Music, Books, Miles and Looks of November

Well hello, December.  I can't believe we are in the final month of the year, but I am excited for this month!  November was a good month, but it was a busy one between my Texas and California trips and being gone for Thanksgiving.  I think I was gone more nights than I was home this week, so November sort of wore me out!  December should be more calm and peaceful.  I hopeIt's my last month of freedom before CFA studying starts on 12/26, so I intend to fill it with quiet nights in, lots of date nights, and some holiday fun!

Music:

Begin Again by Taylor Swift - Yep, I am 31 and I love Taylor Swift.  Feel free to judge.  I think her new album is great, and I love that the music video for this song is set in Paris!!

Books:

This was a slower reading month for me, mostly because one of the books I read was REALLY long!  I only read 2 books,

Dearie:  The Remarkable Life of Julia Child by Bob Spit - This book was very well-written and comprehensive. I am glad I read it, but unless you are as obsessed with Julia Child as I am, you would be better off reading My Life in France. This book was SUPER long.  I am glad I read it, but it took me about 3 weeks to finish it, which is pretty long for me.

The Round House by Louise Erdrich - You can read my review here.

Miles:

This was a low mileage month for me as I only ran 51.25 miles - which I am ok with.  I wanted to give my legs a rest after running a marathon in October, and instead focused on going to yoga as much as I could as I had a groupon for a month of unlimited yoga.  I expect my mileage to stay low this month as well.

Looks:

** crickets **  Yep, I have no looks for this month!  Lame, huh?  I didn't wear any new outfits this month and didn't take any pictures of my favorite looks - nor does anything stand out in my mind!  I will work on that next month!!

Here's hoping everyone has a fabulous last month of the year!

  1. I can understand why November wore you out with lots of traveling again. Sounds like December will be a good month though!

  2. I looooove Taylor Swift. Love her, love her. I have no shame. I think her songs are so catchy and they just make me happy! Haha.

Oh, you runners! 51 miles is crazy to me, but I know it feels low to you. Haha. But yay for yoga! That's something I definitely want to try out in the new year.

  3. I'm glad December is here for you and that you can enjoy the month without travels! Enjoyed your review of the book by Louise Erdrich as I've heard a lot about her books!

  4. Taylor Swift's new album is amazing, no shame over here! She writes such accurate songs, honestly. She's a lyricist! Love the song you chose. I really like the upbeat tracks on her album actually (knew you were trouble, 22... makes me think of last year lol!)

    Have a wonderful December! :)

  5. I secretly love Taylor Swift, too. I think I only read one novel in November and that was _Gone Girl_ and you know how I felt about that one.

  7. I LOVE Taylor Swift. Her songs are just so clever and perfect. PS - When I first read you had no new looks, I read "I wore no outfits in November" rather than "I wore no new outfits..." or however you put it. AH, funny. I'm hoping to get a little more (for me) reading done this December. Love cuddling up and just relaxing, but I Have to really REMIND myself of it or else I'll go running or something else to fill my time.

  9. My books have been lower this year as well as I've read more longer ones than usual. But I'm ok with it as they have been worth it!

    Wishing you a wonderful December!

  10. Yeah I was slow on reading in November too and I didn't even have a long book, I just didn't make time! My students know about my 50 book goals so they gave me some advice today on how to read my last 5 books in December- they suggest I just stay up late and wake up early to read haha. Little to they know how little patience I will have for them if I do that :)

I like Taylor Swift, not love but definitely like her. I was listening to her dj a countdown on the radio yesterday and a kid called up and asked how to become a songwriter, she suggested that you write songs about things you wish you could've said to someone... makes so much sense and kind of explained to me why her songs are so easy to relate to!

  12. Ahh, Taylor Swift. I used to like her. A lot. And now I would like to punch her in the face. I'm just so tired of her singing about getting her heart broken and how this guy is bad and this guy is bad, and never getting back together. OMG YOU ARE 22. Get some life experiences and find something else to sing about. *rant over*

Also...I swear one day we'll actually read Emma together!

  17. It's hard to read a lot of books when the books you read are 600 pages! I think that 2 is not that bad really; some people are lucky to read one a month...it's funny how we get used to one thing and anything less seems so little... like Stephany said about the miles --- 51 is a lot to some! I think you are doing the right thing trying yoga and cross training as well as running! Enjoy your remaining 12 days until the study days start!
