Ah summer. How I love thee. The longer days, the meals eaten al fresco, the smell of food being grilled. I could go on and on as there's a lot to love about this time of year. Sure summer time bring heat and humidity - and runs that make me want to jump into an ice bath - but I'll take the good with the bad.
Last summer pretty much sucked. I was in the boot, living in Charlotte, not feeling well thanks to symptoms from my yet-to-be-diagnosed Rheumatoid Arthritis, missing family and friends, and stressing over whether I had passed the CFA. So I intend to make this summer epically awesome to make up for the craptastic summer I had last year.
I love a good list, so here's a list of some of the experiences I'd like to have this summer!
- cannonball off the dock with my nephews
- rent a kayak for the day at my parents' lake
- run around Lake Harriet, Lake Calhoun, and Lake of the Isles (about 10 miles total)
- use the nice ride bikes to go on a biking date with Phil
- go paddle boarding and/or kayaking at a local lake
- pack a picnic and listen to some live music at one of the parks in Minneapolis
- take my nephews out for ice cream at the lake
- visit 3 state parks in Minnesota
- host a party during the Minneapolis Aquatennial celebration (I"ll have a prime view of the fireworks they shoot off to close the festival!)
- eat many meals that were entirely made on the grill
- eat lots of watermelon
I'll check back at the end of the summer and let you know what I accomplished!
Do you have a summer bucket list?
"- cannonball off the dock with my nephews" LOVE that this is the first thing on your list!
ReplyDeleteSo glad you're in a such a better place this summer - your list looks fabulous!
I don't know if I have a summer bucket list, but I think I'm starting a summer self-care list - like get to yoga twice a week, go to Mount Vernon (my happy place), once a month, etc. Might post about it soon!
I'd say that if you do even half the list, you will have a terrific summer -- especially because you are feeling so much better -- now THAT makes me happy!
ReplyDeleteSummer bucket list: get off crutches. Ha!
ReplyDeleteGreat bucket list! You should be able to accomplish most of them or I hope you do! Summer is so fleeting so keep plugging away at the list! We've been seeing more paddle boarding this summer than usual and one man had it out on a weekend that was very windy and whitecaps on the lake! I thought they were more for calm waters. He did flip over quite a few times, though!
ReplyDeleteI'm happy to help with the state parks! There are plenty of close ones that make for great day trips, Afton, Wild River, St. Croix... Let me know when you want to go!
ReplyDeleteGreat list esp the first one! We have a bucket list going as well. It's been fun especially on the days when we don't have something planned.
ReplyDeleteThis is a great idea. Summer goes by so fast that a list of things to do would probably help pull it all into focus! I'd like to have a picnic somewhere, visit a state beach, go out for ice cream once, and visit the farmer's markets as often as I can!
ReplyDeleteI like your lake lists. SUP/kayaking would be fantastic.
ReplyDeleteThis summer I'm trying to eat from the farmers market more. local, fresh, in season, organic. right now we've got watermelon and cucumbers out the wazoo!
I love your list! I do not have a summer bucket list but this is making me want to make one! I definitely want to go camping a few times, spend lots of time poolside and just generally enjoy the season!
ReplyDeleteI love your list. I feel the same way about last summer... well maybe mine wasn't as bad but I felt like crap so this summer I'm going to enjoy it more :)
ReplyDeleteI just legit told Eric I have to go out and get watermelon TONIGHT. I just need it haha.
Also, I love paddleboarding. I want to try paddleboard yoga this summer. I'm sure it will be hilarious. I know I'm not technically supposed to do yoga but really, how many poses will I actually be able to do? lol
Now I want a summer bucket list!
ReplyDeleteI don't have a summer bucket list, but just some general things I'd like to do, like go to the beach at sunset (I haven't done this in YEARS!) and go to the pool as often as I can and do some touristy things around town. Ha... I guess that IS a summer bucket list, eh?!
ReplyDeleteSummer is, by far, my favorite season even if it is super hot and humid here. There's just so much to do and it feels so relaxing!
This list is great! I used to do motivational lists all the time...maybe this is the motivation I need to get back to it ;)
ReplyDeleteHa! We both had "watermelon" on our summer bucket lists! I love it!!
ReplyDeleteThat is a great bucket list! I love paddleboarding - and I think you will too!
I love kayaking. We are doing a canoeing trip in a few weeks where it's 13 miles up the Salt River. I'm so excited!!
I like the stuff with your nephews - how nice! I should cannon ball with my nephew too; he'd love it!
ReplyDeleteSounds like a good list!
ReplyDeleteOn mine..
- camp at least twice
- visit two new splashpads
- go blueberry picking
- visit a zoo
- visit a children's museum
- go out for ice cream
I knew I would love this, and I totally do!! Great list :)
