I thought it was time for a little update on my 30 Before 30 list. And honestly, I sort of forgot what all is on this list! I have crossed out the things I have accomplished. There are some things that are no longer feasible for various reasons, so those are now in italics. I obviously can't cross off the "once a month" or "once a quarter" challenges until the end of the year. If I am on track, they are in green... if I am not on track, they are in red...

1. Work my way up to being able to do 20 real push-ups. I can only do 'girl' ones currently.

5. Get a body fat assessment done, most likely in the 'Bod Pod'
6.

7. Learn how to roast a chicken
8. Make one new recipe/month
9. Host a dinner party
10. Find a cooking class/seminar to attend

Faith:
15.
16. Spend 1 hour in the Eucharistic Adoration Chapel each month
17. Go to a Cathedral Young Adults event
Crafting/Cultural:
18. Learn how to knit socks
19.
20. See a ballet or opera production
21. Do something with the photos from my France trip
Miscellaneous:
22.
23. Send one piece of snail mail/month
24. Buy a new set of dishes
25. Read 3 classic novels
26. Make over my blog
27. Do a hair workshop with my best friend Brooke.

30. Visit the Duluth, MN area
I have completed 5 things and am on track to cross off 3 monthly/quarterly goals. Out of 30.

I have my work cut out for me... But I will say - the first couple of months of my 29th year were some of the toughest I've experienced... So I think surviving them is an accomplishment in and of itself! And if I don't get it all done by February 6th 2011, then so be it!
If you set resolutions or other goals this year, have you kept them?
I'm impressed!! I refuse to set goals in writing because then I will procrastinate and not do them. I pretty much decide on impulse, and then make it so that it would be difficult to back out. Example the ATL 13.1, I knew I wanted to do another half just wasn't sure when or how so when that opportunity came along I made sure I had a place to stay and signed up for it. That way I would be out $$ if I backed out.
ReplyDeleteI think checking in like this is a good idea. (I'm "checking in" with my list on my birthday too). I'm excited to see you keep crossing things off!
ReplyDeleteWay to make process on your list! I don't make lists, well, mostly just because I'm not a list maker and if I do make them, I lose them. Its great to see others crossing things off their lists though.
ReplyDeleteWow, that is quite a list and I compliment you on getting so many things done! That is no small task! I wonder if I should start a list of 63 things to do by the time I reach my next birthday? Hmmm? I would have to make them very small goals if I did!
ReplyDeleteI think that's pretty good progress. I would probably not have any crossed off!
ReplyDeleteYou're doing great, and check ins are always a good idea! I panicked a little when I revisited my 26 before 26 recently and realised two months had passed and I'm nowhere NEAR completing something every two weeks! It's great to see some things tackled though - and you're doing wonderfully :)
ReplyDeleteI agree with your ending statement - you have had a lot on your plate and manmy life changes during the first months of your 29th year! So don't beat up on yourself too much.
ReplyDeletePlus, that's 30 big things to do! But I have faith in you. You motivate me!
Won't next Friday count as a dinner party? I think so.
ReplyDeleteAnd I Capture the Castle is a classic book, and so is Secret Garden so I think you're well on your way there =)
I agree with your final statement, too. After all that was thrown at you early this year just making it through that is a massive accomplishment itself!!
ReplyDeleteAnd, hey, even if you only complete 10 things on the list, that's still an accomplishment!
I set goals for the summer, and goals for this year, and nope - I haven't met them all ... yet. If I don't meet them all, I am okay with that, because I have done a lot, and I tried!
ReplyDeleteI think having that list is the best part! Even if you don't get to every single thing you put the effort in to make your life and other peoples lives better!! I think having the monthly goals of seeing people or sending mail are the best! Great job so far!!
ReplyDeleteYou definitely look like you already meeting a bunch of goals and on the road to meeting others. However, I agree just making it through the first few months was an accomplishment in itself. I haven't set goals in awhile, I'll have to get back into that this year!
ReplyDeleteThat's a great list - I'm very impressed with your financial goals too...oh, and I'll teach you how to knit socks! :-)
ReplyDeleteThere are two things I can help you with - there's a very easy recipe for roast chicken on my blog, so you may have that, and I dare you tomake it this month!
ReplyDeleteAlso, I'm going to send you three classic novels. which by the way you are on track for, because I Capture the Castle is a classic.
Keep up the good work Lisa!
I think you're doing really good! I made 3 resolutions at the beginning of the year and yeah, I'm just not even close to completing those! My birthday is in November and I'm currently compiling a list of goals to accomplish in my 23rd year!
ReplyDeleteAnd you still have 6 months to go, plenty of time! :)
I think the thing to remember about goals, is just that, they're are goals or something to strive for. Even if you don't complete them all, just the fact you worked your way towards them is way counts. After all, don't they say, that its the journey that counts!
ReplyDeleteYou're doing so well! Honestly, if the only thing on my 26 before 26 list was "learn to knit socks" I would be thrilled, socks should count for five or six items, they're hard!
ReplyDeleteAnd I had a body analysis done last year. It was really fascinating but kind of depressing lol I can do without being told to lose 10 lbs by anyone. Especially on a cruise with a very yummy buffet ;)
Life lists are so conflicting to me. On one hand, I think it's great to think about what you want to do with yourself and put together goals. On the other hand, life lists (or 30 before 30 lists) tend to be really long and all-encompassing. And I look at them and can't help but think, how on earth will someone accomplish everything? For me, life lists don't work. Living life does. So, if you spend the next six months really living and embracing life ... then, I say you've succeeded, even if you don't cross even one more thing off your list!
