This weekend, I...
- watched the Olympics and fell a little bit in love with Aksel Lund Svindal. He is the Norwegian skier who won the Gold in the Men's Super G on Friday night. He's quite dreamy and speaks impeccable English.
- watched my cousin open lots of great gifts at her shower. Can't wait to see if it's a boy or a girl! I will of course be happy either way but am sort of hoping I can put the pink yarn I recently purchased to good use and knit her a baby hat. :)
- had a 'draw off' with my 5 1/2 year old Godson. It was a close competition since I have the drawing skills of a 5 year old. Aside from drawing together, he amazed me with his abilities to count to 100 and write everyone's names!
- learned how to play "Speed Scrabble" - it's very similar to Bananagrams. My grandma beat me both times, but I beat her both times in Bananagrams so I guess we ended the day evenly!
- had a wonderful home cooked meal on Sunday. Roasted chicken, mashed potatoes, gluten free gravy, asparagus, and home made chocolate pudding. All I can say is YUM!
- cried when saying good bye to my parents. I don't know that I have ever cried when saying good bye. I am usually happy to return to my life in Minneapolis. Truth be told, that was not the case when I said good bye yesterday. I just did not want to leave the cocoon of my parents' house. I know I have to believe things will get better at work - I just really hope that is the case very soon.
Sounds like an awesome weekend! My drawing skills are like yours, but maybe a 7 year olds since my kindergarten kids always seem to be impressed with my drawing haha. Then again, a few of them are DEFINITELY better artists than me.
ReplyDeleteSorry you are not happy to get back to life, I hope work gets better, it's no fun being stressed about work all the time!
I feel this way too sometimes! I cried in the airport when we were returning from Mardi Gras. I just didn't want to leave and come back to real life. Once you get settled back in things will look up!
ReplyDeleteI am quite envious of your weekend! I miss just a nice weekend at Mom & Dad's. I feel like I may never get that ever again - every time I come home it is such a whirlwinded-rush! However, I did get to experience that nice, laid-back family time during my week home at Christmas, and a glimpse of it during the week of the wedding!
ReplyDeleteI hope your are able to survive this week with the least amount of stress possible!! Thinking of you!!
I am glad you had a chance to restore your soul at home this weekend. Also, please know you are a very capable and strong person who will weather this storm at work. It will get better. I just know it. However, I do remember the Sunday blues facing another tough work week. Paul and I would call it the Sunday "Blue Funk." Pretty oppressive at times. Let's think about what Hemingway book we will read first. Research and let me know.
ReplyDeleteAskel is gorgeous (and so is his father!). Everytime I leave my best friends house in Columbus after I've spent the weekend there are lots of hugs and tears. There is just something about leaving something so familiar and the people who know you the best. I am glad that you had a wonderfully relaxing weekend at home.
ReplyDeleteOne of the highlights of my weekend was hanging out with my little cousin (and our phone call).
Sounds like a wonderful weekend! Speed Scrabble sounds WAY too intimidating though, haha :)
ReplyDeleteWell you already know I fell in love with Aksel as well =) Other than that, the highlight of my weekend was giving myself permission to relax, sleep in and work to get over this stupid flu/virus I got. I'm not 100% but more than halfway there!
ReplyDeleteSending good thoughts your way for a less stressful work week =)
It sounds like you had a great weekend. I also spent time watching the Olympics. Other than that, I was just lazy reading and knitting.
ReplyDeleteI hope you have a great, stress-free week!
We are glad that "home" offers you a retreat as so many people don't experience that! I truly believe that you will rise above the stress - and you must believe in yourself! You are woman - you are stong!
ReplyDeleteOh I'm so sorry you had such a hard time saying goodbye, and I hope that this week is going to be a lot better. I always try to build in little fun things during the day, from listening to podcasts on my way home after work to having hot chocolate in the afternoon. Anything that can make things a little sweeter.
ReplyDeleteFingers crossed for you!
Even if the goodbye was hard and teary, it sounded like you had a great weekend with your family.
ReplyDeleteI hope this week starts looking up and better for you. Maybe getting your Olympic mitts in the mail will help :)
I grew up believing grandparents were supposed to let their grandchildren win. Every time. Even when their grandchildren are adults. =)
ReplyDeleteAwwww! I don't usually cry either but I think last Christmas I definitely cried... It doesn't help that my mom cries every time though!
ReplyDeleteI ALWAYS cry when I leave home. Me and my mom try to be tough but then we both end up BAWLING our faces off. So I had a big cryfest yesterday too.
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad you had such a lovely, relaxing weekend! XO
Sometimes comfort is hard to leave. Sounds like you had a great time with the family!
ReplyDeleteSounds like the perfect weekend escape! I really hope things improve for you with work - it's terrible to think that you cried because you were going back home to face it.
ReplyDelete*Big Hug* sweety - hang in there!
*Hugs* Here's hoping work is less crazy and you get your balance back soon!
ReplyDeletesorry you had such a rough week last week. today is monday, but we have to believe that it will be better. i had a rough week last week too, and today the sun is shining again.
ReplyDeleteTeach me speed scrabble!
ReplyDeleteAlso, it sounds like you had a proper family weekend, which is just what a person needs sometimes!
Um is it sad that the oreo mint concrete mixer from Culvers was my highlight? If so, then let's make it, my SIL picking a bridesmaid dress I look good in. :)
ReplyDeleteI love family weekends! I spent time with my boyfriends family and it was so much fun! It was tough to come home and get back into the groove this morning!
