Home Bound

It's Friday. Amen to that. It has been a long, long week. Actually, it's been a long month. The old adage says that if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all. So I am not going to get into the details of why the last couple of weeks have really not been fun. Suffice it to say that I could sum up the last weeks or even months by saying I feel as though I have been 'beaten down' - all having to do with work. The candle is being burned at both ends right now and it's just plain wearing me down. I know there are people out there dealing with much worse things, and it could be much worse. But I am sincerely hoping this beaten down feeling goes away soon as it is really wearing on me...

The good news is that I will be going home this weekend. This trip couldn't have come at a better time. It will be wonderful to see my parents, grandma, and other relatives. I might regress back to my childhood and lay on the couch with my head in my mom's lap and ask her to play with my hair. I am sure that might sound childish but there are few things in this world more comforting!

In addition to seeing my family I'll be attending my cousin's baby shower! This cousin is more like a sister than a cousin. She is due at the end of March - can't wait to be an 'almost' auntie again! I think it's a girl!

This weekend will also mark the one year anniversary of my grandpa's death. It really doesn't seem possible that I was writing this post one year ago. I am glad I'll be around my Grandma this weekend as I am sure this will be a tough weekend for her.

I know this is going to be a restorative weekend for me. It will be a weekend full of hugs and laughter. And maybe a game or two of bananagrams or a quick crochet lesson! I've got to start crossing some things off that list!

What are you all up to this weekend?

  4. Sometimes going home is exactly the cure for having a bad stretch. I just finished writing a really ranty email to my husband - just to get a bunch of things off my chest. And now, all I want is for this day to end, so I can go home, curl up and do nothing but try to restore some sanity in my life.

  6. Forget about everything weekend but enjoying yourself and having a great time with your family. Work will be there to deal with on Monday as will anything else that is bothering you. I hope you have a fantastic weekend and will be thinking about you and your family, especially your grandma. Sending big hugs, friend!

  7. Lisa, My heart breaks for you! Everyone has their own personal battles to get through -- and you are in the middle of a big one. I hope this weekend brings your joy and restoration!! :(

If I could do annnything in the world -- I would buy time for you -- just a few more hours in the evening that are for YOU!

I wish I could be home this weekend :(. Reading about your weekend home brought tears to my eyes. I would give the world to play bananagrams or cribbage, and just see everyone! I miss family.

Love you, hang in there, and I am praying for you!

  9. I'm glad you have this weekend to look to forward to and that you'll be with your family. I'm sure you will all need to lean on each other for strength here and there.

Side Note: I saw Banagrams at Barnes & Noble a few weeks ago and got so excited about it. I didn't buy it but I thought about it!

This weekend is actually wide open right now; I will probably spend some more time recovering from this stupid sickness and then I hope to venture to a movie, the gym, and maybe Ann Taylor Loft!?

I hope you have fun at home! Do you know I have never been to a baby shower? My first bridal shower was last year haha. I'm sure in a few years they will occupy my every weekend!

  20. I hope you have a great weekend. I'm not surprised you need a break - you work such long hours and you run on top of that, it must be exhausting!
If you get your crochet lesson in, please tell how it went!
