Currently: February Edition

Happy Friday!  I was all prepared to tell you that it was going to be snowy here today but that 6-12" of snow we were forecasted to get has somehow fizzled out!  I'm not complaining, though!  Here's what is currently happening in my world!

Reading:  The Faith Club which is the first book I'm reading for my Activism Through Reading project. It's been a fascinating and engaging book so far. I am Catholic so I know all about the origins, tenets and beliefs of Christianity, but knew next to nothing about the Muslim and Jewish faiths. It's been interesting to see how much these 3 faiths have in common.

Loving: having Oscar back. She was at Phil's mom's for 2 weeks as she went there when we went to California and stayed for an extra week.  His mom adores having her but we miss her so much when she is away.  She was super cuddly when she got back and spent a lot of time on my lap when I was home last Monday.  And her curiosity cracks us up!

In the top 2 pictures, she is trying to figure out what exactly is in that cloth bin our bedroom (nothing interesting - it's all running/hiking stuff)

Feeling: relieved that I'm getting a break from travel this month.  January was just too busy!!

Thinking: about wedding stuff quite a bit of the time...  I'm enjoying the process so far - much more than I thought I would!  I have so many different spreadsheets to track different things like guest lists and to dos and such.  Thank God for Google Docs.  I love having access to everything whether I'm at home or at work.

Anticipating: the upcoming crafting weekend with my mom and Chicago SIL.  We have a long list of things to accomplish but many hands makes light work!  It'll be great to get a chance to spend some quality time together.

Watching: Z: The Beginning of Everything on Amazon Prime.  It's a show about Zelda, the wife of F. Scott Fitzgerald. The first season is set in America. I'm looking forward to future seasons as they spent quite a bit of time in Paris!

Working: on making book-page envelop liners for our invitations!!  We'll mail them in about a month!  Once the liners are done I'm going to start to address 10 envelopes a day.  I HATE addressing envelopes but can't justify hiring a calligrapher.

Grateful:  that Phil and I were able to get away this month.  It was so good for us to spend 4 fun days together.

Listening:  to "Million Reasons" by Lady Gaga.  I think that song is so beautiful!  She did an amazing job performing during the Superbowl Halftime.

Wishing: the warm weather we had would stick around.  Warmer, sunnier weather has such a positive impact on my general mood and level of energy!  But at least we are through the worst stretch of winter (hopefully).

What are you loving, thinking about and anticipating today?

  1. I'm loving our warm weather! It's going to be close to 80 today, I'm such a warm weather girl! I'm thinking about how fortunate I am and all that needs to be done this weekend since we are having Charlotte's birthday party on Sunday and since we moved it we're going to be able to go hiking tomorrow. I'm anticipating a very busy next few months! I was explaining to someone recently that March is pretty much booked out as far as weekends go. This is the story of my life and I've quit saying I'm going to try to slow down. Instead I'm making the most of the moments and whenever possible I fit in naps on Saturdays and Sundays.

  2. I too could not justify a calligrapher and hand addressed outer and inner envelopes. My handwriting isn't terrible when I try :) Depending on how many you're inviting just give yourself two days to do it. I think we sent out about 85 invites and I broke it out into two days. I could tell when I reached my breaking point and didn't want to send out 42 invites with nice handwriting and 43 that looked like a 1st grader practicing cursive.

Also lol to this "snowstorm" today!

  3. Yeah, that Lady Gaga song is great! I really like her.

I am loving the warmer weather we've been having. I am thinking about all that I want to get done today since I have the day off (cleaning, groceries, blogging, etc.). I am anticipating a really fun night tomorrow as Christopher's band is playing a show and a bunch of our friends, some who have never seen him play, are coming out for the evening. Now that most of our friends have kids, it's a big deal when they all get overnight sitters.

  4. You are so organized. I need you in my life right now lol.

I am amazed by how you balance your wedding planning, work, and everything??!!

Oscar is getting big!! So cuddly and sweet looking. Excited to meet her in May!!

I am anticipating my marathon tomorrow. And Ryan's homecoming in March. :) thinking about work a lot lately and overanalzying a lot!!!

  5. Instead of addressing envelopes can you just get printer labels? They sell those nice big clear ones and if you don't have a printer you can always run to Kinkos which shouldn't cost you much.

  6. You sound busy but fun busy. What a good weekend in store.

I adore the Oscar photos! She's into everything, isn't she? So darned cute!

I'm still anticipating Baby KevMo. Wish that kid would hurry up!

  8. I did the calligraphy for our envelopes, and it was a pain messing with the pen and the ink and everything, but I've seen felt-tipped "calligraphy" pens that give the same impression. That might make it easier. I just copied a traditional script alphabet out of a calligraphy book from the library.

And I love how much you're wrapped up in your wedding preparation right now ;)

  10. Oof, hand-addressing envelopes wouldn't be my favorite thing either! I hope the process goes ok. Those photos of Oscar are so funny - what a curious cat. :)

  11. Oscar is so cute! Webster does that kind of thing all the time too. Cats are such funny little creatures ha ha.

You are rocking the addressing of the envelopes!

Right now I am loving reading, I've read a stretch of good books lately where I steal an extra 5 minutes to read anywhere I can, which is one of my favourite things about reading. I am thinking a lot about the logistics of our move over the next few weeks and also anticipating getting possession of our new place in 6 sleeps!

  12. I really love getting a hand addressed card. It seems so personal. My mom and I still write each other real letters and of course I always send thank you notes that are hand written. I just feel it has that special touch, although it's a pain sometimes! How many people are you inviting? I am sure that alone is a difficult process to go through, trying to decide who and how many etc... My aunt got married to a man who is one of seven, and she is one of six and I just remember there being SO MANY people! My aunt said that if she had to do it all over again, she would have taken more control (she let her mom and mother in law plan a lot of things). It seems like you have it all in the bag though!
