A Day of Rest

Good Morning and happy Friday to you all.  It's hard to believe that Easter is this weekend!  Since I am a week ahead of my study schedule, I decided to take Sunday off from studying and will spend it at my parents' lake cabin. I am SO excited to see my family - and I am especially excited to enjoy my 'day of rest' on Sunday.  I typically spend 6 hours each Saturday and Sunday studying, so to have a full day off without studying will be amazing!  At the same time, it makes me feel a little anxious and guilty to take a day off, but I know it will be good for me to take a break.

I'll be heading to my parents' lake home on Saturday night after I wrap up a day of studying.  I'll get to see 2 of my 4 siblings and 4 of my 5 nephews!  I haven't seen 2 of these nephews since New Years, so I am long over due for some time with them!

I am planning on attending the Easter Vigil on Saturday night with my mom - it's one of my favorite masses of the year.  Sunday we'll have Easter Dinner together and then I'll head back to Minneapolis in the afternoon.  It will be a short visit, but it's better than no visit at all.

For those of you who celebrate Easter, I hope you have a wonderful Easter weekend!  I gave up candy for lent so am looking forward to indulging in some Reese's peanut butter cups.  Yum.  They are my favorite!

What are your plans for the weekend?

  1. For some reason I thought you said you wouldn't be seeing your family for Easter so I'm glad that either I was wrong or you changed your mind :) You definitely deserve a day off on Easter! Enjoy your candy!

  2. SO glad you're taking Sunday off from studying - you deserve it! I'm getting a massage tomorrow (SO excited!), and I'm actually making Easter dinner Sunday for Ben, my mom, my sister, and me.

I'm excited because it's my first "holiday" meal I'm making (instead of going to someone else's house), and I think it will be fun but I obviously don't know what I'm doing! I was texting with my mom the other night and she said something about just setting her potatoes aside after they were boiled (before I mashed them) so she wouldn't have butter and milk in hers. I was like "you add butter and milk? I thought you just peeled, boiled, and mashed!"

I think this will make for some good blogging stories!

  3. Oh, Lisa! Time at the lake sounds like exactly like what you need. That will be so much fun! I bet that when you get there the anxiety about not studying will melt away. I'm like that about not working sometimes, but a change of pace at your favourite place can be so restorative :)

  5. You need to take a day off every once in a while! Good to rest the soul and brain! I am a little envious of you guys getting together. Miss seeing family. Holidays are kind of depressing when you have no family in the whole state! Hence why I work all of them! Have a very happy Easter and hug those boys for me!!

  7. That's great that you will get to see your family! That's what Easter is all about. It's also nice that you are getting a WHOLE DAY OFF! Yay!

My family is actually coming down to my brother's house, which is a couple hours from me (instead of 4 where they live) and so I will probably drive up there to have dinner on Saturday night. During the day on Saturday I have a half marathon and then am volunteering for the rest of the 50k racers in the same location. It's my first time volunteering for a race, so I am a little nervous!

    Have fun this weekend!

  10. Happy Easter to you and your family Lisa!

We aren't religious are all, but we celebrate Easter in the same way that we do Christmas - as a societal thing, with ritual and time spent with family. And chocolate.

Enjoy your Reese's cups! (They make egg shaped ones you know?).

  12. Lisa - Enjoy the family and the cabin. And do NOT feel guilty about skipping one day of study!!!

BTW, I did NOT get a chance to read that book about what French women know. the heck with it. we'll just roll with what we American women know and hope for the best. Though I've been on a reading kick, one look around this house as I prep for and through this holiday weekend, makes me realize some polishing and decorating is in order.

wish you could come over. the eggs are ready to dye, the table is nearly set and we've got some good (and gluten free) treats to enjoy.

Nor says you have your tickets for the wedding - it will be GRAND to have you here.

    more later-- hugs to all!

  15. Looks like you had a great time with your family. I love little kids. I don't get to see my cousin's little boys enough. I should really make more time to do so because they are at those perfect adorable ages. Sometimes 24 hrs is all you need to feel new again!
