FIve Things Friday

Hello and Happy Friday!  I hope everyone had a wonderful week!

1.  This has been a busy week as I've had social plans/things going on 3 of the last 4 nights.  I'm not complaining, though, as I used to struggle to fill the weekend with social plans so I am appreciating having plenty of things to do/people to see.

2.  I got my hair cut on Tuesday for the first time in about 8 months!  It was so good to see my Minneapolis stylist as I hadn't seen her since before I found out about my move to Charlotte!  I am really happy with how it turned out.  Now if only it looked like this when I blow dry it.  I need to go to a blow drying clinic.

3.  I'm wearing glasses in the photo above because my eyes have really been bothering me lately, and my contacts seem to exacerbate the problem.  I don't know if it's allergies or what, but one eye waters on and off ALL DAY LONG and it drives me crazy.  I should probably go to the eye doctor but I am sort of medical appointment'd out right now.  I'm hoping it's just allergies and that it goes away.  Phil has been telling me that this is a sign that I should look into getting lasik.  He had it done years ago and said it was the well worth the money.  Maybe I will look into doing that in 2015.

4.  We've had so much rain lately but the forecast is looking good for tomorrow's party so I'm crossing my fingers that the forecast is correct!  Phil has a nice backyard area so it would be ideal to have the guests hang out there during the party.

5.  My piano is getting delivered tomorrow (yea!  Can't wait to be reunited with it) and on Sunday a couple of friends are coming over to hang my photos on the way (I won't even say I will help because I won't.  I am terrible at anything related to home decor).  So that means I'll be sharing photos of my new home next week as I will be 100% settled in!

Are you good at home decorating?  I'm not.  I will hang my own photos if I have to but it's not my forte, so I gladly accepted the help of my friends!

  1. LOVE your hair! And I think you look fabulous with glasses but I can understand why watery eyes would not really be something you want to deal with!

"I won't even say I will help because I won't. I am terrible at any related to home decor." Hahahaha I love you!

I don't know that I have a Friday five - my brain is all Walk of Hope all the time right now!

  2. I am terrible at home decor... Eric has hung up everything in our house and my mom sometimes helps... definitely not me, it would be sideways.

My mom did the eye surgery too and also loves it :)

But I also think you look lovely with glasses. However, I can't even imagine what a pain glasses/contacts would be so :)

  3. I'm so impressed that you're going to be 100% settled! That kind of thing takes me MONTHS. and I agree with Becky--you look great with glasses! But I hope you get the irritated eyes thing figured out soon ;)

  4. Let me say again---the hair looks amaaaazing! And I'm with Phil on the LASIK. I had it done in 2007 and I've loved it!!!! It really made a difference for me :). Home decor is something I really love so I wish I was also closer to come over and help you. I'm glad you have friends there to do it for you :) It is nice to read about your full social calendar and know that you are in a much happier place in your life!!!! So happy for ya!

  5. You're looking good! And yes, I suspect possibly allergies, but who knows.

I'd like to think I'm OK at home decor but my probably has always been too much of a good thing! I'm glad Rick helps hang pictures. I don't have the patience to do all the measuring and if you moved a lot of mine you would see multiple holes!

Can't wait to see pix of your new spot!

  6. Love your hair! Section it out and get a big round brush to recreate at home. I think it is likely allergies since your body is having to readjust. Looking forward to hearing all about the party!!!

  7. The hair is gorgeous! I never can get my hair to look the way it does when I get it done, either. I would need four hands to get it accomplished.

Fingers crossed the weather holds for you this weekend (send rain our way? It's been dry all week.)

I love home decor; it's one of my most favorite things. I still have two rooms that works in progress (our office & the guest bedroom) but they are coming along slowly...

  8. Your hair looks great! I wish I had a personal stylist who would come in daily and do my hair! But I don't live in Downton Abbey so that ends that dream!
You inherited your home decorating abilities from me - sorry! But I am looking forward to pictures when it's done!

  9. Oh man, what is it about blow drying that is so tricky?! My attempts at blow drying never turn out like when my hairdresser does it. Definitely need a blow drying clinic! :)

  10. I love your hair and your glasses! I have been wanting new glasses for a while now but I don't want to pay for them.

I love decorating my apartment but I don't have the creative eye and the funds to make it look Pinterest-worthy, ha! Plus since I am hoping to buy a house in the next year or two I have been holding off on buying too many things as I'd rather spend the money once I am living in a more permanent place. I love photo tours of where people live so I'm excited to see yours!

    Have a great weekend :)

  11. LASIK kinda scares me (my eyeballs are precious, haha!) so I’ve never even toyed with the idea. I’m sure it would be fine and LIFE-CHANGING but I don’t hate wearing glasses/contacts enough to make it worth my while. Maybe one day!

I am NOT good at home décor! Neither is my mom, so our walls are still mostly bare after living at our apartment for almost two years. How sad, right? I just don’t have an eye for it.

  13. I would love to get lasik done as well. My dad had it done a few years ago.
Your turn out really cute. I need to take a blow dry clinic but I am still afraid I still won't be able to get it as well as the salon can.

  14. Cute 'do! It is good to see the social calendar filling up. Ours is as well, now that we're home for some consecutive weekends. Tomorrow we have a head-shaving party to go to (for a friend with cancer), then we're off to a BBQ festival with them. Fun times!

  17. I think I'm pretty good at home decorating, but I don't change things once I get them how I like them ... like ever. I'll probably repaint my house the same colour in a few years, and buy the same couch when mine needs replacing, haha!

  18. I'm not god at decorating either, which is why our house still looks half done after 4 years. But it's slowly coming together, at least I hope that's the case!

  20. My contacts have also really been bugging me lately! Suddenly out of nowhere my eyes have started building up protein on my contact lenses so they only last like a week. I am going to have to get dailies which SUCKS because they are so expensive! I am actually going to inquire about lasik when I go to see my eye doctor this fall because EVERYONE I've talked to who has had it done says it's so worth the cost.

Your hair looks absolutely gorgeous! Hope the party prep is going well -- can't wait to hear all about it!

  21. Love the hair! I'm really due for a cut. I'm HORRIBLE at decorating. Really horrible. So I just don't, ha.

  22. Your hair looks gorgeous! Much the you suit glasses, GO AND GET YOUR EYES CHECKED. I think if your visual impairment isn't drastic, laser surgery is actually good value if you think about what you'd spend on glasses over the years.

  23. I have one watery eye too! I put it down to allergies...

  24. You look absolutely fantastic. Your move back home and getting back into the things you love is doing absolute wonders for you. You always look amazing, but you just look so happy. I am happy to see that :)
