Music, Books, Miles and Looks of September

Happy Monday!  Yikes, life has been busy lately.  I think this is the longest I have gone without blogging in quite awhile but I haven't been able to make time for it lately.  I've had lots of fun things going on lately but I am hoping that life slows down soon as the pace, at times, feels almost manic...   I need to get my act together and write some posts about San Francisco later this week!

Music:

Arms by Christina Perry - I love Christina Perry's voice.  I don't know much of her music, but I heard this song when I was shopping for my bike and LOVED it.  I bet she'd be great live.

Books:

This was a stronger reading month for me, mostly thanks to the long flights I had to and from California.  I read 5 books.  My favorite book by far was The Storied Life of AJ Fikry - I highly recommend it!

All the Light We Cannot See by Anthony Doerr - 3 stars (thought I'd like this more than I did)
The Vacationers by Emma Straub - 4 stars
The Church of Tango by Cherie Magnus - 2 stars
Thrive by Arianna Huffington - 4 stars
The Storied Life of A.J.Fikry by Gabrielle Zevin - 5 stars

Miles:

September was a pretty strong running month for me as I ran 106 miles!  On top of that I biked 86 miles!  I also completed my 6th consecutive month of 30 workouts in 30 days, which means I worked out 183 times in the last 183 days (actually a bit more I think because I think I exceeded my goal a couple of months).  I am taking a break from this for a couple of months because I feel like I need to put less pressure on myself to fit in ALL THE THINGS but it's been a great and very motivating challenge for me.

Looks:

I really had to reach to come up with some looks to post.  It's that transitional time when you are sick of your summer wardrobe but it's not quite cool enough to pull out the fall wardrobe.  Both of these looks are things I've owned for years, but they are good staple looks.

This outfit is pretty boring but the scarf makes it a little more interesting/fashionable.

I've owned these pieces for years but I still get compliments every time I wear this outfit.  I heart the color mustard  And the condiment..

  1. I love that yellow sweater! It is such a nice pop of color and really makes the whole outfit so cheery.

You had a busy month! I know what you mean about trying to fit it all in; sometimes you want to plan, plan, plan, but it catches up to you at some point. I had that same issue in September. Although it was full of fun things, I still feel a bit like I need a whole weekend to myself to just lay around. However, I am not sure that it will happen for a while, so I am just enjoying it while it lasts!

  2. Love the skirt (dress?) in the last photo! I'm with you, tough time of year to dress because it's chillier at night, but warmer during the day. Such a special time of year.

Way to go on the running & reading!

I totally failed at the workouts in September thanks to being sick for 2 weeks, but managed to get in close to 20 so not terrible all things considered. I need to get my butt back on the bandwagon this week, and ramp up my workouts again. I love how I feel when I do it so I just need to do it (and hope this lingering cough finally goes away!!!)

  5. That's impressive that you did 30 days of workouts again. Yes, ALL THE THINGS. I need to back down on my personal workout requirements because I just don't have the time. And I love that mustard sweater with the print skirt!

  6. Oh, man, Christina Perri is my FAVORITE. I can't get enough of her. Her voice! Her lyrics! That song is one of my favorites of hers, as well. :)

Way to go on another 30 days of workouts in September. That is SO impressive, but I'm glad you're taking some time off from that goal. Especially with how busy you have been/will be. Always good to lessen one commitment for sanity purposes. ;)

Hope you get a restful weekend soon! I have another busy one coming up but the weekend after this one I have no plans and I'm already so excited about it!

  8. I'm ALSO so over my wardrobe right now. Nothing excites me. Plus, I'm really tired of shorts and shirts and sundresses. Once the temps get under 90, I will officially start boycotting shorts.

Great job on ANOTHER solid month of mileage! Such a difference from 1 year ago! Yay!!!

I am anxious to see a recap of your trip to SF! It looks like a lovely place to visit!
Yikes, 5 books! I didn't even finish one! There is too much outside work to get done yet so I'm really lagging! I'm pushing myself to finish our book club book before Sunday - hope I make it!

  13. That mustard/black/white outfit is GLORIOUS. Isn't The Vacationers fantastic? If you can still read summery books (I can't in autumn) try The Lemon Grove.
