Another set of questions, hosted by Chelsea of Roots and Rings!
1. What type of phone do you have? Do you like it?
I recently got an iPhone, which I really like. Except the touch screen. I swear, I could have sent an email on my blackberry blind folded. I can look directly at the screen and still screw up half the words. Have not adjusted to the touch screen!
I also have a blackberry for work, but it's primarily for email.
2. How old were you when you got your first cell phone?
I was 21.
3. How many cell phones have you owned since your first?
Maybe 4?
4. How much is your average monthly phone bill?
It is right around $74. I never go over my minutes. Ever. I think $74 is pretty reasonable for a smart phone. Luckily I get almost 25% off because of an employee discount program.
5. When you were a kid/teenager, were you allowed to have a phone in your room?
I think when I was a junior or senior they let me have a phone in my room?
6. Do you like talking on the phone or do you despise it? Or somewhere in-between?
I am not really a phone person... I prefer email and text messages because I am awkward on the phone. Except at work, I can talk on the phone. But outside of work, not so great on the phone. But I have some dear friends who live far away so I do make time to talk to them as often as we can.
7. Do you text a lot? Is texting/talking while driving illegal where you live? Are you guilty of it anyway?
Yes. I am big on texting. It's my preferred method of communication. It is illegal to text and drive. I did it quite a bit on my blackberry because I could send an entire text without looking at the phone once. Now I try not to text and drive since I am horrible at typing on my iPhone. But i have done it a couple of times.
8. What sort of texting keyboard does your phone have? Touch screen, slide out, or something different? Do you care?
Touch screen.
9. Look at the last call in your call log – who is it? What were they calling about? Who calls you the most?
The last call was from my friend Amanda. We went to a movie last night and she called to tell me to get seats for us as she was going to be a little late due to traffic. (We saw Bridesmaids, which was hilarious!)
10. What is the longest phone call you can recall having?Probably a phone conversation with my high school boyfriend. He lived an hour away so we talked on the phone A LOT. And it was long distance. Not sure how I got away with that. I think there were some discussions about very expensive phone bills. I think we would talk for hours upon hours. Ah, young love.
Love it! i also dislike talking on the phone!
ReplyDeleteI am really nervous about the iphone touch screen- I know I'll have no clue what I am doing!
ReplyDeleteAlso, I do not like the phone either. I used to be a huge phone person when I was younger- I would talk to my friends for literally HOURS. Now though, I really only talk to a couple of friends on the phone, maybe like 2? and my mom. But the other day I was thinking I needed to call my mom back and I was like yeah I'm just going to go over to her house- I really don't feel like dealing with the phone! haha
Also, I hate. hate. hate. hate. calling people!!!
I'm not really a fan of talking on the phone either, but since I have so many friends who live so far away I do it anyway or use skype.
ReplyDeleteI admit that it does annoy and sometimes frighten me when I see a driver texting. I try to give him/her a lot of clearance because I have seen some dangerous/careless driving as a result.
I only like the phone when I have something good to talk about you, know? I think work has soured me to the whole phone situation... that's ok to blame work, right?I think I tend to ignore my phone and phone calls than before. I prefer email and texts. Now if only everyone else did. That said, I definitely do make time to call people that I don't live close to or can't see on a regular basis!
ReplyDeleteLove the iphone! But I have to agree, it is hard to type on it using the touch screen. I am better at it with just one finger. I like text messaging too...although it can be less personal, so much easier to get a quick answer to your question
ReplyDeleteI think phone calls are becoming obsolete, except for business! I much prefer texting & emailing unless I need to talk to someone right away and need a response. I, too, am tired of phones after a day at work! But, the sound of a loved ones voice is still the best!
ReplyDeleteAh, the good old days when long distance wasn't free. I remember my parents setting the kitchen timer to dictate how long I could be on the phone.
ReplyDeleteHA! I love your comment about looking directly at the screen and still mess up texts on the iphone. That is so me. And I SUCK at texting with one hand on the iphone. But all the other amazing features it has makes those little faults worth it :P
ReplyDeleteNot having a "real" keyboard is the only thing keeping me from getting an iphone!!! We used a touch screen blackberry storm when we traveled internationally and (for me) it was the HARDEST thing to type messages/emails on that phone. :( Some day I will have to make the switch, though!!!
ReplyDelete$74 a month for a smart phone is AWESOME! And I agree, the blackberry might have been slow, but it's MUCH harder to do stuff on a touch screen!
ReplyDeleteI want to hear another update after you've had your phone a bit longer. I'm going back on forth on my smartphone choice for the future. I like the idea of the iphone, but know how much the touch screen can frustrate me. But perhaps it's just about getting used to it.
ReplyDeleteI switched my blackberry for an Android last month and I am still so. slow. on the touch screen! That said, as a machine, it blows my crappy always freezing blackberry out of the water :)
ReplyDeleteEveryone talking about how hard it is to use a touchscreen makes me so hesitant to get one! I love typing on my Blackberry, it's just so easy. Sigh.
ReplyDeleteIsn't it funny how you could spend hours on the phone in high school!!!! I think about that sometimes and wonder where all of that free time went!
