Bonjour! Today is Bastille Day in France, also know as La Fete Nationale or le quatorze julliet! It commemorates the storming of the Bastille prison in 1789! Do you wonder where the Bastille prison was located?
Well, right about where this commemorative statue stands!
During my trip in February, I spent a good amount of a day in the Bastille area as that is where my favorite outdoor food market was located. It's a charming little neighborhood that I will definitely return to on my next trip to Paris.
Even though I have no French ancestry, I figure today is a good day to celebrate my love for this country. I will be celebrating Bastille Day in my own little way today by wearing a French-inspired dress (the one I wore for my birthday party), eating some French foods (hoping to track down a Nicoise Salad tonight), listening to my French Cafe CD on my iPod, and watching Broken English tonight (which is a movie that is mostly set in Paris).
Viva la France!!
What a fun idea to celebrate this!
