Oh Friday. I am so happy to see you!!
Here are 5 things that are on my mind.
1. I really want these shoes. They are only $38 which is reasonable. But I am really struggling with spending money on non-essential things lately... So I will just admire them online...
2. I've been listening to the song "I Won't Give Up" by Jason Mraz on repeat each day on my way to and from work. It's like I have Tourette syndrome when it comes to music. Anyone else obsessively listen to the same song over and over and over and over? Oh, just me? Ok.
3. Since I started my job, my boss has treated me like a partner, meaning neither one of us took individual credit for anything we did because we wanted people to view us as a team. Which worked great when we were partnered up together. Now that relationship has been severed and as a result of this work change, I am going to have to basically
start from scratch and re-prove my value to my new manager. The thought
of this exhausts. And honestly, it scares me. Big time.
4. I'm actually kind of looking forward to taking 2 more practice exams this weekend. I am hoping that my scores continue to improve and I continue to feel more confident as the exam approaches. It's only 2 weeks from tomorrow. Eeks!
5. It's pretty obvious that I am stressed right now. But I am trying to keep that stress in check by thinking about my dear aunt who is fighting the battle of her life against cancer. I feel like a total schmuck for complaining about work and CFA stress, etc, given the battle she is graciously facing - while being incredibly positive. I have a lot to learn from her.
What's on your mind today?
I can definitely relate to listening to songs on repeat. I try not to do it when M. is around so that he doesn't get too annoyed.
ReplyDeleteYou will prove your worth of that I have no doubt!
I do the same thing with new songs I love (that's one of them too!).
ReplyDeleteWith that much stress right now I think maybe you should go ahead and get the shoes! A little treat!
ReplyDeleteShe is an amazing person that we can learn so much from her in different aspects.
ReplyDeleteThose shoes are very cute! Makes me think of sailing. I love ballet flats, but cannot wear them. I'm quite sure I look funny in them so have never tried them.
I am so sorry about the new relationship with your boss. Hang in there. :(
Those shoes are super cute! Maybe if you rock your next practice exam you can splurge and treat yourself :)
ReplyDeleteBetty is an incredible person. She is in my prayers every day. Take care. See you Sunday!
ReplyDeletetoo bad there's not a taper period for the CFA test, huh? Just go through the practice exams calmly, and let the score on the CFA prove your competency to the new boss. it will all come together in the end.
ReplyDeleteI love those shoes! And I love that song! I have no doubt that you'll prove your value to your boss immediately. And I will hold a good thought for your aunt.
ReplyDeleteThose shoes are super cute! Where are they from? Hope the practise tests go well this weekend! :)
ReplyDeleteI think everyone in the family has learned so much from Betty! Her courage, strength and positive attitude is truly humbling! I am sure you will prove yourself to the new boss and I am anxious to hear more about your new responsibilities! Good luck on the trial exams this weekend!
ReplyDeleteEric just sent me the song "I won't give up" yesterday! I really like it too! Those shoes are super cute and I personally think you deserve them soooo... (bad influence!)
ReplyDeleteThose are super cute and affordable shoes. You should treat yourself, Lisa! You've been working so hard & been so diligent with your money. Try and find that extra 40$ just for you :)
ReplyDeleteHope your stress levels go down soon, I know how tough it is to be stressed 24/7. Have a lovely weekend!
I LOVE that song! It's been on my running playlist for months and I'm still not sick of it. I blast it when I'm running up hills (along with "worlds greatest").
ReplyDeleteWhen I'm getting ready to go hear a music group live, I will listen to their CD(s) over and over and over again. It's sort of obnoxious! So, I get where your music on repeat comes from. =)
ReplyDeleteHang in there. The test is a few weeks away and then you can focus on knocking the socks off your new boss! xoxo
I definitely listen to my fave songs often but not on repeat haha. But oh my do I love that song!!! I think it can apply to anything in life, the lyrics are great, and hos voice is perfection!
ReplyDeleteI totally agree with what everyone else has said -- like John said, just get your exams done. Your score and your work ethic will be proof enough to your new boss that you are capable. Don't sweat it. Also, like Ris and Gracie said, I think you should get the shoes. I know how you work, so they can be a present for passing the exam. OR getting through all that studying. Get them. You deserve it!
ReplyDeleteOh man, I feel for your aunt. But she is a strong woman!!
ReplyDeleteHang in there. This work and CFA exam are really taking you for a ride. I know that at the end of this all there will be some light and happiness to it.
Hope you have a great weekend, Lisa!!
I have been keeping your aunt in my prayers and I am sure the practice tests went well.
ReplyDeleteSuper cute flats! You deserve them plus they are nautical-hello DG, and they are striped! They look comfy and you are right who can beat that price. Trust me you deserve them!
Pain and stress is not comparative. It takes in all factors of an individual life. Also, you are probably stressed about your aunt having cancer too.
ReplyDeleteYou'll ace your exams, and you'll prove yourself at work, because you are you, and you are strong.
And you should buy those shoes as a treat. You deserve a treat.
You should totally get those shoes! They are super cute.
ReplyDeleteThose shoes are adorable!
ReplyDeleteAs I explained in my email, I am so sorry about your work situation. "If something's working, don't fix it", you know? I totally understand why you feel bummed about having to prove yourself to a new manager :(
Your aunt is a trooper. It puts things into perspective, but also always remember that you have to be kind to yourself, too... even though your problems seem so small compared to hers right now.
You WILL ace your exams. Your new boss WILL find you extraordinarily competent and capable and treat you accordingly and your aunt WILL find relief and -- I pray with all my heart -- healing. Look up, smile. I have faith.
