- I got a late start to grilling this summer but have definitely rediscovered my love of grilled meals. Phil and I grilled on Thursday and the food turned out so good! I think my favorite thing was the corn which I bought at the downtown farmer's market that day!
- My weekend at the lake was wonderful. Phil met my entire family (minus one brother-in-law) and it went really well. It was great to introduce my family to someone who is an important part of my life and it's always nice to get the endorsement from family when you are dating someone. He went to his friend's lake home on Friday night so I was on my own for the rest of the weekend. It was great to spend time with my immediate family and see some of my aunts, uncles, and cousins on Saturday. I have to admit that by Saturday night I was pretty socialized out, so I was pretty quiet on Sunday. As I get older, I find that after a lot of social interaction, I get to the point where I am all 'talked out'. I didn't take as many pictures this weekend as I thought I would but here are a couple that I snapped/one that I stole from Abby!
My sister Abby & I. |
My nephew Matthew holding my youngest niece, Evelyn! |
My serious little bee. By the way, kids swimsuits are so much more fun than adult ones! |
- As I said in the intro, I'm in the midst of another busy week. I am looking forward to the weekend ahead as we don't have too much planned besides Phil's birthday dinner on Saturday night. I feel a little bit behind on life right now as there is laundry to fold, groceries to buy, cleaning to do, and emails to respond to so hopefully I'll get a chance to catch up this weekend! I hate feeling behind!
That's all from my neck of the woods (or all I have time to write about). Tell me one tidbit about your week or weekend!
What a great weekend! So glad Phil and your family got along so well! And I can't believe how big all those kiddos are!
ReplyDeleteThis weekend was...well, what it was. Everything feels very surreal, and I feel like I'm procrastinating going to work (hello, still commenting on blogs when I should be leaving in 15 minutes), because I don't want to leave this safe bubble Ben and I created for ourselves.
"As I get older, I find that after a lot of social interaction, I get to the point where I am all 'talked out'." Um yes me too! I'm glad to know it's not just me :)
ReplyDeleteThat little bee swimsuit! Adorable. Glad you ha a good weekend with your family and that they loved Phil =)
ReplyDeleteIt was a great weekend filled with family - that's the best! I didn't take many pictures either, which I always regret! We were really happy to meet Phil and that we didn't scare him off! That was a lot of family to meet in one day, but it went so well!
ReplyDeleteThat's great that Phil got along with your family so well :-) One tidbit about my weekend - it was a wedding weekend for our friends. Since Christopher was in the wedding party, we were busy all weekend. It was fun!
ReplyDeleteThat's exciting that your family met Phil! I know it can be nerve wracking for all involved. I still remember the first time my family met Pete and it was only a month after we had started dating! It was a joint bday party for my mom and I and I asked him if he wanted to go and he was all for it. Always a good sign when your partner is ready and willing to meet the fam. :)
ReplyDeleteSounds like an awesome weekend! So glad you got so much family time in, even if it was a little too much by the end. Love that picture of you and Abby, you look so much alike!
ReplyDeleteSounds like a good weekend! The best are when you are too busy to take pictures and have lived the moment! ;) My tidbit - trying to cram in everything of summer into the last few weeks because soon it will be back to work. Going shopping Thursday for new work clothes for me and school!!!! clothes for the child.
ReplyDeleteI understand that "all talked out" feeling. It usually happens to me around 3-4 hours into being social, haha. Then I find myself reverting inward and being quiet. It is what it is!
ReplyDeleteGlad you had a fun weekend and your family got to meet Phil! Woo!
Glad to hear that Phil meeting your family went well and that you had a fun weekend! :)
ReplyDeleteAgree with you about the social interaction thing. Last weekend I had social events every single day and I was exhausted by Sunday night. I definitely need more alone time as I get older! I like having plans and seeing friends, but I definitely need a good balance between that and "me time."
ReplyDeleteGlad that Phil meeting your family went well. Always good to get that checked off your list! Sounds like a properly exhausting but wonderful summer weekend.
ReplyDeleteSo glad your family got to meet Phil! That picture of you and Abby is fantastic!
ReplyDeleteI can relate on the socializing thing! Monday Ryan and I were exhausted and spent the whole day reading on the boat (well Ryan fished). Such a fun week - but went way too fast!
ReplyDeleteWe got sweet corn at a farmers market in Fergus this week. Sweet corn in AZ just isn't the same...
lol i'm 31 and want that bathing suit for myself.
ReplyDeleteI am slowly but surely getting caught up and am so glad you had a great time and all went well with the meeting!
ReplyDeleteMy last weekend was birthday -- way fun! And I'm still celebrating!
YAY for lake time and Phil meeting the fam! That's huge! LOVE it.
ReplyDeleteLove the photo of you and Abby. Definitely look like sisters!
ReplyDeleteOh, I loved a photo of you and your sister! Definitely see a resemblance there! What a fun time!
