And So It Begins

Oh hey, why yes it was Christmas yesterday and most are probably still basking in the post-holiday glow...  But there is no rest for the dedicated CFA candidate...  Yes, friends, studying starts today (sob).  I have tried to live in the 'now' during the month of December and not fixate on the fact that I would start studying today.  I was marginally successful at doing this as I had lots of fun things to distract me.  But I would be lying if I didn't admit that I have been filled with a sense of dread...  because that is how I have felt for the last week.

I just hate the thought of saying good bye to so much free time.  Gone are the leisurely evenings spent working out, cooking dinner, and reading.  Instead work outs will be hastily fit in and I will spend 15-20 hours each week at my dining room table. And there will undoubtedly be tears and feelings of self-doubt and isolation and days where I think "how will I ever pass?"

But pass, I will.  This is it.  This is the final level.  I just have to get through this test and I will be free.  Luckily my boyfriend is also taking level III so he'll totally know what I am going through and will also be busy studying (albeit not quite as many hours, we have different approaches to test prep).

So if I am quiet around these parts over the next 23 weeks, it's because I'll be studying away, trying to cram all the information from these books into my brain.

Level III, let's do this.

  2. When I opened this post I literally said "nooooooo" outloud. Pointless since no one is awake right now but me, but I'm dreading this for you. The great news is, when it's over, it's REALLY over. Yayyy! Hopefully it will help to have someone else studying too that you can complain with :) YOU CAN DO IT!

  4. I kind of feel like you've made the most of this season, not just because studying has been looming over your head, but also because you have a special someone to share it with this year. I know the winter months are going to be tough, but your blog readers will be here to support you. So, even if you don't have much to say or don't have much time to say it, write it down and we'll jump in with supportive words and good juju energy to send your way. =)

(PS - looks like your comments got attacked by spammers ... I see two anonymous comments that don't belong here - boo)

  6. Whew, that does sound daunting, but I know you can do it. As for basking in Christmas glow, I'm definitely in a fog at work trying to get the brain moving after several days of relaxation, fun times, good food and family.

  12. Wow, has time flown or WHAT? It feels like you *just* finished the last level of the CFA! This is going to be a crazy few months coming up for you, but it will be so worth it. And just think, don't you have a wicked trip planned once you pass? :) I'll be with you studying for the next 14 weeks as I'm in school, and although it won't be nearly as scary for me I'll still feel your pain on those evenings you'd rather be doing anything but studying! Best of luck! :)

  14. holy crap, 23 weeks? that's absurd. Did you have to make a training plan? Most Ironman training plans are only 22 weeks.
