Ten on Tuesday

Happy Tuesday - although it feels like more of a Monday today! Here's this week's installment of Ten on Tuesday, courtesy of Chelsea.

1. If given the opportunity, would you choose a mediocre job that paid well or your dream job that paid poorly?
It would be great to have my dream job, but there is more to life than working. So I'd rather have a mediocre job that paid well so I would be able to do things like travel.

2. What is your favorite thing about the 4th of July? (For the foreigners: What is your impression of the 4th of July?)
Being at the cabin with my family! 3 out of 5 of the kids in my family were at my parents' this weekend and we had a blast (although I wish 5 out of 5 of us would have been there!).

3. What’s the most random fact you know about American history?
I am ashamed to admit that I do not have any fun random facts that I know about the US. My late Grandfather would be so disappointed as he was the biggest history buff...

4. What is the best fireworks display you’ve ever seen?
When I was in high school, I went to a fireworks show in Fargo, ND that was put on by a pyrotechnic guild (who knew there was such a thing?). It was a great show - and I went with a guy that I had an enormous crush on!

5. Who taught you how to put on makeup?
Um, no one. Which is probably why I sort of suck at it.

6. Have you ever gone through a financial planning process? Tell us about it.
Nope. I will probably look into finding one in the next year or so.

7. What was your favorite outfit as a kid? Bonus points for pictures.
I didn't have one - or at least one that I can think of... I think I was more of a lover of wearing multiple outfits in a given day v. wearing a specific outfit.

8. Do you prefer a beach, lake, swimming pool, or no water?
I would say a lake - caveat being the water can't be freakishly cold, and it has to be a clean lake... like my parents' which is the 3rd cleanest lake in Minnesota!!

9. Do you recycle? If not, why?
Yes. You would have to be uber lazy to not do it where I live since they have receptacles for everything in the garage.

10. What are your thoughts and feelings about the Twilight Saga?
To each their own... I don't want to offend any Twihards out there (props to Rachel for introducing me to this word!), but my thoughts are: "meh". I read 3 of the 4 books, but the 3rd one annoyed me so much, I could not finish the series. I have to say that the movies are downright TERRIBLE, though. Like, I want the 2+ hours I spent watching the 2nd movie back - that's how awful I thought that movie was.

Glad you had a good weekend! Fargo is known for its pyrotechnic guild because it is so flat there it is a good place to test fireworks. It's that whole huge horizon concept!

The fact that you don't like Twilight proves we are blogging soul mates :)

I'm fairly ashamed that I don't know many random history facts either. I always hated history in school but now realize I should probably know more. I haven't read any of the Twilight books and thought maybe I was really missing out on something since it seems to be everyone...good to know that I'm not, I don't have any interest in them.

I am glad that you had fun at your parents cabin. I totally agree with you about the lake. There's nothing like a cold lake to dangle your feet into from the dock on a hot summer day.

Oh, wow. It is Tuesday! Blew me away!

I agree the best part of the 4th was always being at the lakes for a long weekend! Wish we could've been there.

Ahhhhh - Twighlight. So dumb. So annoying.

Interesting questions! The first one is really hard, though I think I would have to choose the dream job that paid poorly only because I have been in that situation and left a good paying job because I couldn't do that every day, and we spend most of our time at work anyway :)

haha, I had to laugh at the twilight question =) I agree, the 3rd book was my least favorite one, hands down but the 3rd movie? My favorite one so far. It's definitely not for everyone though!

I'm a beach girl. My friends say I'm a beach snob (I refuse to get in the Lake that we have just outside St. Louis... it's so dirty. and muddy at the bottom and that grosses me out.)

I wish I could visit the states and see what the 4th of July is all about! I think it would be fun!

I'm the same with you when it comes to make up...I don't have a sister to show me how, which is why I suck at it and stick to mascara and blush haha

When my cousin was little, he changed his outfit every time he changed his activity. Basketball jersey when he went out to shoot hoops, football jersey when he was throwing the football, etc. It was hilarious.

I love the family-togetherness of the 4th too!

I would totally take the mediocre job and good pay. I also am with you on the history thing...I'm not a history buff. Barely passed AP History - yikes. Just not very interesting to me. And I'm not into Twilight. I don't like things based on fictional ideas that I just can't believe or wrap my head around.

We are so fortunate to have a cabin on such a clean lake as I've seen some lakes that I would not put my foot in either! Now we just have to work hard at keeping it clean! Twilight Sagas? I've never even heard of them - I am way out in left field!
4th of July is my favorite Holiday next to Thanksgiving - love that summer break!

Haha I feel the same way about Twilight- I actually only made it through the first two of them haha. I really hate that Bella is a character younger girls look up to, just what the world needs!

I'm glad you had a nice 4th of July! I like lakes too- though I don't know I like the view of the ocean, so hard to pick! haha

I'm really torn on question 1. My Dream Job is to be able to FULLY work from home and WRITE. So I think I'd rather have that because it gives me more flexibility in my life. But I don't know....

Also, Twilight? Ugh! I could not get through the books and the movies get worse and worse. I don't understand why a series that sold MILLIONS of copies cannot afford to make better movies? The acting, the makeup the hair. UGH!

Sounds like the cabin was amazing! And I'm with you on Twilight... only, because it's so terrible, I kind of like it even more. I'm kind of gleeful about how awful the conclusion of it is going to be lol I'm in it for the whole pregnancy part of the movies because I know it'll be handled terribly. And I can't wait! lol :p

I've never read a Twilight book and frankly, I don't want to because I'm afraid I'll get sucked in to the series! I DON'T WANT TO BE A TWIHARD! ;)

I have yet to pick up the Twilight series. I am not opposed to or anti-Twilight, I just haven't pursued it. To be honest, I got just a little too wrapped up in Harry Potter and bawled at the end of one of the books (and then for a few days after, too). It was sick. It was at that point I decided I didn't need to subject myself to that kind of emotional rollercoaster any further. In fact, I still haven't finished reading the series. I am waiting until I am a stronger person, which has yet to happen.
