Oh this week. My CFA stress level is at an all time high and I am preparing to co- present at a conference in Denver (fly out today). So, of course, this is the week the reorg gets announced at work. I won't say much as one never knows who might read your blog. The good news is that I will continue to report to someone in Minneapolis (so no move, thank God). Besides that, I can't say anymore, except that I'm not pleased with the changes. I am actually trying not to think too much about it right now because I can't handle more stress right now.
But the little moments carry on. It's a good thing I started this challenge because right now, I need a reminder to look for the good things in life.
2 - A 4 mile run in beautiful weather along the mighty Mississippi.
3 - Getting my weekly vanilla latte and saving 10 cents by getting the trivia of the day question right. It's more of a pride thing than a money saving thing - but hey, every cent counts.
4 - Enjoying wine on my patio with my dear aunt and uncle (whom I refer to as my St. Paul parents) followed by dinner at a Thai restaurant. I had a tough day studying and seeing them really helped lift my spirits.
5 - Walking into my parents' lake home and hearing my younger nephew excitedly exclaim, "Lisa's here!". And then he ran over and gave me a hug. Best. Feeling. Ever.
6 - Catching up with a cousin that I hadn't seen in far too many months.
7 - Eating a perfectly ripe avocado - which only cost $1! Yum!
8 - Walking into a clean condo. My cleaning service comes every other Tuesday. Right now, it's worth the money spent (which I feel is pretty minimal).
Have a great rest of the week, everyone! I fly out today for Denver and come back Friday. I'm still packing 20+ hours of studying into the week, too, so to say I am busy is an understatement.
What were your little moments of the past week?
Have a great trip to Denver and good luck with your presentation! I was wondering if the reorg was ever going to be announced. Sorry it came at such a hectic and stressful time. I hope the changes aren't as bad as you fear.
ReplyDeleteYour run sounds great. I went for a nice walk in Madrid yesterday while I was trying to stay awake and get my clock rewound from the jet lag.
I also very much enjoyed a cafe con leche this morning on my way to the Biblioteca Nacional. I'm enjoying being back in this beautiful work space.
Ugh, sorry they announced the reorganization right when you didn't want to hear about it! I'm glad you at least don't have to move! I'll check in with you soon to hear the details. I am also having super drama at work (which I also have not discussed on the blog for obvious reasons) and it's amazing just HOW exhausting it is- work is hard enough without any extra stress!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you've had some family and other good things to keep give you some relief from the crazyness.
Have a good trip and presentation. Hopefully the changes won't be too bad.
ReplyDeleteThat sounds like a good time with the family. Rock on.
ReplyDeleteWow you're super busy! Keep telling yourself that you can do it and it's totally worth it. Good luck!!
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear that you had a less than fantastic day yesterday :( Hopefully today will be better for you.
ReplyDeleteMy good thing for this week is that my cousin is coming tomorrow for three days to visit. I haven't seen her since last summer!
I am sorry to hear about the reorg. When it rains, it pours, I'm afraid. Have fun in Denver and I'm sure your presentation will go well!
ReplyDelete- Yesterday I ran earlier in the morning and I was trying to get over some soreness, so I ran really slow. It was kind of nice to be running "junk miles" and not have to focus on a goal (other than the miles). I stopped and took photos of the neighborhood, and(literally) smelled the roses!
- If you bring your own bag to the grocery store, they take off $0.03 or in some places $0.05. I am always happy about that, even though it's meager. Also, I like saving the environment.
- I went the the grocery store the other day and celery was $0.39/bunch! I thought it was a typo! But it wasn't! So I bought two!
I'm sorry you're having such a stressful time right now. I hope things start looking up soon. At least the CFA studying will be over in less than a month!
ReplyDeleteHaving my nephew to ourselves for the past two days has been my good thing! He's such a fun little guy to be around. :) And, of course, just three more days at work until my 9-day vacation. I can't wait!!
Yup, the timing for this reorg announcement couldn't come at a worse time, but I am so thankful you don't have to move! That would have made it 10 times worse! Have a good trip to Denver even though I know you will be busy! Always look for the little things to rejoice in as they are many and we don't want to miss them! I love you!
ReplyDeleteHave a great trip. I want to know about the reorg, but I'll iMessage you.
ReplyDeleteMy weekend involved a 90 minute massage, margaritas and great friends so those were awesome moments.
Sounds like your little moments post came at just the right time!
ReplyDeleteMy little/big moment over the last week was definitely finishing the marathon. I'm still trying to let it all sink in actually!
Sorry about the unhappy news. At least you report to someone here. Hope you are able to remain focused. Take care of yourself. Safe travels.
ReplyDeleteYou are a rock star for hanging in there. Seriously, I'm pretty sure most people would crack if they were in your shoes.
ReplyDeleteMy little moment wasn't when Gavin's teacher told us he bit TWO kids yesterday (hard enough to break their skin), but did happen when she promised us they'd keep working with him to figure out what's triggering this behavior and to try to help him figure out more appropriate ways to express himself. They're not giving up and that means the world to me!
Wine on a patio sounds about perfect right now ...
ReplyDeleteUgh, I am so sorry that the reorg news isn't anything too good. But I am happy you don't have to move. Hope everything is okay
ReplyDeleteYou get 10 cents off for trivia? Where do you get your coffee? Starbucks does NOT do that!! Dang!
Thinking of you during this stressful time, Lisa. Love you, sister!
Every cent does count! I get excited when some of our staple items at the grocery store are on sale because saving money, even .25 cents makes me happy =)
ReplyDeleteOne of my happy moments was this past Friday night; we had a date night for the first time in forever, and i loved eating dinner al fresco and just enjoying some alone time with Knight.
Hope the trip goes well and I know you'll kick butt on your presentation!
I love that you guys have trivia for your lattes! We don't have that. Luckily I work in a store that has a Starbucks built inside of it, so I get a discount already... But I still love that trivia idea haha.
ReplyDeleteGood luck for the rest of your week! It can't be easy to have a million things to do for work AND study over 20 hours. Thinking of you!
You're a rock star! I can't wait for you to get some quiet time after the test ;) I am exhausted just READING what you're up to all week.
ReplyDeleteAlso, the money for the cleaning service is well-spent! :)
So great that you have a cleaning service come in. We could really use one of those - or I could just commit some more time to cleaning. Mopping is currently testing my sanity. Jonah bell (dog) sheds so much that it's all we can do to sweep or vacuum regularly. I need to mop tomorrow though in addition to five million other things.
ReplyDeleteI'm late to this post but ohhhh I needed to read it! Little moments this week:
ReplyDelete*reveling in a good book - one I'd read before, and it was like visiting friends!
*knowing I was doing the right thing by asking questions about offers I received - even though it was hard
*knowing that while all this job stuff isn't "done" yet, it's one step closer!
Good luck on your stressful week and trip. I've much to catch up with on your blog! Good luck on the presentation, too. My week? Just recuperation!
ReplyDeleteSee, now those are lovely moments - re the trivia I would be so unhappy if I was asked in a coffee place and got the answer wrong!
ReplyDeleteAlso, I WANT A BALCONY.
Re : the work situation, try not to think about it till your exams are over, but if you have to, feel free to email vent at me.
Lots of love xx
