This past weekend was super fun, but also a bit on the exhausting side. It was one of those weekends where I feel like I didn't sit down much so I am dragging a bit this morning but luckily I have a quieter week ahead of me! Here's how I kept myself busy this weekend!
Friday night was busy as I made salsa, Phil did yard work, and we squeezed in a quick 4 mile run in hot, sunny weather! I was up bright and early on Saturday as I was given a piano delivery time frame of 7 am - 12 pm and was told I'd get a 30 minute heads up when they were on their way... So yah, I was sort of home bound so when I got up I made the guacamole as I figured I could stop in the middle of making it if need be. Luckily I didn't get interrupted.
I love making guac, but getting properly ripe avocados can be a challenge at times. I was happy when I cut into the 5 avocados I had bought and found that they were all (nearly) perfect!
The piano guys ended up calling around 9 am and in a matter of about 30 minutes, my piano had been moved from the house of my previous boss where it's lived for the last 14 months to my home. I'm so happy to have my baby back under my care, but I am thankful that it was in such good hands while I was away.
Saturday was a big day for my dear friends, Becky and Ben, as they participated in the D.C. Walk of Hope which raised awareness about infertility. My heart goes out to Becky and Ben as they have been through so much so while I could not be there to do the walk with them in person, I was one of many people who went for a walk in honor of this fabulous couple and their little angel Cecilia. It was a beautiful day as you can tell from the picture below!
After the walk, I sqeezed in a Summer Shred workout, which took about 25 minutes but was super intense as it included 100 burpees, among other things. I was definitely dripping with sweat by the end! But I was glad I fit a workout into what was a super busy morning.
After showering, I headed over to Phil's house to work on the party preparations. We worked well as a team and got everything ready to go well before the guests arrived. I took a picture of the food table before the guests arrived but that is the only picture I took that night. I guess we were too busy having fun for me to pull out my camera. ALL of the food got eaten (which surprised me, I thought we'd have leftovers) and everyone seemed to have a good time. One of my proudest moments of the night was when Phil and I beat another couple at bean bag toss 21-0 (they use a 'net score' approach which is why it was possible to shut out the other team)!!
Sunday was another busy day for me. I spent the morning meal planning, grocery shopping and went to church before my two local friends came over at 1 to hang photos on my walls. They both brought one of their kids with them so I played with the kids while they worked their magic on the walls. I got lots of one-on-one time with little Wyatt, so I was a happy camper!
After they left, I headed out for a run and was reminded why I don't do 'longish' runs at 4 in the afternoon. It was a hot, sticky run but I got my 7.5 miles in.
I finished off the evening by cutting up another watermelon (I ate an entire one in 5 days late week!) and making a batch of vegetarian chili. Yep, I ate chili after sweating my face off during a run. Weird, I know but soups and chili make such great leftovers!
And finally, at 7 pm on Sunday night, I sat down and really relaxed for a couple of hours, which felt glorious.
What was the highlight of your weekend? Mine was a toss-up between co-hosting a party with Phil and spending time with my girlfriends.
It sounds like a great weekend :) But definitely the type that leaves you a bit tired on Monday! That's great that everyone ate the food. Baby Wyatt is SO cute. How is he doing?!
ReplyDeleteMy weekend was mixed. I spent Saturday at my friend's house for her birthday, which was really fun. We also took Max out to dinner Friday and Saturday night and sat outside both times, which was nice because he has been more awake at restaurants so it's less pressure to keep him silent ha ha. Sat night Max did not sleep well, so I spent Sunday being tired. It was nice though because he took a 3 hour nap in the morning... but by the end of the day I was just tired and stir crazy. I'm starting to get a little worried about how I'm going to handle not working this summer... we shall see!
Holy mother of busy, Batman! No wonder you're dragging a little this morning - that was a whirlwind weekend indeed!
ReplyDeleteSo glad the party went well and thank you again for walking with us in spirit! It was amazing to see the support representing Cece all over the country! xoxoxo
I think the highlight for me was having Nilsa and her boys in town, enjoying an amazing dinner with them Saturday night (thanks to Knight smoking some ribs on the grill!) while their son napped and ours played quietly and enjoying lots of laughs, stories, and quality friend time!
ReplyDeleteI am eating so much watermelon these days. It's definitely a summer staple for me!
ReplyDeleteMy weekend felt very busy as well! I am impressed with all that you accomplished. I love guac. All the food for the party looks very yum! The highlight of my weekend was my half marathon yesterday where I took 9 seconds of my previous best time, but the heat took a toll on me and I was useless for the remainder of the day. Looking forward to a more low-key weekend this week!
ReplyDeleteSounds like a wonderful weekend! You have me craving guacamole now though. I also bought a watermelon yesterday and I have so much now! Better get eating :)
ReplyDeleteHow fun! Glad the party was a hit.
ReplyDeleteWhew! That was a busy weekend and I am so happy to see that piano back in your apartment! And with the pictures on the wall, it must feel complete!
ReplyDeleteI had a great weekend, too, as the weather was great, and I reunited with five of my college friends at our place! We just seem to pick up where we left off and it is such a joy!
The food lay-out looked so good! I made quac and salsa for our gathering, too!
Looks like a great weekend!! Wow - you and Phil are champs @ bean-bag toss (not corn hole. Lol.). I am horrible at that game!
ReplyDeleteFood looked delicious - it's always a good sign that it went, because that means people must have gone back for more! ;)
Wyatt is such a cute! That smile melts hearts!
The highlight of my weekend is a toss-up between Saturday mornings run with my girls (and Ryan joined us) and Sunday's pool day with our friends. It was a very full and fun weekend!
Your piano looks beautiful in it's home!
Sounds like an awesome weekend but busy busy! Our weekend was pretty busy as well but I fit in some pool time on Sunday afternoon which was awesome! Loved kicking back and relaxing with my book. I spent a ton of time outside this past weekend which is just what I want on a beautiful, sunshine-y summer weekend!
ReplyDeleteWhat a busy weekend you had! But it all sounds like fun!
ReplyDeleteP.S. You need to update your little bio in the sidebar! :)

I eat chili anytime of the year! If I had to wait until it was "chili weather" in Florida, I'd eat it two months out of the year! Ha. I eat it when it's 90 degrees outside. ;)
ReplyDeleteYour weekend sounds wonderful. SO busy, but so wonderful, too. It's hard when weekends are THAT busy so you never feel relaxed, but it's also an awesome feeling, too. Really living life, and all that!
The highlight of my weekend was probably book club with my ladies on Friday night. We always have a blast together!
I probably would have ate all the avocados and had none left for guac! I just can't be trusted around them. So jealous of your piano! I cannot wait until we get one. It's been far too long since I've had one at home.
ReplyDeleteI'm really in the mood for guacamole now! Can you come make me some???
ReplyDeleteOur weekend was super busy as Welles had his first experience as a ring bearer. He did such a good job! We also celebrated our cousin's 2nd birthday and went to a church picnic.
We had a big day yesterday as well--so today has been my rest day :)
I so rarely buy avocados since whenever I do they never seem to be ripe. But I do love guacamole, and definitely feel like I should be making it more often.
ReplyDeleteSounds like a perfect weekend! I'm amazed you can move after all that! The food table looks great -- happy that the party was a success! And your piano is gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteWe were at the lake and the weather was perfect and it was very quiet. Enough said!
Yea! So many good things in these posts. I too have been really busy and am now enjoying a lower key week. It's raining today and ironically I'm loving it and staying curled up in home :) Glad the party worked out well and that the piano is home. Pictures of the photos on the wall?! :)
ReplyDeleteWyatt is so cute!!! OMG, those avocados - yum!!! Sounds like a really fun weekend :-)
