A Labor of Love - Part II

December is going to be one exciting month! In addition to all the holiday hustle and bustle, two of my closest friends will have babies! They are due just a day apart, next week, which is kind of crazy! Last month I showed you the blanket that I crocheted for one friend; today I am sharing photos of the blanket that I knitted for my other friend!

Before I bought my yarn, I found out that this friend was having a boy so I selected a baby blue color of yarn. I chose a simple, checkered pattern for the blanket.

The two blankets I made couldn't have been more different, but I am very happy with how they turned out!

What is my next project? Baby hats. Lots and lots of baby hats!!

Nice! That's very few things that are better than a homemade blanket and I am sure both of those babies will keep that gift for a very, very long time!

It is beautiful Lisa! I wish I could knit like you (and my mom) but I am just better at Crocheting I think!

I seriously can't believe you made that - it looks like something you'd buy in a store - gorgeous!!!

I love how say it was a "simple" pattern. Looks hard to me! Love the color and the look of the blanket. Your friend will love it!

B's blanket turned out so nicely! I have little R's all packed up for the hospital!

You are the best "auntie"!!

Wow, you finished in the nick of time! It looks wonderful and so warm! The baby sure will need that this winter! Can't wait to hear the news of the babies' births! Cousin Ashley is due any day now, too!

You're a knitting machine! So glad that you've moving onto smaller projects- I'm sure they'll feel like a relief in comparison :)

That's soo beautiful! I think that home-made gifts, especially high quality ones like this blanket, are the best ever.

This blanket, along with the other one, is amazing. You are so talented and the little ones the blankets are intended for are lucky to have such a special gift!

Aww those are both so gorgeous! I really wish I was better at knitting but all I can make are very basic scarfs. I don't even get how a blanket is made to be honest... huge knitting needles? haha. Anyway, I love the blanket, your friends are very lucky!

If someone were to ask me what are the top things you need in the first month or so of babydom, I'd answer swaddle blankets and hats. Seriously. We don't need cute outfits, because as a winter baby, Gavin is immediately wrapped up in a blanket. And because it's winter and always cold, he's always got a hat on, too. What I'm saying is ... your friends will love you for these gifts!

That blanket is beautiful - you are so talented! I am terrible at knitting, I don't have the patience for it.
