All that said, it was a perfect, relaxing lazy lake weekend. I'll let some of the pictures - and a short 5 second video - do the talking!
My mom and I finished off the rhubarb slush on Saturday. This is a signature family drink and it's TO DIE FOR!! |
I love how after nearly 43 years of marriage, my parents still enjoy their time together. Here they are relaxing on the beach on Saturday afternoon! |
Someone learned to walk since I last saw him!! Here is a short video (5 seconds) of Charlie walking! I love the 'drunker sailor' sway of a new walker. Oh, and you get to hear my voice in this video - I am the one (obnoxiously) cheering him on (and for the record, I despise the sound of my voice)!
How was your weekend? Do you like the sound of your voice? I can not handle hearing my voice recorded so I will never post a vlog unless I like mime it or something (this video is likely one of the only ones I will ever post). In grad school they recorded us doing a mock interview and I could not bring myself to watch it, even though it would have been beneficial. I cringe when I hear my voice and think - do I really sound like that?
I completely agree, I hate the sound of my voice. I feel like my voice is low sometimes and I just hate it! For grad school we have record ourselves for lessons all the time and then analyze our teaching. It's TORTURE, but it's pretty helpful once I get over the personal stuff!!
ReplyDeleteThe summer has gone by incredibly fast. I am excited for all of the fun stuff in the fall and winter, but I am sad to see summer come to a close.
I think I sound weird on answering machines but it's not *too* bad when I do vlogs I think. I think you miming in a video would be hilarious. Do it.
ReplyDeleteBoo for no more lake but what a wonderful way to close out the season! And I love the "drunken sailor" walk too! So cute!
Awww that video is so cute! It's funny because I absolutely hate my own voice too. I swear it sounds so much different to me than when I'm just talking normally! Your nephew is absolutely adorable, I love his hair. Hopefully the time from now til Thanksgiving will go really fast!
ReplyDeleteI hate the sound of my voice. It's much higher pitched than I would like and I think I sound like a little kid. I have no idea what my friend was thinking asking me to do a reading at her wedding--I kept saying "are you sure you want ME to do it?"
ReplyDeleteLove the pictures! It's so great that you have such a cool place to spend time with your family.
I love the sound of your voice! I made enough rhubarb slush a couple of weeks ago to send some home with both kids. I enjoyed a glass on Sunday evening as well! I thank your Mom for that recipe every time I sip on one!!!
ReplyDeleteLove the video of Charlie walking. So precious.
That photo of your parents is priceless.
ReplyDeleteI don't like the sound of my voice either. I think its because inside our own heads we sound different, so when we hear ourselves for real, it sounds so warped from what we are used to...like...that's not me! Your voice sounds fine to me; you can definitely hear the Northern accent when you say JOB. My friend Sarah is from MN and she says "bay-g" instead of "baaah-g" for bag. I think those things are precious though! If you decide to lip sync a vlog, I can do the voice over if you want.
I, too, love the sound of your voice! But when I hear mine, I agree! I wonder why that is? It was a very relaxing weekend and I hate to see them come to an end!
ReplyDeleteI don't like the sound of my voice, either. Which is why vlogging or any video of me is hard for me to do!
ReplyDeleteLove that you got in some nephew cuddles; he's so adorable. (on top of which you look so happy in that photo!!)
AHHHH Rhubarb slush. My favorite! I keep trying to convince josh we can have it at our wedding, he thinks i'm crazy. Wouldn't that be SO much better than cake? No likely to happen unfortunately :(
ReplyDeleteyea I have a really tough time listening to myself sing on video. Everybody else seems to think I sound fine but I hear the little inconsistencies that nobody else detects.
ReplyDeleteThat time at the lake with the family is pricless.
I have to ask...what the heck is rhubarb slush?! I saw your tweet about it and meant to ask you.
ReplyDeleteThat video is SO CUTE! I had to watch it without sound since I'm at work but I already know what your voice sounds like anyways :) I hate the sound of my voice recorded too.
ReplyDeleteCan't believe your lake weekends are already over for the summer! This summer went by so so quickly!
Oh, how I love that rhubarb slush.
ReplyDeleteRhubarb slush?? Sounds good!!! I hate last summer weekends at the lake! :( So sad!! :(
ReplyDeleteThat sounds/looks like an awesome weekend at the lake!
ReplyDeleteAnd ok, girl, YOU need to do VEDA next year. Seriously. I thought the SAME thing about myself... 'do I really sound like that? How awful'.
Now? I don't care that much anymore (you guys hear me that way anyway!).
For the record, you sound perfectly nice and normal ;) I think it has something to do with the way we hear ourselves in our heads LOL
That walking video is just too precious. What a sweetheart! So exciting! That rhubarb slush looks so refreshing -- that is my favorite thing ever. What a luxury!
ReplyDeleteLast lake weekend is so sad. Same with last "cool hike" or cool weather camping trip here!
It's the Frankenstein, drunken sailor walk. Love it! Glad you enjoyed a last hurrah at the beach!
ReplyDeleteI don't like the sound of my own voice at all. Not at all.
ReplyDeleteI'm not a fan of the way my voice sounds either. It's just too high pitched for my liking, so any time I can I try to avoid listening to it. And I too like the idea of a vlog, but I'm not sure I would ever be happy enough with how I sound to post one.
