1. One meal at the dining room table each week. Success! We probably ate about 2 meals/week at the dinner table. I know that's still probably a low number compared to others. But I usually only cook twice a week and the rest of the week we do our own things for dinner or eat leftovers. I am sure this will change when/if we have kids but for now, making 2 meals/week works for us! #youdoyou
2. No screen time after 8 pm. I did so-so at this. I tried to be more mindful about putting my phone down in the evening but I was not always good about this!
3. Relax more. Success! Phil is only around 1 day of the weekend since he spends 1 day at his mom's. So I make a conscious effort to relax more on the day when he was home. I wasn't able to do this for every weekend, but I tried to do it as much as possible (and would say to him, 'look at me relaxing!!' just in case it wasn't noticeable. Lol.).
Our getaway trip to California was really helpful, too, as we spent 4 days exploring and doing things we enjoyed.
Did you have any goals or areas of focus for February?

Hello Lisa. I am a Pastor from Mumbai, India. I am blessed and feel privileged and honored to get connected with you as well as know you and your interest through your profile on the blogger and the blog post. I love getting connected with the people of God around the globe to be encouraged, strengthened and praying for one another. I have been in the Pastoral ministry for last 37 yrs in this great city of Mumbai a city with a great contrast where richest of rich and the poorest of poor live. We reachout to the poorest of poor with the love of Christ to bring healing to the brokenhearted. We also encourage young and the adults from the west to come to Mumbai to work with us during their vacation time. We would love to have you come to Mumbai with your friends to work with us during your vacation time. I am sure you will have a life changing experience. My email id is: dhwankhede(at)gmail(dot)com and my name is Diwakar Wankhede. Looking forward to hear from you very soon. God's richest blessings on you, your family and friends and also wishing you a blessed and a Christ centered rest of the year 2017.
ReplyDeleteI have goals for March as Lent begins tomorrow and I love this special time of the year to grow closer to God through acts of charity and penance. My problem is that I want to do more than I know I can possibly accomplish so will look at my list and trim what will not be possible and do what is most beneficial.
ReplyDeleteOne thing we usually do is to shut off the TV after 7 PM on weeknights during lent and spend time reading instead. I love the silence!
I'm the worst about not putting my phone down in the evenings. I need to get better at it especially when Amelia is still awake.
ReplyDeleteI Love this so much!! I want to do this. I am bad with being on my phone after the kids go to bed. I always put it away when the kids are awake but once they are down I am always lounging on my phone. I am getting better at putting it down to focus on a show with J.
ReplyDeleteOK, don't mock me but the secret to not dealing with the phone is to not have a smart phone. A land line or a stupid phone and you'll only deal with it when you want to be on the phone! Yes, it really works. Otherwise, I'd be so bad...
ReplyDeleteThree cheers on the dinners. I think that can be really hard.
That's great! It is sometimes harder to slow down that speed up! And it looks to me like your February was about working on being more present.
ReplyDeleteMy goal for February was to qualify for Boston and get licensed in GA and Ny. I got my applications submitted and I got my qualifier! So I did everything I had control of!!!
I did not do any little challenges for February but I'm really looking forward to giving up social media in March! Today is day 1 and my hands have been itching to scroll ha ha. Hence why I'm catching up on blogs on my lunch break instead :)
ReplyDeleteI think it's more and more unusual to sit at the table and eat, at least in my experience. Even for those with children... coordinating schedules is hard. So I don't think you should feel bad at all that you guys *only* do it twice a week. That's still great, IMO!
ReplyDeleteMy challenge for February was to give up pizza, and I did it! Hooray! My other challenge ended up being helping my mom take care of Pops after his surgery - we had no idea he'd be in the hospital for such a long time!
You did well with your goals :-)
ReplyDeleteI guess my focus for February was to put money toward debt. We put half of our tax return toward my car loan (I got a new-to-me car in the summer, and we're trying to pay it off within the year), and the other half on our mortgage. Every little bit of extra payments moves us closer to our goal of being completely debt free.
I love eating dinner at the dinner table with J! It's a good habit to have!
