I started off the day by waking up without an alarm, which is the best way to start the day! After having breakfast, I listened to a podcast while preparing the baked apples for the date sweetened apple pie oatmeal I eat for breakfast each day. I highly recommend this recipe to other oatmeal lovers! I always make a triple batch of it each weekend so my breakfasts for the week are all ready to go.
I had some downtime before going to church so I did some reading. I hadn't read To Kill a Mockingbird since I was in 8th grade. I highly recommend re-reading this classic novel!
After church, I hung out with Phil until he had to leave for his noon tee time. The weather has been gorgeous here so I'm glad Phil was able to get out for another round of golf (the season is usually over at this point of the year). After Phil left, I wanted to get out for a walk but I pushed it off for a bit as Oscar was super cuddly.
Our sweet girl loves it when I lay down so she can lay on my chest |
The trees in our neighborhood still have quite a few leaves. It looks more like early October than early November |
The rest of the afternoon was spent reading and relaxing. When Phil came home from his round of golf, we caught up on our days. watched some football together, and I finished getting dinner ready. We had slow-cooker chicken tikka masala. I HIGHLY recommend this recipe to those that love Indian food. It's so easy and delicious. I recommend doing the extra steps in the recipe (marinating the chicken in yogurt and sauteing the onion, garlic, spices, and tomato paste) as I think it enhances the flavor.
Not the prettiest dish, but it's so delicious! |

How was your weekend? Did you do anything relaxing?
Saturday wound up being pretty relaxing: we traveled the 90 minutes to see our friends and it was just what I needed. We wandered through some shops, enjoyed a leisurely lunch, laughed, chatted, caught up, sat outside in the sun on rocking chairs. I only wish I could make that trip every weekend as it's been really hard to not have my college BFF close.
ReplyDeleteYour blanket looks great; gorgeous colors and it is coming together quickly!
I ended up having a free day on Saturday and Margaret called as I was finishing my run. We were able to go to Cabo Fish Taco and spend a few hours together which was so nice! I took Jack for a walk on Friday night, I agree this is the best time of the year for walks!
ReplyDeleteYou did hit all the high points in there. Very cool! Glad Phil got in a nice round of golf too before the cold hits.
ReplyDeleteSounds idyllic! And I love both your square and your afghan. And of course, Oscar! I was pretty laid back, put away the things from the art sale, made a nice dinner, caught up on some mail and chilling out. Oh, and a very long, lovely walk!
ReplyDeleteYour lunch is a little like a Nicoise salad - one of my favorites!
ReplyDeleteWhat other colors are you using for the granny square blanket? Or is it monotone?
ReplyDeleteLooks very pretty, as does the chevron one.
Wow, that is amazing that you are still eating green beans from your garden! Nothing beats fresh green beans in my book! I am still eating some cherry tomatoes that I picked green and put in a paper bag. There is only a few green ones left but they have tasted great!
I didn't know John Adams was on Prime!! I watched it 4 years ago and LOVED it. I am so excited to re-watch it now that I know where to find it! Kitty snuggles are the best. Oscar is such a pretty girl and seems like such a sweetheart!
ReplyDeleteThat sounds so lovely! I had a very relaxed shouldless day on Sunday as well since I was tired from being out late for Eric's birthday and all the party prep that went into his party last week! This weekend I have a 3 day weekend for Remembrance Day and want to keep it VERY low key. Eric will be working, but he is on night shift so will be home during the day sleeping so I will have to be very quiet! I see lots of reading and knitting as parts of my weekend plans :)
ReplyDeleteI love your shoudless days! It also reminds me that I very rarely take shouldless days and I need to start doing so. I have shouldless evenings during the week, haha, but my weekends seem to be jam-packed lately and I don't like it!
ReplyDeleteI'm so impressed with your knitting! Glad to hear you had a great shouldless day :-) I too love going for walks in the Fall. We are having the most beautiful fall EVER here; it's insane! People are sitting on patios, wearing shorts and sandals, etc. Tomorrow I plan on going for a long walk.
