My 1.5 week break from traveling came and went incredibly fast. Like I blinked and it was time to print my boarding pass. It is a little known fact that I am sort of obsessed with knowing airport codes (hence, the blog post title), and I use them when I talk about cities or in text messages, etc. I even got my previous boss to start to use airport codes when saving presentations as it was shorter/more efficient than spelling out the city.
So I hit the road again today. I fly out this evening for Dallas, will be there until Thursday, then head to Houston for a day, and then head to Austin for the weekend to spend time with my best friend from college! It's going to be a whirlwind week as I have a presentation on Wednesday morning and several client meetings.
I am looking forward to spending time in the Dallas and Houston sales offices, but I am most excited for quality time with these 2 ladies (and Heidi's husband, too, of course)!!
This photo was taken when we met for lunch in September. Elle and I really hit it off, so I am excited for extra time with her! |
Even though I'm traveling, I'll still be posting as I kick off my 10 Days of Thanksgiving post series on Thursday!! This is the 5th year in a row that I will do this post series! I am excited to kick it off as it's a really fun (and healthy) exercise to think of all the things and people in my life that I am thankful for! You should play along, if you feel so inclined!!
Do you have any dorky travel quirks? Besides being obsessed with knowing airport codes, I am also VERY obsessed with passport stamps. When I traveled through Europe in 2004, I would get SO excited every time we got a new passport stamp!
I'm similar to you - I like to know the airport codes of where I'm going and I like the stamps in my passport. When I checked in recently (in Tashkent) with a eticket to LHR, the check in attendant asked if I was heading to Lahore. Uh, no, that'd be Heathrow (thankfully my bags did go to Heaathrow).
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your trip and weekend with friends
I am totally obsessed with passport stamps too- and I like airport codes except when they make no sense... I can't think of any right now but I know there are a few where I'm like wait, why is that the airport code haha. I may do the 10 days of thanksgiving with you this year! :) Is it supposed to lead up to Thanksgiving... are we really 10 days away?! I swear this year is getting away from me.
ReplyDeleteI use airport codes instead of cities, too!
ReplyDeleteI'm sooo excited to see you!
ReplyDeleteGood luck with all of your work presentations/ client meetings. I am sure they will all go well.
I LOVE passport stamps too! I was so sad to give up my original passport when I changed my name after I got married. BUT i hope to have the best stamps on my married passport! Just sad I lost my JFK stamp when I came back in the country from the honeymoon. I love airport codes too, I always get them wrong though and mix up the letters.
ReplyDeleteHave a productive business trip & a fun weekend with friends! Time goes so quickly and it is unbelievable that there is only 12 days until Thanksgiving!
ReplyDeleteI can't believe it's time for your 10 Days of Thanksgiving again! I can't believe Thanksgiving is so close! Crazy times.
ReplyDeleteI hope you have a successful work trip - and a really fun time with your friends. :)
Also, I wouldn't know an airport code if it hit me in the face. Just Tampa's code, ha.
I can't believe it's already time for 10 days of Thanks. Holy Heck time is flying by.
ReplyDeleteOne of my quirks? I ALWAYS buy a new crossword puzzle book, like an actual paper one. I love having them stashed in my bag at all times even though there is one in my Nook!
More travel?! Girl, I am JEALOUS! Although I know you're a little bit tired of it, but I promise I can switch with you any time ;)
ReplyDeleteI love airport stamps too, but my friend that I went to Europe with is way crazier about them than I am, haha. She would be like OMG YES CUSTOMS STAMP TIME while I was just groaning at having to go through another round of customs. Ha. My travel quirk... I do have an obsessive need to know all airport NAMES when I go there and why airports were called that!
Have a good travel weeke!
Knowing the airport codes is really cool. I try to pick up as many as I can.
ReplyDeleteHaha as someone who books a lot of travel for others I frequently speak in airport code. It's just so much easier!
ReplyDeleteAll I know is soon enough, we'll be heading from ORD (or MDW, depending on the day) to BOS by way of CLE, BUF, RST, SYR and ABY. =) Happy traveling this week!
ReplyDeleteI am now going to just text you the next time I need to know an airport code! I'm so bad about those! Some are so weird (I don't get how they relate to the city! Can't think of one right now, but I'll let you know when I do!)
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your weekend! Seeing friends is so good for our soul :)
And I'm happy to be participating in 10 days with you again :)
Ha, I am a tad bit obsessed with airport codes, too :) In Germany, I used to learn all the license plates abbreviations (they're like airport codes, just for cities/urban areas).
ReplyDeleteHave a great time with your friends and I can't wait to see you later this month! :)
I love, love, love reading (well looking at) the skymall magazine.
ReplyDeleteThat is such a marathon travel schedule! I'm glad you were able to fit in some time with Heidi and her family at the end of it though!
ReplyDeleteI have to buy a book at the airport. Tradition!
ReplyDeleteGirl, your travel schedule tires me out and I haven't left the city limits of Nashville in months :)
I have been known to use an airport code or two! We should have a trivia about that! PDX! GO!
ReplyDeleteI hope you are having fun with the ladies! It's nice to see old friends and just spend some quality girl time with them!
I love your hair/glasses combo! Very cute.I enjoy getting to the airport early, grabbing a coffee and opening my magazine while people watching. So interesting to see all the people pass by...and their outfits (good and bad).
