Gingerbread House Decorating Party 2012

Greetings and Happy Monday!  I hope you had a wonderful weekend*!  I had a very fun weekend that included a double date with my best friend and her husband and the Christmas Party on Saturday night.  Both nights were SO much fun!

Last week was a fun-filled week for me in general.  I had date night on Tuesday night, the Gingerbread House Decorating Party on Wednesday night, and a knitting (err, I worked on Christmas cards) google-hangout with Kyla and Becky on Thursday night!  It's been quite awhile since I packed so many fun things into one week!

The Gingerbread House Decorating Party was so much fun!  Now that my friends' kids are all a little bit older, we decided to include them this year.  They are 2, 3, and 6, and all had a total blast!  I thought I'd share some pictures from our fun night!

The completed houses - mine is on the right, Owen's is on the left, and Stella & Elliot's is in the middle.  Doesn't it look like a Santa on the middle house?  Well, it's actually a zombie Santa according to Elliot!

The night wouldn't be complete without a little frosting squirted into everyone's mouth!  I love the look on Stella's face in this photo!

Owen kept up with the big kids!  He looks a little angelic in this photo as there is a light shining right on him.

Similar to last year, Elliot practiced more planking!

Lastly, I thought I'd share a picture of my decorated tree since I haven't shared a picture yet this year.  I am really happy with how it turned out and love that, each year, I have more Paris-themed ornaments!

How was your weekend? Will you decorate/have you decorated a gingerbread house this year?

* While I had a wonderful weekend, my heart goes out to those in CT who are dealing with this horrible tragedy.  I know many will be posting about this topic, but I couldn't come up with the right words to address this tragedy...

  1. What a fun night - and to your credit you did knit some of the time while in our hangout! :)

I don't know what I love more, the expression on Stella's face or that Elliot was once again practicing planking. Ha!

  5. It looks like you had lots of fun! I do say your skills at making them have improved greatly since you were a child!! Remember? I do so wish we had taken a picture of it. :(
The kids look like they had a blast! Tree is beautiful!

  6. I love your annual traditions, like Julia Child Night and Gingerbread House Decorating Party - so fun and so cool that you can incorporate kids of any age into the party! =)

Now that you mention it, I think our friends gave us a gingerbread house decorating kit last year ... and, I know we never used it, but I have no idea what we did with it. Uh oh, rotting gingerbread might be on the loose! hahaha.

  8. My brother and I decorate a house every year on christmas eve, while enjoying beer/wine. It is a LOT of fun for us!

My weekend was good; we decided to use a gift card to get some more paint and a new light fixture for our upstairs bathroom (guest one) and it looks so much better! I will have to share photos.

BTW- love your tree! I'm always on the hunt for more Paris/France ornaments for you!

  10. This looks so fun. I love looking at Gingerbread Houses, but imagine I'd be very bad at making one. Your tree looks beautiful too!

  11. I don't think I've ever decorated a gingerbread house. But think I would love doing it someday. Maybe eventually when I have kids somedays.

And I did find a blogger day of silence planned tomorrow that I was planning on participating in if you wanted to look into it.

  12. I've never decorated a gingerbread house! So I don't think mine would be very impressive! I think that's such a fun tradition you have though!

    Love your tree!!!

Sounds like it was an awesome weekend! LOve this time of year! So many fun events. I hosted my work's Christmas party Saturday night. It was a good time - but I'm exhausted!

  13. I never have the words for things of such horrible magnitude. I have no idea how it must feel to hear about things like this as a parent ... I can't even imagine.

  15. Tuesdays are Bill and I's weekday date nights! We don't normally do anything besides lay around on the couch reading or watching tv, but I love it. :)

I love this tradition you have, it's so cute! Would you believe I have never made a gingerbread house??
