard boiled eggs most days. I am all about snacks. I kind of like to eat every 2-3 hours!
6. Have you ever ordered anything from an infomercial or bought any As Seen on TV products?
The only 'as seen on tv' product I bought was the water globe. It's supposed to be a fool proof way to water plants and keep them alive. Want to see how well they worked?
That's my Charlie Brown Christmas Tree'esq plant that I had to give back to my mom. I really tried to keep the dang thing alive. Total fail.
7. What’s your favorite thing about summer?
Weekends at my parents' cabin! I love weekends at my parents' cabin because I rarely wear make-up, I play in the sand and water with my nephews, I live in my swimsuit, I play cribbage with my dad, and my mom makes amazing blender drinks with fresh fruit in them. What's not to love?
Oy vey I can not wait for summer!
8. Do you have a tattoo? What and where is it?
Hells no. Do not have one, can say with 100% certainty that I never will! To each their own, but this is just not my thing!
9. Are you good at journaling?
I am really good about journaling when I travel. I have about 6-7 journals in a bin under my bed, filled with thoughts I've had while traveling.
Unless this blog counts, I am terrible about journaling my day-to-day life.
10. What’s your favorite way to eat a hamburger?
Right off the grill with lots of pickles, ketchup, and spicy mustard. Bunless, obviously. I can't imagine that there are actually gluten free buns. And if they do exist, I am sure they taste like rubbish, like all other mass produced gluten free bread products.
I think this blog definitely counts as a journal! I love summer weekends on the water!!
ReplyDeleteSummers at the cabin sound amazing! I haven't done that in forever, but I think Mister and I are going to rent a cabin for a little while this summer just to try it out =)
ReplyDeleteYour blog definitely counts as a journal! I have a pile of old hand-written, pre-blog ones too but I like to use Blurb.com to make each year of blogging into a proper bound book :)
ReplyDeleteI sort of want to come hang out at your parents cabin. It sounds so lovely and so reminiscent of my childhood summers.
ReplyDeleteI had to laugh that your GPS talks to you in a New Zealand accent. Mine is British! Haha.
I'm jealous of your weekends at the cabin, they sound amazing! (And I'm all about sharp crayons too).
ReplyDeleteLove these! I think weekends at your cabin sound so lovely!
ReplyDeleteThe way you describe your cabin makes me wish I was going to hang out with you guys there this summer..ha! But, seriously, that sounds like total bliss!! I can't wait for summer.
ReplyDeleteAh! So fitting!! On Sunday evening I made a turkey burger recipe that is our NEW FAVORITE way of eating hamburgers!!!!
ReplyDelete-I grilled the turkey burger (with some spices, onions, and jalepenos in the meat)
-brushed portobello mushrooms with fresh basil and a little olive oil
-threw a piece of cheese on the mushroom (for Ryan, no cheese for me)
-placed the burger on top
-grilled (or bake at 350) for 10 minutes
AMAZING!!!
Your explanation about summer almost made me cry. :( In fact, the other day I smelled a camp fire and started crying.
I miss you guys....
That is so neat that you journal your trips!!
I'm with you on the killing of the plants....I have no green thumb what so ever! I don't have any tattoos either...if I got one, it would have to be something that I really really liked!
ReplyDeleteSince I am making admissions today, I will confess: I wear leggings all the time. Not because I think they are cool but because they are sooo comfy. They are like a tad bit more acceptable version of sweat pants. I wear jeans to work (lucky, I know) but leggings all weekend. With long shirts to cover my butt, of course.
ReplyDeleteI'm the same way about crayons. they need to be sharp if I'm going to use them :)
ReplyDeleteI also dread spending birthdays away from the family. it's just not the same!
We've tried calling you on your birthdays and singing to you but it's just not the same! I have to agree - weekends at the cabin are the best even though it's a little humble abode! But the view of the lake is worth a million bucks! Andrew made Smores in the microwave this past weekend at the lake because it was too cold for the campfire, but he thinks that may be the best way now as the marshmallow didn't get burned! The peace lily you gave back to me is a bit tempermental that way! They tend to droop immediately if they don't receive enough water but miraculously revive themselves! Maybe some day you will get it back?
ReplyDeleteThe weekends in the summer are fabulous. I love escaping to another city...practically feels like vacation. I've been trying to write more in my journal, but it is tough to find the time. And I'm with you on the tattoos...not for me!
ReplyDeleteOh how I love posts like this! I'm able to get to know my favorite bloggers better :-) Oh, and I still love the fact your here in MN too... so cool!!
ReplyDeleteI'm the same way with journaling- I was great when I was younger and any time I am on a vacation but in day to day life no so good- but I have the blog too :)
ReplyDeleteSummers at your cabin sound awesome- I'm ready for summer too!
Those McDougall women are the cat's pajamas!
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure if you're ever been to one, but just in case you ever do, at In-N-Out Burger they actually sell bun-less hamburgers. It's one of the secret menu items, and they just wrap it up in lettuce instead.
